I’ve actually never heard of eq before. I took my first iq test at 8 years old and scored 130 verbal and 131 nonverbal, i took it again at 16 and 18. Both times i scored identical but compared to my test at 8 noticeably higher. I scored 166 verbal and 186 nonverbal. I have Asperger’s syndrome and all the test i have taken on emotional intelligence. On a body language test on just the eyes and then full body language i scored a whopping 0. It causes me to constantly overthink because I don’t read them very well.

    • @tjboylan20

@@Meleeman011 yes what the test consisted of 20 sets of eyes and there was 4 options of what emotions the person was exhibiting for example: Joy Shock enthusiasm and anger. You would pick what it looked like based off the eyebrows , foreheads and eyes. The second portion was pictures of full bodies in certain postures with the same 4 options of choice. Each question was different. This was part of my psychology class in high school and this certain test was from a psychological study on austism. People who have autism have a very low EQ typically. I do not remember the name of the study off the top of my head i still have all of my documents on it.

Now as a person with IQ 135 meeting a genius, I'm actually pondering about how youtube videos make themselves earrape/increase viewer watch time based on background music.
My thoughts are that they are best in a minor key, and somewhere between 400-2Khz in terms of pitch frequency for the best listening experience as well as not drowning out narration of any kind, or be drowned out by talking.

Not very surprising for me that my EQ might not be the best. Due to several mental health issues, I know already that I may be very empathic and observant in others, but terribly bad at knowing and/or controlling my own emotions. I question them, their right to be and thus repress them very much. So I can see myself in quite some of your descriptions, maybe most in number 2 (perfectionist) and 5 (very much neglegting my physical and emotinal boundaries for work and others). Still working on it though, but it's a real iceberg...
And you still kepp doing such a great job with your videos.

I just started a book called Emotional Intelligence 2.0, and I'm happy to see emotional intelligence getting more attention. I just learned of emotional intelligence in recent years and it makes things make a lot more sense not just with myself but other people. I posted about on social media and someone commented saying it's a very difficult area for a lot of people. While I know there are a lot of factors, my first thought is it is likely difficult because it involves taking an honest look in the mirror and take accountability. It is challenging, yes, but it is SO helpful when you take the time and effort to do it.

5:59 exactly. I feel time pressure almost ruin IQ tests (although I know they are there for a reason). Because when I have tried to take IQ tests I got so worried about time running out when I'm perhaps still in the middle of trying to solve a problem that I just answer randomly/on intuition instead to be sure I get to answer at all. When I maybe (but not for certain) could have solved it. I think successfully, but "too slowly" solving a question should still account for something. And maybe have an option to not see the time countdown.
Not saying I would have a high IQ score otherwise (highest I have scored was 115, but not sure if that score is correct), and I know its not super important or defining you as a person. But the test themself would be better and more accurate if time was a bit less of a factor.

Attempt to tactfully inform someone of an error or try to help, you get accused of "man-splaining." Perhaps it's fortunate that I never was a teacher, for that reason alone.

    • @AkitoLite
      @AkitoLite 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

College cannot tell your IQ or EQ at all. Getting a good GPA doesn't mean you have a high IQ. It could really just mean you have alot of discipline and study really hard. same goes for EQ, literally anyone who is in college is stressed, especially the ones who work really hard.
You have so much to learn about in college that honestly IQ wouldnt take a big role in your gpa.
The stress and anxiety may come from sleep deprivation (which is VERY common among college students)
Honestly this video is very wrong about all of this. literally everyone and their grand mother have those "signs".
If you want to know your true IQ and EQ, the normal and reliable thing to do is to just take an IQ/EQ test. Even if you dont have the time to take the test on paper, you can do it online. (Although i didn't find any EQ test)
You can do an IQ test on the Mensa web page. it isnt a "complete" IQ test but it should be fairly accurate as it is the largest and oldest high IQ society in the world. It is a non-profit organisation open to people who score at the 98th percentile or higher on a standardised, supervised IQ or other approved intelligence test.

I’ve had multiple conversations with random people through my job where I have told them I feel like I need to talk to somebody like a psychiatrist. I’ve had a odd life experience up until this point. I know I get my high IQ from my father but he himself has had a mental breakdown. My mother has a developmental disability that she has done to my brother. I now care for my two children and my mother after my wife and I divorced. My ex-wife was bipolar and we were together for 11 years. I’ve never had a strong female role model in my life And I wonder what kind of issues that’s caused me. My divorce was five years ago and I haven’t dated since. I seem to have extremely high anger emotions that I’m careful not to take it out on anybody. And my daughter just asked me to take her for snowcones so I will come back and edit this later.

      Psychologist here.
Usually people who live through what you lived can experience depression (the symptoms of it may vary from the reasons and triggers). However it would be non-ethical to diagnose anything just there but it appears you have more than one good reason to seek for help. I strongly recommend you to look for a psychiatrist as well as a psychologist to talk about those and manage those anger issues you mentionned. It appears to me you can elaborate on what hurt you which is good, and if you're looking for a way to get better, act this way, you're on a good path.

you know, I'm just reading this 4 days later and just saw the video. I also posted after I saw it just now! I was wondering the same thing....In relation to Bipolar, I have BPD. I heard there are 4 types, but we'll just stick to the "broad" spectrum, that is it makes an individual emotionally unstable, 24/7...After I watched, even during, hearing all these results, I thought something that I was very intrigued of researching after I get off here. I wondered what the correlation and responses were to people that had BPD or other personality disorders...Now I'm thinking of also people who have had to live/deal with people like us, but are family members, or close friends...I'm sure there have to be results out there. I know it's affected my fam/friends a great deal, just like yours.
Now that I"m 21, I love doing research on this stuff. Especially my constant ongoing interest in psychology, & psychology research.....Before though, I never liked doing this, or learning about it, at all. So I was wondering how the fam/friends thing, & how it would be related in IQ/EQ

Ok, so since I am called "illogical" or being told that I barely have any IQ, I was shocked with how accurate point 1 was (then again I didn't relate to the low EQ part). In point 2, I can say that I am a high achiever but definetly not a perfectionist. While I used to get annoyed with small mistakes more often when I was younger, I don't get frustrated that often anymore and have learned to improvise a lot.
I don't relate to point 3 at all. I think everyone procrastinates and I do it out of laziness. I don't really remember trying to form ideas in the meantime but I sometimes complete a minor task while delaying a somewhat major task. I don't think I ever destroyed myself in order to complete a project but if it did happen, it would've only happened if I was really enthusiastic about that project in particular or was under pressure of the deadline. Funny how my parents mainly react to point 6. For me, it depends.

I have both a high IQ and a high EQ, but I'll tell you, this is not something a person would want to have. They make me understand, care, become involved, and try to help people who do neither deserve or appreciate it. I once had a young checkout girl at a grocery store, tell me her father was fooling around with her, so I tried to get involved and help her, and they called the police on me. The police shook me down like a dangerous criminal. This messed with my mind. Several other times in life, I've tried to help people where I ended up humiliated and royally screwed

This is me to a damn T. I can't identify emotions though I do feel them with great intensity. I figured out it was a complex called Alexithymia. Cleared up some things. Especially when my therapist that I was seeing for my other mental disorders couldn't understand me and I could never answer the question of "What are you feeling?" It was a mess and still is because you can be detached from others at times. And being an empath, it's a nightmare trio. But this is helpful.

I remember taking an IQ test, I didn't take the score well; it said I was below average, all it did was reinforce the negative self-talk I have and diminish what literally *everyone* who knows me says. I'm still dealing with this shock over a year later. And I don't need an EQ test to know that I'm emotionally immature; I have a condition that I rather not talk about right now that makes me fall behind on a human quota. According to both my mom and counselor, I have the emotional compacity of a fourteen year old, even though I'm eighteen years old, if you hadn't put it together at this point, I don't have a lot of self-esteem.
EDIT: To @MichaelBrennock and @DeviH , and everyone else who's been an amazing help with my self-esteem, I got some GREAT news for you; my hard work during school is officially recognized by President Joe Biden himself! I am *SO* flipping happy!!!! =D

Don't lose heart! As long as you are aware of your limited EQ and are putting in the effort to improve, you should make progress. Don't be afraid to ask for feedback from people you trust.

@@megabyte01 What I said about my mother and counselor input on my emotional capacity was said after over *ten years* of hard work trying to improve, obviously it's not enough; than again *NOTHING* I ever do seems to be enough so *what else is new?* }=|
**sigh** I will say this, all six points in the video reflects me but I'm pretty sure it's because of my condition, not the message Sci was talking about. And I do try to make new friendships, but I'm socially awkward and *very* distant to modern life styles so I'm working with nothing here. I think you get the point, I've lost heart ages ago but I'm too stubborn to give up.
Alright might as well talk about the two points you've mentioned; 1: I have trust issues so that's going to be a hindrance for asking people I trust about my EQ. 2: I *NEVER* slack off work, it gives me *MAJOR* anxiety and stress if I don't get the work done; in fact this mentality has gotten so strong that I'm actively being encouraged *to* slack off because my work ethic is destroying my mental health, but at the same time these are also the same people who's drilled into the core of my brain that no matter what I do it's never enough so *WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?!?!?!?!?!?*

@@tommyfox854 I agree with Devi: you do sound intelligent, and you should be kind to yourself. I also suspect that the range of maturity for people at 18 years old varies wildly based on life experience. As they say with cars, "It's not the years, it's the mileage"
I can relate to that little voice in your head that tells you, falsely, that it's never good enough because it can always be made better. It makes it hard for me to know when enough is enough when I'm working towards a goal, or even just for tasks. Perhaps journalling can also help you to reflect on the work you've done and how you feel about it? It could help with the negative self talk and with objectively looking at what you've accomplished. It's just an idea of course.

Hi there, just wanted to help you understand things more clearer because im an Empath. DARK EMPATH is NOT an empath at all. Psychologists just coined the term empath alongside with the word "dark" because they are known for faking empathy for manipulation. genuine empaths may even hide in plainsight because they dont wanna be recognized for it. empaths are here to create something for the world and that it doesnt have to be big or grandiose. It can be something that brings inner growth, console, peace of mind or happiness.
I also wanna point out that Empath DONT have LOW EQ, our only problem is SENSORY OVERLOAD. Dark empath is another personality type and ACCORDING to the experts, it is more dangerous than the cluster B types of PD.

Just use these characteristics to help yourself to do whatever you want to do in life. I'm not so much of a perfectionist all the time, but I am at my work. It has to be just so. So I use that to motivate me to get better at my work. I use, what I call constructive laziness. I love to read so I would rather do that than say housework. So, I tell myself to get the housework done first then I can read without anyone bothering me about my work. I'm blunt and tell the truth, but I have learned to use the guide of "tell the truth in love" to help me soften my words so I don't hurt others. I think people who care enough to be watching these videos are intelligent and self-aware. Otherwise, they would be doing something else rather than improving themselves.

There's nothing like the "Emotional Intelligence Quotient" on a standard psychological test whatsoever as far as I see them.
However, as a psychogist, you HAVE to interpret the tests people do and you can THEN use the results to know a little more where to go and what to work with them in therapy.
I get that this video is made for those who believe in it but please, I'd really like if you could tell people about the risks of being stuck in a beneficial loop that make them go like "oh I will not improve on myself, you know, because I'm "this" or "that".
I know it helps to know what you could have, but with a lot of people trying to find anything and autodiagnose online what they have or what they are, it just gets in the way of the improvement they could do for themselves, sometimes they even get stuck DEFINITIVELY because they brainwashed themselves with "opinions video" they see as "scientific facts". It's called denial and you know that I think.....
And btw anyone who run those tests with patients are highly critized as we know in the community they are barnum effect related.
Those kind of tests could be named "you have no disability or impairement so you can feel and empathize" it would be less selling for sure, but closer to what they evaluate.

This was after a long series of fits. I always used to fall into a sort of torpid condition after such a series, and lost my memory almost entirely; and though I was not altogether without reason at such times, yet I had no logical power of thought. This would continue for three or four days, and then I would recover myself again. I remember my melancholy was intolerable; I felt inclined to cry; I sat and wondered and wondered uncomfortably; the consciousness that everything was strange weighed terribly upon me; I could understand that it was all foreign and strange. I recollect I awoke from this state for the first time at Basle, one evening; the bray of a donkey aroused me, a donkey in the town market. I saw the donkey and was extremely pleased with it, and from that moment my head seemed to clear.’ ‘A donkey? How strange! Yet it is not strange. Anyone of us might fall in love with a donkey! It happened in mythological times,’ said Madame Epanchin, looking wrathfully at her daughters, who had begun to laugh. ‘Go on, prince.’ ‘Since that evening I have been specially fond of donkeys. I began to ask questions about them, for I had never seen one before; and I at once came to the conclusion that this must be one of the most useful of animals-strong, willing, patient, cheap; and, thanks to this donkey, I began to like the whole country I was travelling through; and my melancholy passed away.’

I have really low EQ, I procrastinate alot, i have trouble with my relationships, have intense emotion, I am always the brightest when it comes to brain using tasks, so I always test my IQ in websites , I always get around 131 to 138. But lately I don't even know what to do with my very low EQ , I can't find a career / what i really passionate about , I am still searching for it , hope one day i will find it but right now I don't even know what to do. I miss the time when I forget selfcare and work hard to those works that use too
    much brain.
