  • My friend Kelly Sullivan was attacked by a fisher cat last month in Belchertown and shared her story with Western Mass News.
I am sharing this story to spread awareness of animal attacks and to have people be careful while camping or going out in the woods.
I don’t own the rights to the video and have it for awareness and entertainment purposes only.

My biggest fear would be that it had rabies. I hope they checked her for that. I don’t know if they can but I guess they need the animal.

Yeah and they won’t find it either. I’ve only seen them during twilight hours. Once saw one take down a dog twice it’s size. They’re like honey badgers but can climb way better.

They’re Fishers not Fisher Cats. In my opinion Fishers in large numbers are destructive to an environment. They’re not only ferocious, but also formidable predators, large males are able to kill full grown Lynx.

That info about killing a full grown lynx is sketchy. I've read about this, the source isn't reliable.

@@martytdd1606Happens in Canada enough to be a thing. The fishers catch lynx sleeping under trees in winter snow. Most wounds are back of the neck. So, stealthy attacks. Only a few instances found annually. So, not a common occurrence.
