I'd say Cammy is actually pretty tricky to pick up for a newer player. Harder than guile even though the execution barrier is lower. She relies a lot on really good movement and positioning which is something that takes a long time to develop, with no fireball making it harder, and she has a lot of traps for newer players to fall into. Granted, these aspects only really come into play at higher levels, but when the gimmicks stop working at lower levels players will find themselves wondering what to do when her neutral requires so much precision. For example, a lot of lower rank Cammy's will use spiral arrow to approach and could even get away with it if the opponent doesn't know it's unsafe, then when they get to the point that people know it's super unsafe they're going to hit a wall. Same thing with hooligan. Sure it can be a good gimmick against people not ready for it or lower ranked players, but people as low as plat know you can just mash jab on her. Spin knuckle as well can become a crutch for lower level players that means they hit a wall at around Plat when people start to bait it with things like neutral jump. So overall, her combination of punishable gimmicks, no cheap/dirty options in neutral, and reliability on strong fundamentals make her a bit harder to play (imo) than the other characters in this vid. She does have a very simple gameplan though, good defense, great supers, low forward drive rush, smaller kit, easy execution on combos, good autopilot, easy looping strike throw etc so she is definitely not the most difficult if starting out; just harder than it would seem.
As someone who had only ever played Ken Sagat and Akuma and occasionally Rolento, I think Zangief is easy in this game because now he has more movement options. The games mechanics give him a lot to work with.
I would say Chun Li is a good beginner character too IF you dont use her stance combos and just stick with pokes and simple combos that come from jabs. The only tricky thing that makes her hard is her stance combos and getting her charges right. But I would say most beginner players would have no answer to her long light jabs if you want to bait out a DI or her crouch medium kicks.
Just picked up the game. Played around a little and want to use her. I know she got some changes from launch. Is there any recommended kids and guides for her and in general. And would old guide still work?
To me Luke is so, so difficult to play. I've played him since last patch and I'm conpletely stuck in diamond5 ... the problem is not even execution with perfects. More like navigating the neutral, confirming and managing meter in a reliable and consistent manner i guess...
Luke is meant for whiff punishing, compared to the other shoto’s his normals lets him move forward which is insane. You can do combos with Luke without needing to spend meter and obviously more meter usage=more damage. Force your opponents to over extend, punish accordingly and you’ll get master with him in no time 👍🏽
