About Seinfeld:
Seinfeld stars Jerry Seinfeld as a stand-up comedian whose life in New York City is made even more chaotic by his quirky group of friends who join him in wrestling with life's most perplexing, yet often trivial questions. Often described as "a show about nothing," Seinfeld mines the humor in life's mundane situations like waiting in line, searching for a lost item, or the trials and tribulations of dating. Co-starring are Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Jerry's ex-girlfriend and current platonic pal, Elaine Benes; Jason Alexander as George Costanza, Jerry's neurotic hard-luck best friend; and Michael Richards as Jerry's eccentric neighbor, Kramer.

Man I love Peterman. John O'Hurley played him perfectly.
"Hang on, I'm just reading the most fascinating article about the most FAScinating people....ANNND....done"
I remember when he and Suzie stayed working late on a catalog one night and surrendered to temptation...and it was pretty good.
Oh Elaine , you dont like the English Patient ? Then your fired😂
“THATS IT, drop everything we’re going right now” was such a perfect line delivery
Of Course, I don’t know how Elaine didn’t see that coming.
that was brilliant
Never have watched the English Patient solely based on this episode.
It does sound awful.
@@BDUBZ49 Just watched it last night, amazing movie.
Good call... reminds me of Brokeback mountain.
It's amazing. Elaine just likes stupid popcorn movies.
@@missdee4927 That's in this episode. There was another episode where she was into artsy dramas.
One of the best lines ever - how could you not like the English Patient? "How about, it sucked." Just brilliant because, really, there is no better answer.
So true! 🤣
How I feel about Titanic
@@EdgeXXIme too! The Titanic was so boring! My mother had the DVD and made me and my boyfriend watch it with her when we visited for the holidays. She tried to entice me by proclaiming Kate Winslet was so beautiful and talented and reminded her so much of me. At least we were at home instead of the theater. Big Yawn.
@@EdgeXXI The 1997 version?
I love how Elaine doesn't care what people think
More people should art is subjective
“Give me something I can use!” LMAO I just can’t 😂
“Don’t you wanna know how they got in there?” I feel like Elaine would be wholly entertained by a movie if it was just a person jingling keys in front of a camera.
Don't you wanna know how and why 2 guys are carrying a dead guy w/ sunglasses and pretending he is alive??? LOL
Why are you acting like it isn't a reasonable question lol

Schindler’s List AND The English Patient? I guess “Seinfeld” has it out for BOTH of Ralph Fiennes’ Oscar-Nominated Roles.
"You're fired!" - "Great! I'll wait for you outside." 🤣
Elaine would have gotten in a lot more trouble had she been necking during Schindler's list
Yessssssss! And a more offensive spectacle i cannot recall!
Man, I would love to see Elaine swinging that neck back n forth
You should write for seinfeld,,
😂😅🤣
Now that movie is overrated
"And I thought I knew what love was..." So good.
Elaine is so brilliant in this sequence. Incredible comedy!
Elaine doesn't think Ralph Fiennes is sponge-worthy.
2:58 - I never noticed she ate candy off the floor! 🤣
Must have been Jujyfruits, Elaine loves her Jujyfruits.
Thanks!
@@HigHrvatski Well the snack counter was... right there.

I just watched The English Patient for the first time at 38 years old and I wholeheartedly agree with Elaine. I expected so much more than a sappy melodrama
Peterman fires her for not liking the movie lol. Such great side characters
And then hired her back after a forced excursion to a cave in a desert.
@@matthewriley7826 It was supposed to inspire her.
Those are Larry David's words and thoughts coming out of Elaine's mouth!!!
I thought so too, but the episode is from season 8, after larry left, and was written by steven koren actually, according to wikipedia. Still a classic episode!
@@elsecretopezSteven knew Larry too well.
Yes.... yes they are.😂😂😂
It would be so easy to drop Elaine’s friends with how obnoxious conniving they are.
Interestingly, I've never seen The English Patient and this Seinfeld episode makes me want to see it even less.
But I do want to see Rachel Rachel.
this was me watching "Love, Actually"
And me with Titanic, Ozzy and Open Range.

One of Elaine’s great moments
1:23: "I don't know if I could be with somebody who doesn't like the English Patient" 🤣🤣
@BethHarmon-uv7tl The way he sold that line was gold though. They must have done a dozen takes on that to get the pauses exactly right.

Peterman pretty much sums up my movie 🍿 going experience of the 2010s decade
I’ve always disliked that waitress at the coffee shop. She gave George the finger while scratching her face and also forgot Elaine’s piece of pie.

I'm 45 and have seen around 500+ movies in theaters. I've only walked out on 2 movies in my whole life. 1. English Patient. 2. Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls.
I’ve walked out of a bunch of movies. The most popular one was probably Chocolat. But I did like The English Patient and definitely did not walk out.
I almost walked out of "The Hoax" starring Richard Gere because I felt like the plot was going nowhere halfway through but I stuck around and...yeah... it went nowehere. I walked out of Earth, the animal documentary, because I thought James Earl Jones narration was distracting for some reason. Nothing against Jones but I think he just spoke non-stop and I couldn't enjoy watching the animals so I walked out.
The first and only movie I walked out on was Beloved. I know ppl who have read the book and loved it! That movie was brutal, weird and long. I actually sat through The English Patient in a small arthouse movie theater. I think it actually had some foldable chairs in the theater bc the movie was so popular they really wanted to pack ppl in for each show. I was so happy when I saw that Elaine hated The English Patient. There were too many ppl loving that awful movie! Booooo!!!
Wise man
I’ve never walked out on a movie . If I feel the need to I just take a nap
One of my favorites! So funny 😁
Perfect for a rainy day 👊😉
Omg! My family walked in on me watching The English Patient and I was bawling my eyes out!! They thought a family member died…
Yeah I lost it in the cinema. Was a total mess.
If you want to cry about something that actually happened try Schindlers List. 99.9% of movies made today aren't worth wasting your time
@@lynnfisher3037 I saw Schindler's List and didn't cry. It made me sad but not bawl my eyes out like The English Patient.
@@rimmymindplease8120 Then you are an insensitive lout
This is how I feel for not liking “Poor Things.”
I was crazy about Quiz Show so wemt to his next movie.
After I walked out on the English Patitient was very glad to find out there were other people who couldn’t get it either.
I saw this Seinfeld episode years later. It's funny, but you relive the exasperation.
U realize that Elaine's friends are female versions of George and Jerry and Kramer Right ?? Look. Closer ??
One of the best episodes ever.
I saw the English Patient when I was 22 years old with some friends. A friend and I literally left in the middle of movie and snuck into another theater to watch a different movie. We were so bored! When we met up with our friends later, they lectured us for not liking the movie. No one- I mean NO ONE- understood how we thought it was so overrrated. This Seinfeld episode came out a couple weeks later and I felt so vindicated!!!!
I have to live in a cave🤣🤣 I love Elaine in this episode, she's funny 🤣🤣
I too know the pain of knowing a movie isn't good but everyone else judges you because they think it is good.
"It's just a stupid movie" - "that's what I'm talking about" 😂
I loooooooooooooved The English Patient ❤
I love this episode because it mirrored my own life. I remember sitting through The English Patient being bored out of my skull and wondering what all the hype was about. I couldn't wait for it to end. I remember I saw it with a girlfriend and my mom and saying afterward "this is going to be one of those films that for some reason wins the best picture Oscar but that nobody watches more than once."
You are extremely patient. I could not even watch the whole movie all at one time.
Same...I hated it too! Lol
The movies that did it for me were Enchanted April and Vincent & Theo. Like watching paint dry. I never had any interest in seeing the English Patient.
And every time I see a movie that won Oscars for unfathomable reasons (like Shakespeare in Love) I always have to see if Harvey Weinstein's name is attached., because he used to buy Oscar wins. Sure enough, he was Executive Producer of The English Patient.
I watched it...once. Honestly, I did enjoy Ray Fiennes' acting but it is just way too long and dry to watch again
@@thecheerio786 Yeah saw it way before alone and really had to power through it..Thought maybe it's just me..Then this episode of Seinfeld was a revelation..And yes it's 2hr42m...There have been many other duds but usually it's quick and relatively painless

Elaine should've said "Did they make it shorter?" after the lady said it's better the second time.
she's being sarcastic
Technically, you are right, but comedically the word longer hits the mark. Comedians and comedy writers will always tell you which words and numbers are funnier than others. Why are they funnier? Because they just are.
She made her sarcastic response from the other ladies' point of view since they said it was even better the second time. That's what made it funny.
She's saying maybe they added something good to it, therefore making it longer, and better.
@@steelyspielbergo No. She's saying that what people liked was how long and aimless it was so making it longer means making it more betterer.

Ralph Fienes in The Grand Budapest Hotel instead. Hes brilliant. "Oh, fck it."
Elaine speaks the truth!
Elaine's reaction describes my experience with The Notebook
The best comedian has given joy to many
How Elaine felt about "English Patient" is how I felt about Andor.
I can´t tell how many times Mr Peterman fired Elaine :D
And i thought i knew what love was!🤣🤣🤣🤣
Elaine was so great lol
This movie name alone could make you fall asleep mid day
It's how I felt about the Lord of The Rings. I watched it twice with friends at a house and left both times (in a respectful manner) and even tried to watch it alone but I could never get past the halfway mark. I understand why people love the movies but the genre (Medieval, middle-Earth) isn't for me.
Enjoy SACKED LUNCH! 1:34
The BEST part of this video was watching Julia get to have a scene with her Real Life Half Sister in the Diner! On a side note...Elaine is right..."The English Patient" Sucks from what I read and heard! 🤣

I have to side with Elaine on this one. because it was so critically acclaimed they made us watch this in class at high school back in the 90's and write essays about it.
Typical public school idiocy. Try teaching us how to do math without a computer chip. How about lessons in critical thinking. Oh I forgot. They don't know how themselves
Your school should just have shown Fargo. Probably the best movie of the 90's and came out at the same time

Let's be honest the only reason we remember the English patient was because of this episode lol
The English Patient was huge back in the '90s, I saw the movie in the theater well before this Seinfeld episode. This episode was based on the real life divide of people who either really loved the movie or really hated it back then.

Elaine and The English Patient - Me and Seinfeld. Wish I DID like it, because everyone else seems to love it. But not for me.
When my girlfriend became my ex, she told me that me not liking the marvel movies really bothered her.
Sounds like she's not a person of depth or intelligence. You dodged a bullet.
I lost my VIRGINITY during that movie. Dont ever make fun of it. It was a very speical moment
Every time I go to the movies and get stuck in a long boring film I want to yell "die, just die!". The last one was batman with that teen vampire guy XD
I fell asleep during the first Batman movie in 1989 and have not seen another one since.

This episode is the story of my life, I hate a lot of movies people like and they hate me for it, and I like a lot of movies people hate and they hate me for it too. I mean, some movies I like but can understand why people don't like them, which is why most of the time I say "Well I like it, but then again I have bad taste." But there is one particular movie I like that a lot of people hate and I don't understand why, I can't even say it by name without bringing a lot of hate down on me. Don't ask me what movie it is, I won't tell you, because saying what it is is like putting a sign on my back that says "kick me."

Please make a video on the mystery of Audrey (Poppie's daughter) refusing to eat Apple Pie 😂😂
Simple......She saw Poppy come out of the bathroom with dry (Unwashed) hands and proceed to make the crust with his bare hands smooshing and mushing and smooshing.....
That would do it for me....for EVER!
@@Heart2HeartBooks It was Jerry who saw Poppy not washing hands. She actually ate the pie which Poppy prepared. Also, she didn't eat the apple pie at Monk's when she was with Jerry, but she ate it when she came alone (Kramer saw her).
Yeah, that never made any sense. We knew why Jerry wouldn't eat Poppy's food but why would his daughter have the same visceral reaction to a random piece of pie? There was no set-up.
I lose it at 3:22 every time.

No, Titanic was much much better than The English Patient and popular opinion agrees. How many times have you been flipping channels and land on Titanic, which is sometimes being shown by, say, TBS, multiple times in succession. Nobody has ever done that with The English Patient. In fact I challenge anyone who claims to have liked The English Patient to admit that they have never once watched it again.
