I have the same vehicle, when i drive it for while, it feels like it gets no gas, i can barley go up a hill. but if I take it slow and keep mashing the gas pedal I might make it home. I have zero problems on startup and zero problems at idle
Hello! Thank you for posting your question. No, no need to calibrate the idler the computer will reset. you can disconnect the battery for a minute and let the car idle and it should go back to normal. Let me know if you have any questions.
I have a 97 GMC c1500 and when I start it it idles to 1500rpms for a couple of seconds then goes to normal idle for a second then jumps back to 1500rpm then goes back to normal and it does it every time I start it. Do u have any idea what can be causing that? Any help is appreciated. Thank you
Hello. Thank you for posting your question. Have you disconnected the idler control valve and see if the problem persists? What previous repairs have you done to the truck? Keep me posted.
@@gqautodiagnostics no I haven't and I've replaced the IAC valve with a new one and it got worse. It would idle to 2500 rpm so I just put the old one back in for now
I have a 5.7 idling at 2200rpms. With no helpful codes. Could iac be bad and cause rpms to go that high? Spraying manifold with brake Clean shows no leaks.
Hello, thank you for posting your question. It is possible that the idler got stuck and that would be the reason why idle is too high. However, check the throttle cable (drive by cable) and the cruise control cable that both are in the correct position. Keep me posted.
