I have a Sony VHS device. Model: SLV-950 I have a Sony STR-DN1080 amplifier. My question is; Some VHS movies have the Dolby Surround logo on the box, but I cannot get Dolby Surround sound.Only PCM 2.0... What should be the correct connection?
You have to decode the surround track embedded within the stereo track on the tape. That is done using a Pro Logic receiver. Don't know the gear your using though.
@@5minutesofretro Thanks for the reply sir. Sony STR-DN1080 amplifier is a Dolby Atmos supported device. My VHS video is Sony SLV-950 model. (From devices containing DVD players) I don't understand whether I can't get Dolby sound because I connected it with the standard cable we know. There is no other connection type anyway. When people are curious about such things, they become obsessed with them :))
Newer receivers don't have ProLogic decoding capabilities. That's your issue. You have to get an older model. My Marantz Cinema receiver can't do it either. That's why I have an older model Pro Logic decoder between my Laserdisc and VHS/Beta-players for times when I want to listen to the original stereo surround off older formats.

@@5minutesofretro thank you Sir. Greetings from Istanbul 🙌🙌
What edition/year to get, if I want the best Laserdisc coverage?
My last edition is from 2006 and it lists all Laserdisc releases. I don't know what later editions have to offer.
Blasphemy. Police Academy 4 and First Blood were both masterpieces 😂
I agree. At least with First Blood :P
