Hello I'm new to obs and was starting to use it to live stream church services. Just wondering when you add text, does it appear on the recording or the live stream or where will I see it. At this point I only see it on the obs window on my laptop and no where else. I would like others to be able to see it on the live stream, great tutorial by the way

This one proved to be incredibly useful!!! Read from file + Transform Bounding Boxes means that I can create a distributable for people in my company who can simply change their name and position in a couple of files and they can start using OBS! They don't need to do ANYTHING OBS related except hit the Go button.
Thanks. I just started using obs and hadn't scrolled down to see all the options for the text. lol. I appreciate you taking the time to go through this. I do wish there was a bit more functionality with the text box, though. One example would be a bounding box for the text (if that's the correct term). The text on the left and right boundaries of the text box are too close to the edges. It would be good if a boundary around the edge of the text box could be set so the text might be more uniformly inside. Another function that could come in handy would be for text to be able to get resized following a shape. An example could be the word "fish" and the text lays out following the shape of a fish. Even simple geometric shapes could be helpful, like "Music" coming out of an image or video of someone playing the Saxophone and it's shape starting out small and getting larger and larger. Anyway, this isn't a criticism of your short video. It's just examples of functionality that would have been nice to use, and, from my limited exposure, it doesn't seem possible using obs. take care.
Hi there great work on the tutorial. I have been trying to get the output from a text file, but every time i tri it its get cut. How much is the size of the txt file to not get it cutted down, if you know?

I propose that we, as a species, close out of a video anytime that a creator brings up analytics about followers to watchers and all that. People know to follow. It sucks that they do not, but they know that they can.
@@MichaelFeyrerJr I think jsubject's criticism is far too harsh - but I in turn propose that you change the verbiage. "Am I doing something wrong" leaves something to be desired. I suggest instead that you pose the question as a statement, "You've probably watched 4 or 5 of my videos and maybe given a like, so why not subscribe! If you use OBS regularly you won't want to miss out and only discover that unique feature you want 5 months later, do you?" something like that shows that you offer quality and informative content and have confidence not just in your product but the value your information has to streamers and youtubers. It is trending for people to show "80% aren't subbed", and I don't know if that is suggested by youtube directly or just a trend people are getting in on - but it doesn't speak to the viewer. They're not going to feel bad "not" subbing, so in a way this kind of clip comes off as begging instead of demonstrating value like it is intended.
I use OBS to make my videos but I pre-record them in OBS before uploading them. How can I put text in those videos to show up only at certain points during the video?

Hello, My name is David Amrod and I am a relative newbie to OBS, only filming about 20 videos using it. I have done the same layout with each one, with a static picture taking up the right side of the frame while text of a scene of a story rolls up the left side. I just downloaded the update 28.1.2, and I have noticed that all of my videos only scroll through the first page of the text, and not all of the text as it used to. I do not know what changed or how to fix it. Help?
I wish there were some filter effects plugins to apply to text like you can do for After Effects. I have a standard template for tutorial vidoes, I want the the title to to appear on the screen like someone is writing it on a piece of paper. I have a video of a book opening to a blank page of paper, but I don't want to make a new video each time I want to change the title. I just wish there were more plugins for OBS.

I need to add the songs I'm playing in real-time and because I'm DJing from my iPad, I don't get to use a "now playing" plugin like I believe you can if I'm using the DJ software on my computer instead. This video is my intro to the text effects and this will indeed do the job, as I have to type out my playlist during the show. No plugins need; I like! But while I'm talking plugins, what do you recommend as a plugin to share chat comments on screen when using Twitch? I'm on MacOS. Again, really appreciate the good info!
Hello. I was wondering how one can have text scroll up to a picture, then go above the picture and continue scrolling, without scrolling over the picture... so it would be like 2 scrolls, one spaced at the bottom, and one spaced above the picture that has the scrolling text handed off to it?
And I hoped I would find a solution for a bended text (plugin) here, like in the (misleading) thumbnail... which I cannot create as an image because it' changes regularly (user names). Nevertheless a good video about the standard text features. 👍

For some reason this doesn't work on the mac, after I set the inner bounds, I can't change the size of the fonts, obs is a great program,, but it sucks for text, it is beyond me how in this darn age that these people still cannot figure out how to make a simple box to put text in without getting all the text distorted, I really do not understand why is it so hard to do something supposedly so simple.
I stream events with hundreds of people competing in a single day. In livestream studio i can pull a list from excel and click on the next name on the studio and push it onto the screen. Is there something on obs where i could import a long list of names like that and be able to individually select them to push them out on the screen? I am trying to do this on something other than livestream studio

Instead of having it flat against screen in an east/west direction...can it be changed to where the first letter of the text seems to pointing towards you and the remaining lets trailing in the back almost like a train?

There is a plugin that has some great ones I did a video on here. th-cam.com/video/1Ps3eyPCPB8/w-d-xo.html The other way is create your own animations in a video editor export them with the alpha and play them as media files.
My no.1 frustration with the OBS text tool is it's text length limit on horizonal scrolled text. It's the most basic ticker design yet you can't exceed more than 130 characters. I see here now I can display the quantity I want using a vertical scroll but that's a bit harder to read without using more space or slowing the text.

The thumbnail for this video shows a 'text effects' yellow circular text ring around the OBS logo next to you pointing at it, like 'I will teach you this specific skill.' I came here to learn how to do a circular text ring. I was a little disappointed when I found by the end of the video I was clickbaited on that one thing, but still learned how to 'read from file,' which I didn't know yet. Thanks! By the way, if all you do is one-and-done how-to videos, you can't expect many return subscribers. Try making more personal content as well to keep everyone tuning in again and again! I do like your CapCut video, but noticed that there is a missed opportunity for some back and forth with your viewers. Did you happen to stream that video as well, or have a chat going with your audience? Have a great day!
This looks awesome! I tried to follow the tutorial here, but for some reason I don’t have some of the options here. For example, I don’t have the Anti-Aliasing, or Text Transform option at all. There’s also no Background Colour option. Can someone help, please? I’m on a Mac running the latest update and my OBS is also the latest version. Cheers.

Is it possible to skip over an area while upward scrolling? So scroll, scroll, scroll, skip space, continue scroll, scroll, scroll?
Linux version of OBS doesn't come with Text (GDI +) and instead has Text (FreeType 2) because GDI is a Microsoft API.

get nothing like those options on my Mac OBS. for a start I don't see 'GDI+' just 'Free Type 2'
Mac text tools are different.

Hi, this was great..is there a way to have captions created in obs.
There are a couple ways. TH-cam actually has one natively I believe as well.

Is there a way that a text layer (or layers) can be rigged to be a number that counts up or down by one at the press of a hotkey?
You could make an animated overlay countdown that can be activated with a hot key.
@@MichaelFeyrerJr would that work for counting up by one? I’m trying to make a custom scoreboard that can be controlled by the streamdeck.
