Restricting the cubic feet per second (cfs) outflow during heavy rainfall in a reservoir can pose several dangers: 1. Increased Risk of Dam Overtopping: If the outflow is too restricted, the reservoir can fill up quickly, especially during heavy rainfall. This could lead to overtopping of the dam, which is one of the most dangerous situations as it can cause dam failure. 2. Structural Stress on the Dam: A rapid increase in water levels due to restricted outflow can exert excessive pressure on the dam structure. This might lead to structural damage, seepage, or, in extreme cases, dam failure. 3. Flooding Upstream: When outflows are restricted, the water level in the reservoir rises, which can cause upstream flooding. Communities or infrastructure located near the reservoir's banks may be at risk of being flooded. 4. Sediment Buildup: Restricting outflow can lead to increased sediment deposition in the reservoir. Over time, this reduces the storage capacity of the reservoir and affects its efficiency. 5. Delayed Release Issues: Holding back too much water during heavy rainfall may lead to a situation where water must be released suddenly after the rain subsides, which could overwhelm downstream channels and result in flash flooding. 6. Environmental Impact: Limiting outflow can also affect downstream ecosystems, particularly aquatic life, which depends on a certain flow rate to maintain natural habitats and water quality. Proper reservoir management typically involves balancing inflows and outflows to mitigate these risks, with an emphasis on preventing dam failure and minimizing flooding both upstream and downstream.

Prayers for all🙏🏾
Prayers for the residents of Newport TN!
Pray no more floods, lets see how them prayers work.😊
Let's thank United States Senators Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty
for not taking the $1 Billion Dollar, Biden, Floodway improvements money in 2021.
They said, "Everyone needs their own insurance, NOT Federal Funds" 3 years ago!
Pure Genius!
Not smart
nice lie, the Dam is own by Duke energy. Fed gov dont go to companys hat have a lot of money like duke energy
How would that help I40
That drunk Blackburn needs to be held responsible
I'm praying for all those people and the kids that live in that area and I'm praying for the animals that they survive as well, because this so tragic and very dangerous. When a dam breaks and they tell you to evacuate, people please go, don't wait, pack a bag and get away as fast as you can because water is nothing to mess with! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 PRAYING FOR EVERYONE THAT LIVE IN THAT AREA!
Now which Senators and Congressmen voted against the federal infrastructure Bill. GOD help the folks of Tennessee. 🙏🏽
yep all that money spent on infrastructure... oh wait... it was spent on everything but dams bridges roads... what a fricking joke. your cnn is showing
Yea vote all those democrats out of office
Do you actually think bills do what their name says. Has the Inflation reduction act reduced inflation. They put names on them like this so stupid people will just assume that is what they do. Like the Democrats border security bill that is the complete opposite of this. By the way that is a privately owned Dam.
Not a federally owned dam smart guy. Also a brand new dam will struggle with record river levels.
Too busy authorizing Billions of dollars to Ukraine.
Our house in Boone NC was totally destroyed by a landslide during Hurricane Helene. Insurance Denied. We need Cleanup Assistance. FEMA no where to be found,
Sell that extra water to western states.
We keep trying but Kansas keep blocking the Lousiana - Colorado pipeline.
@@ruffrider2626 Do Tell? Very Interesting. Thanks
Maybe they could get one of those faucets that Canada has?
If only there was some way to take extra rain to flooded areas that are too dry.
Too bad the water is contaminated with fuel, sewage, chemicals, oil, etc.
So did the place flood because of rain or because of a failed dam?
