Ronnie DeVoe reflects on being paid $1.87 after New Edition's first big tour

- New Edition was formed in 1978. Their name is taken to mean a new edition of the Jackson 5 and to the music scene. The group reached its height of popularity in the 1980s and is considered the blueprint for what would become the modern boy band. The lineup originally consisted of Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown, Ronnie DeVoe, and Ralph Tresvant. Brown w0as kicked out of the group in late 1985 to begin a successful solo career, and they continued as a quartet for one album, before adding Johnny Gill to the lineup in 1987. Early hits included "Candy Girl", "Cool It Now", and "Mr. Telephone Man". Here, Ronnie DeVoe rfects on the group's 40- year journey with celebrity interviewer Tim Lampley

Great interview!!! Love Big Ron and all the other members of NE. Been rockin' wit 'em for that 40 years!!! I've seen them twice on the Culture Tour and twice on the Legacy Tour and so hope they do this residency in Vegas, so I can see them a few MORE times. I know we're getting up in age now and time is short, but they are holding it down and I'm so proud of what they've been able to accomplish over the years. I was telling my Mom recently, how it would've been so cool for HER generation if the original members of The Temptations had been able to follow that same NE path and come back together years later and kill it. That would've been a sight to see as well. Big ups to New Edition and Brother Payne who had the vision. I love all of 'em... NE4LYFE!!!
Wow. Awesome for you. I caught the last show in Tampa on the Legacy Tour. If I had known it was that good I would've gone twice like You did! What do you think are the best seats to get for the best experience?
I don't typically leave comments online but... I LOVE THIS DUDE! I'm one of those people that grew up in the Menudo/Michael Jackson/Jacksons Victory Tour/Black Beat + Right On! Magazine era.. I used to rock the S-curl and Shag too! :-) I'm a professional Musician today... Ronnie.. Ralph.. Bobby.. Mike B.. and Ricky... You dudes are OUR Temptations/Jacksons.. and You're Loved and Appreciated! ---> My Kids Rock to Mr Telephone Man.. She Gives me a Bang.. and My Secret!

I enjoyed this interview! I've been a fan since day 1...whenever i go to a concert, I'm transported inwardly back to the 80's and that was a GREAT TIME TO BE YOUNG! Now at 50, I enjoy those songs just like i did back then. Happy to say their songs are on my workout Playlist 😁

I’m so happy for the group! The have always been my favorite group for as far as I can remember. Saw them in concert last year and I just seen the a few weeks back and lost my voice both times. Great interview!

He was right about the Comfortable shoes lol. I had on sandals and my feet were NUMB at the end of the show 😂. It was worth it though. It was AMAZING ‼️‼️💓
It is alot you can get with $1.87 back then 4 packs of now & laters, 2 bags of chips, and a ,25 juicy...
In the early 80's my sisters and I use to get $1.00 per week for allowance. Each of us use to buy a beverage, a bag of chips, and a candy bar with $1.00. Eventually, we began to receive $5.00 every two weeks.
