Asics Superblast 2 Vs Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 | We compare the two versatile favourites

  • The Superblast 2 follows the hugely popular Superblast with a couple of key updates. The first of those is a new FF Blast Turbo+ midsole layer designed to be lightweight, bouncy and more durable, and there’s a redesigned engineered woven upper to improve comfort, breathability and fit.
    Underneath that layer is the thinner FF Blast Plus Eco foam that works alongside the FF Blast Turbo+ to improve cushioning and comfort of the ride.
    The Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 takes learnings from its hugely popular predecessors by making a few modifications to improve the ride. The most important of those is a re-engineered wing nylon plate to provide additional reinforcement while maintaining flexibility.
    There’s also an updated mesh upper design that aims to give a more secure fit than the slightly roomy Endorphin Speed 3, and a new lattice outsole rubber to improve grip and durability.
    Tom and Nick give their views on how the two shoes compare.

    I'm glad you did this comparison. I loved the original Superblasts. I'm currently training with the Endorphin Speed 4s and like them a lot. I feel they have a comparable feel, but with a lower stack height. I haven't taken the Speed 4s on a long run yet, though.

    My only problem with Superblast is that it wants to be a do it all shoe. We all know nobody is going to get just the Superblast and say that's it. If it's for just long runs then it has to be a bit cheaper the same price as the Speed.

    I currently use the Speed 4 for all my track/speed work. And I really like how it responds to being pushed hard. Slower, easier miles, however, don’t feel as nice. The foam is too stiff for slow. So I preordered the SuperBlast 2’s for my long runs and maybe easy runs as well. After watching this video…I feel pretty solid about that rotation choice. I tried the Nimbus 26 for my easy runs…but developed a hot spot in my right foot after 3 or so miles. I think it’s because the cushioning is a little too soft for my liking, as the fit is good. Hoping the SuperBlast 2 remedies the hot spot issues.

      @Fozzee.1970 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      The Nimbus hotspot was probably caused by insoles. Intends to go away once they are broken in.

      @@Fozzee.1970 I really hope so. I’ve run about 18 miles in them and love the way they feel. Plush. Exactly what I want to feel during an easy session. Hopefully they break in by mile 20 or so. Not giving up on them yet.

      @@mannyflores4507 Yeah i've just ordered the superblast 2 to fit in between the gel nimbus 26 & the speed 4. was using the gel nimbus for my longer runs and it has been working great but just need something that little bit quicker and lighter underfoot.
      Now i will be able to use the gel nimbus for my super easy/recovery days; Superblast 2 for my long runs/temp runs and finally the speed 4 for track and interval sessions.

    I haven't run in either of them, but the Saucony I've tried on my feet twice and on both occasions quickly decided it's not for me. It feels like the forefoot outsole is wide and flat and feels like running on planks (I'm a midfoot striker). I'm curious whether the Superblast can be a bit more fun and possibility accomodate a bit more speedy sessions than my Nimbus 26.

    The insoles of Endorphin Speed 4 is stiff not that soft found in Speed 3. This shoe is meant for fast pace and not meant for slower pace (because of firmness on the midsole). I hope in the fifth version they would make the insoles soft similar to Endorphin Speed 3,

    Hi Guys, very tough compare, as these both shoes are great ones, and the best if can afford to have both in rotation. Basically my current 2 kings in training are Superblast and Speed 3. So both previous versions. I've managed to grab Superblast 2 when released, haven't tried yet, same with Endorphin speed 4 in the box currently as have Speed 3 still pretty good for trainings with 378K, but it's my 3rd pair of Speed 3 I'm using. Previous 2 pairs I did 1000K in each. I love Endorphin speed lineup. Fully agree with you, Speed 3 and assume Speed 4 will be too, for interval harder sessions, but for me good for easy runs too. But Superblast is king for longer distances, easy runs and today was on 15x1K tempo 4:34/K-4:39/K my still areobic band and superblast was absolutely great , easily cruising though quicker paces. But for 200m, 300m or up to 500m or combined with 1K reps but not so many, or on the track and field, I like Speed 3 and later Speed 4. That's why to have both is a great rotation. Thanks and all the best, I love your channel!

    Great review! I'm a lightweight runner (61kg) training for a half marathon race (target pace 01:40:00), and I finally found a place with SB V1. I currently use the Sacouny Speed 3 for most of my runs. Would the SB fit my rotation as a light runner? and should I wait for the SB V2?

    Speed is a fun shoe. But it does need more forefoot protection. And it requires a plate which I don't find as an asset. It's fun and light but it doesn't offer any stability and cushion is average. Superblast is a far better shoe for me. I get all the protection and cushion along with a shoe that will do anything I ask of it.

    Can I add a bit on constructive criticism for the channel. Instead of going through the shoe specs every single time could you not instead just link to the spec video of the shoe and maybe just mention that at the start. There really is no need to keep going over the same thing and if people are like me just skip to the run test anyway so it's a waste of effort and time.
