Thanks Nik, the rules do exactly what they are supposed to do, just me being picky.

Crook and the '64 Valley campaigns are particular favourites of mine so I'm really interested to see you do this.

Thanks Martin, I hope you enjoy the videos. I am still learning the rules, a steep learning curve, but I am getting there.

@@TheDiomedef16 Always a bit of trial and error with new rules.

Thanks Seano, learning as I play at the moment. A good set of rules though.

1st Kernstown is my favourite small battle, learned that from the old airfix book by Terry Wise, way back in the 1970's, using my unpainted airfix 1/72 scale figures...I have played it so many times in 1/72..25mm 15mm & 40mm... all great fun :)

It is an ideal battle to get a handle on the rules. Still playing through it and learning all the time.

Thanks for posting the video! I’m currently learning the system and building my 6mm armies. A mixture of Baccus and Adler troops, both are quite good. I play and enjoy Black Powder and Sharp Practice in 28mm, but want to be able to game the “full” battles.

I mark fatigue by using a 6mm die in a die frame glued to the base,

      @TheDiomedef16  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Good idea Bill, I should have incorporated a die frame in the bases, I will just use different coloured chips to record fatigue.

I see what you mean about the paper markers, takes away from what you have done. Could you maybe have put flags on them, with maybe numbers on the flags ?

No easy alternative really, if solo the labels could simply be hidden beneath the base, but for our multi-player campaign, those stats need to be seen by the controlling player.

Wonderful review of the Altar of Freedom rules. The 6mm certainly seems to work with the small table size. Do you enjoy the 6mm scale or prefer a larger one for ACW?

Many thanks Dracan, I do enjoy 6mm and really do not have the room for 28mm.

Watch that d20 - it’d destroy the troops it rolled over! Lol. Interested to hear your reflections on these rules.

It sure is a big mother! Perfect for keeping track of turns though.

So much going on, and on a small table. I agree that it takes getting used to, with the markers and such. I know many people use a roster system instead, with a single marker on the table for each unit. Idk. That's a tricky one. But anyway, your layout looks good, and serves its purpose in this fight. Curious how you feel about the rules after you get the battle completed. Also, did you manage to get some dice? I noticed you have your ten siders and a GIANT 20 sider - love it!!! Hahaha... roll that big guy across the table. Nice. Thanks for posting, Ian.

I will be picking up a set of D&D dice on Tuesday, I have to go up that end of the road as I have a parcel to drop off at the Post Office.

Hi, did you come up with a way to randomise the priority points for the opponent whilst playing solo? Or did you play both sides?
Just about to start a game myself solo whilst I learn it.
    Thanks, all the best!

    • @TheDiomedef16

I simply swapped hats and played both sides to the best of my ability. It works fine for me, but may not suit everyone.
