I COMPLETELY AGREE with the last minute, "Terry is Bruce's son," twist. Why?? That completely destroys the story prior. The fact Terry was an everyday kid and not a prodigy like Bruce Wayne. Terry has to deal with school, a girlfriend, and family while balancing being Batman.
Exactly! I always loved how in some ways Terry felt like a fusion of Spider-Man and Batman. Making Terry Bruce's kid gives me the same vibes as the twist with the spider in the Amazing Spider-Man films, it feels really cheap
@@MediaSenseiOG he felt like a fusion because the only reason they created batman beyond was because the WB wanted to do a teenage Batman story and they said that didn’t make sense so then they created Terry’s character and made him the Batman
RIP Kevin Conroy. I am so thankful to my wife that she got me a Cameo from him from my birthday. She knows how much Batman The Animated Series meant to me when growing up. I used it as an escape from reality and i still watch it today to take my mind away at times. He was such a great person outside of the character as well. He is one of those celebrities that touched people's lives.
In the mid-80's there was a pitch for "The Secret files of the Batman" by Alan Burnett who later worked on developing Batman TAS. Only the pilot got made, titled "The Fear" which was featured in the last SuperFriends series. It was very much a Batman TAS prototype.
Very interesting, I'd never heard of this before. So if I'm understanding correctly, the pilot was retooled into a superfriends episode and released that way?
Fun fact, a video game studio I used to work for (Volition in Champaign IL) actually was making a Batman game but couldn't agree with Warner Brothers over the profits. It was scrapped and the code foundation was reworked to become the Punisher game that came out in 2005. For one of my work anniversaries (and them knowing I was a huge Batman fan), one of my managers set up a PS2 dev kit that had the old demo on it. Played a lot like a poor mans Arkham Asylum but was really great for its time.
Oh wow, I actually own The Punisher game on the PS2! I had no idea about that batman game until I saw your comment so I checked out some gameplay of the tech demo and it definitely looks interesting. Batman's model looks similar to the one from Mortal Kombat Vs DC Universe. Did you have any other info or content from the game or did Volition work for it at a different time to when you worked there?
@@MediaSenseiOG Sadly, a different time. I started in 2008. I knew people that were still working there when the studio closed earlier this year but I am not sure if they still have the old PS2 dev kit in storage.
Thanks man I'm glad you enjoyed! That tribute was my way of showing appreciation for him as Batman. The way I look at it we've had many actors play Batman but he WAS Batman as far as I'm concerned
Yeah it almost gives me a new appreciation for the film, seeing the beautiful hand drawn animation on the big screen in a room full of Batman fans. When I went to see it there was a little kid who can't have been older than about 7 years old having the time of his life. That must be a core memory seeing a movie like that on a big screen at such a young age for the first time
@@MediaSenseiOG interesting most of the people in the cinema with me were adults (a couple in their 70's). One father brought his little boy. I'd only ever seen it on TV (passed me by on initial release). Seeing it in a cinema was amazing. The audio blew me away!
So as an addendum to what you already stated about the cancelled Dark Knight video game, the basic action figure line from Mattel does actually include two characters we would have seen in game only, Firefly and Deathstroke. These are both interesting and more realistic takes on the characters in keeping with Nolan's more grounded Batman world, and are worth looking into if you want to see characters that would have existed exclusively in the cancelled game's world.
Bloody hell I'd completely forgotten that those two had figures in that line. I always thought they were bootlegs when I was a kid because they weren't in the movie 😂. I wonder if they actually were from the game. If they were, it's kind of like how the avengers figure line had a figure of a Skrull from THQ's cancelled avengers game, despite the game never releasing
I watched Batman Beyond return of the joker when I was really young and that scene with Tim laughing then crying really stuck with me. I rewatched it for the first time like a year ago
Yeah that whole sequence really shocked me when I first saw the movie. Such a dark and twisted moment but it's totally something the Joker would do just to get under Batman's skin
Great video, and the tribute at the end was beautiful. The editing for that part was specifically excellent, you chose the best clips to have on screen to reflect what Kevin Conroy RIP was saying
Thanks a lot! I tried my best to make the tribute at the end a fitting celebration of Batman and his 85 year legacy. I'm really glad you appreciated it. RIP Kevin Conroy, the best Batman to ever do it.

My understanding of The Batman vs. Hush is that it was repurposed into the Dracula movie we actually got. @@MediaSenseiOG I recommend tracking down the issue if you're a fan of that incarnation. I believe it's The Batman Strikes #15.
