Honestly if he was successful and everything worked out. Maybe the point he was trying to get across would not be as impactful as it stands to this day. His art only gets better as the last on is destroyed or lost.
Thank you! What an amazing video. Most, if not all, of us were led here by "Struggle." Yes, he was an egomaniac, but his self-assessment may have been accurate. Clearly his name deserves to be spoken with the same reverence we normally reserve for the greatest artists to have ever lived. It makes me wonder how many other sublime artists have fallen throught the cracks.
Szukalski was next level. The sculptures that he created were masterful. The expressions they exhibit and what they convey to the eyes is intense. They make you feel a certain way.
That's right, is kind like a twist your mind and feel something I'm your soul is kinda weird and very passionate and also too kind like take your breath away something strange
this dude was tapping into some other dimension, his work is so otherworldy and peculiar, but harkens back to the early man and their equally as bizzare and otherworldy art.

Will watch again and again. I haven't felt such an inspiration in a long time. Just old-school artist inspiration. It feels like we don't have that anymore! So thankful for this.
Wow! Brilliant mind! I just learned about Szukalski on the Netflix documentary. I had to share with my Polish family! His sculptures and Art are striking and they pull you in. Szukalski's work, just amazes me how someone can create such masterpieces. Thank you for creating the documentary!
Yes, it is very bizarre, it looks like he is depicting beings from other worlds, other dimensions or simply touching the core of our being , the essence of our phantasies, describing us in a unique way. It is either outwordly or simply very natural.
I think he was simply too profound for most people that "love" art as a fashion statement. They love to see art that reveal and describe the innerworld of others but they dont want to see themselves in it. I guess most people love the surface, the artificial, the cosmetic, the neutral but not the deep, the naked, yes sometimes unpleasent and disturbing truth.
Not even close to Dali in genius, and most of Dali's late work is overwrought kitsch - the early work and some later paintings are definitely great, however. Escher is vastly more interesting, though he remains a minor artist.
The name SZUKALSKI belongs among the pantheon of artistic gods of all time. Thanks to Glenn Bray for REdiscovering him and becoming such a good friend. Also to Leonardo DiCaprio for producing Struggle, the documentary.

People are too overwhelmed with life to be able to open and free their mind enough to create art like this. Everyone is influenced and his point to me is that we allow are minds to go the path naturally without influence. This is how he did this. He allowed his mind to take over without thought and just be. Breathe. Exist. Drop everything you have been told

Hi Pearly Baker Hi I am one of His admirers. In His and mine beloved Poland I had this luck to see and speak to one his Greatest Students Mr Marian Konarski aka Marzyn z Krzeszowic. This second name is so called MIANO which stand for old polish NAME. He said to all his disciples to pick and bear such a MIANO. So Mr Konarski told me at about 1990 or was it 1991 that he knows that many of his works and possesions were stolen first by germans and later by soviets or their puppets. He said the time will come they will show up and wiull attempt to sell, what they stole. and so that you know and other will. I was hunting for His art since years and however recently it is not present there but for a good few years there was a person on ebay selling originals of his BW photos for up to few thousands a piece.when i dug into this seller other items it was a whole bunch of nazi books and stuff.

The Netflix documentary was predictably pearl clutching. Barely showed any of his art but went on about how problematic his thoughts were back in the old country
the reason he is not well known is that his art although brilliant in detail and skill was not easy to understand or relate too, it was more mechanical in nature, crisp lines everywhere, everything coming to a crease, the intense lighting effect ,it was a fantasy style that did not reflect reality. There is not a guy depicted in his art that does not have chiseled 6-pack abs...how realistic is that? And the fact that he was a caustic ass to most of the art world and pompus to the max made him an outcast...just the way he liked it!
