If you take the government's money, it should be public information. You don't have a claim of "privacy"
100%, it should be published on the departments website. People who received R350 had to line up in public for hours waiting 4 the post office to give them the money. Artist, etc. think they are special, nothing is shaming here, unless you they don't deserve it.
@@therealmncwanegwabeni7263my bra so now they must give us the list of everyone getting sassa grant and everyone in tenders with the government
Not the government's money. belongs to taxpayers!
It must be a very bitter pill to swallow when Gayton went to prison for his crime and there are many in government that are guilty of crimes and have not been punished.....
That bitter pill might help us hold some people accountable.
@@Prof.Maxwell yes - that's what Im hoping for too.... Unless Squirrel tells Gayton to "wind his neck in" for fear of Gayton exposing him too....
Gayton is a convict who shouldn't be serving in the government.
Gayton is the winner in this GNU😂🏅
Hes killing it 😂😂😂 this occupation was a blessing in disguise
definitely
I hope this would motivate many in the cabinet
I feel like GNU exposes one another and who's better candidates, ramapoza is destroying his own Comdre now but showing that he is the capitalist enemy of the people 😅
Many ANC ministers would push such things under the carpet. WELL DONE MINISTER GAYTON!👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
If you get public funding you absolutely should be outed
100% POPI should not apply here. The government must account to the public.
Especially Covid funding

They must show us the list of all sassa grants
@@Cairo96 true especially if the real recipient(s) of it aren't getting it and it's going to someone in government/ the private sector which probably often already happens

Gayton was also in prison for his crimes.Everyone who committed a crime must face his own crime. This doesn't mean that Gayton hates certain people.
Oh come on why should this be a secret. Public funds are being used
Is it a crime or ethical ? If the answer is yes to both then the minister must report to the police or ethical committee in government
We want them to be exposed so that they dont benefit next time @@DumaM-ir7rk
If you are on ARVs must the government list you as people who are costing the country.why not name the people who processed the funds.
When receiving public funds, one must understand that disclosures will happen as a matter of transparency & accountability. This should be clearly stated in all govt funding application documents
True 👍
So you saying they must show us the names of all the people getting sassa grant

Gayton stands for truth and transparency. Well done Minister 👏 ✔️ 👍
I have respect for this man Minister mckenzie. Because he is exposing the evil that has been lurking for over 30 yrs. Public funds stealing and no one behind bars. While the president smiles and hides his couch and the previous president build a fire pool with public funds at nkandla. What a joke. I have 100% respect for Mr Mckenzie. He is real
We need the IDC, Land Bank and every institution receiving government funds to produce their lists.
We also need to know who got contracts for Eskom, transnet and other government institutions
That'd be interesting 🤔
Contracts are publicly available on the site of nearly all government institutions including who put in the bid for what amount
@@ikkeixarra4255 thanks we will check. Now all this big contract must be decided in parliament not by ministers anymore
Nothing wrong with applying for Covid Fund, but many were rich and not destitute.
Some had salaries to pay out. So I heard
@@conniepothas9760but there is nothing wrong with the list being made public and it does not necessarily mean that people appearing on the list were corrupt. Nobody said they were corrupt
@MzamoAdoons372 I agree. That it should be made public. All government expenditures should. But it keep getting implied that more white people ask for money and they don't need it. That's what I have a problem with. All artists could have applied. The government should never have stopped people for business.
@@Tinker8531 one can never really know someone's pocket, especially when it comes to artists who usually portray themselves as monied, when they are infact broke. Either way, artists lost out on gigs due to the lockdown and did deserve some sort of support from the govt. Rich or not.
It was wrong in the sense that it wasn't distributed fairly

Gayton for President ❤
GaYton Mckhenzie is the new Minister on FIRE
It's interesting that more than 24hrs after the leaking of the Matondzi affidavit linking the EFF to VBS looting, no rushed emergency episode from SMWX about the matter.
But EFF was linked to VBS long ago, where have you been. Daily Maverick had a whole investigation tracking Floyd's credit card showing how his wedding was paid for with VBS funds.
...because it does not serve its biased agenda..
His father is the chair of the EFF
Bear in mind that this is not biased media controlled by white suprimist Rupert and friends. This one is real, makoya 😅
He'll find some "theory" about how this is a political ploy and not really representative of the true EFF or it's values. Julius is genuine and the struggle must continue 😂
I've struggled with unemployment and the list left a bad taste. Maybe I should've gone into entertainment and not paid my taxes and still benefit from government. My distrust for government has grown and I don't see myself supporting these artists the way I used to. Zero ethics in this country and we wonder why everything is crumbling.
Did you apply for relief?
It is like they are paid for not entertaining us😂😂😂
Minister Gayton is 100% correct in doing the Right thing for The People. Who is benefiting and why people Don’t pay TV licences for rubbish being shown in SABC?
We want to know who got contracts at Eskom, Transnet, PRASA and many other governments institutions

It is unfair if you want all that from Gayton. He is the Minister of just one department.

There should be no secrecy. The government forgot that they are using taxpayers' money to serve the people. They should be civil servants of SA's citizens. They clearly are not.
You should cultivate the notion that we are all South African. Keep up the encouraging discussions.
Looking forward to your episode on the VBS files outing the EFF....
Well done Minister Gayton McKenzie. Excellent balanced podcast episode
It's our tax payer money. We are allowed to know what happened to the money. Is you have to hide stuff it means you are guilty
As a taxpayer, it's good to know where my money is going. All government departments must publish such lists showing which individuals/companies receive money from these departments Annually. Transparency and Accountability must be the name of the game for this GNU to succeed. Let the chips fall where they fall, enough of Corruption 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
18 months 😁 s not far away 😊
There is no such thing as government money; only taxpayers' money 😏
Taxes are revenue to the government, it’s not a donation from tax payer. Taxes are one of several sources of revenue. Once it’s in government coffers it’s all government money. They also run deficits so get loans to cover that, they also charge levies, royalties and sell licenses etc. If we are going to be pedantic about it, the government in a democracy is the people.

Well. The Department of Arts and Culture generally doesnt do well at spreading the funds it is meant to disperse. Them and Lotto. Im from Limpopo and it is often the case that the same artists and organisations get funding for their projects year after year despite there being evidence of young artists on the ground that struggle to get resources for their projects. Municipal museums show collections of art that are rarely comprised of local talent. Small towns/cities rarely get support. Yet we are often told that funds were released when less and less is done for artists on the ground.
True. Its those close to the right ppl who get funds not those who need it.
I'm not a supporter of Gayton, but 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 to Gayton.
All these secrecies must become public. We want to know where the money is siphoned
When approached for comment, Ian Cameron said that “I oppose race quotas, and as a member of Afriforum Youth in 2011 participated in a protest to this effect. However, I acknowledge that blackface is not acceptable in modern society and for that I apologise - it detracts from the point we at Afriforum Youth were trying to make about exclusion on the basis of race quotas."
Sizwe I long lost faith in applying for grant funding, as you have said it the applicants knew the system.
Q: Why would anyone who received public funds be ashamed or embarrassed about that? Reasons would probably only be if they misrepresented their eligibility or if there was some undue preference they benefited from. Transparency outweighs personal angst is what I say... It's taxpayer money and we have a right to know who got what and why. Period.
So if you on ARVs,must the government list you as people who are costing the country.name the people who processed the funds
@@Cairo96that is protected information ito law relating to medical records(Privalaged relationships between med prac and patients)...this is something completely different. You're argument is weak and without thought...please try again.
POPI Act only allows the collection and processing of personal data for a specific purpose that is lawful, justified, and compatible with the reason it was collected for. In this instance the beneficiaries information have been misused by the Dept through the MEC, as the divulging thereof in public domain was not an intended purpose. Furthermore, the preservation of their personal dignity, a core human right in the SA Constitution has also been breach by this public official, a week after taking an oath to upheld the self-same Bill of Rights.
In accordance with the POPI Act’s principle of Openness, citizens should be informed about the purpose for which your personal information will be used, whereupon permission should be obtained from them to that end.
Also, the receivers of such data should ensure that the information accurate, complete, and up to date, and take reasonable steps to ensure its accuracy.
Apparently, none of these legislative prescripts were adhered to by the Dept, who should have advised the Minister. Apperantly, people's names were listed as beneficiaries who never received any assistance from the Dept.
Aggrieved parties can have a field day in court with this apparent malicious act on the part of the MEC and his advisors, all for the sake of political expediency.
I foresee legal claims far exceeding R73m being instituted against the Dept with good chances of success. Government should set an example in the upholding of their own laws.
As the courts has set precedent with the CR17 donor list, I can't see how the MEC is going to be able to disentangle himself from this mess.
How will the public ever again have confidence in putting your name or info to any official document or application form, knowing very well chances are it will appear in the press a few years down the line, for the sake of personal political clout.
@@pvs3334 I don't need schooling... In the profession and well informed, thank you. You miss the point professor. It's a social / moral / ethical issue. Read more books if you like but wake up to the real world that we live in.
@redhowell7856 The intention was never to belittle, to sound academic, or to patronize, apologies if so received. The point is that when the dismissal of Individual Privacy Rights is cheered on by the public, it is cause for grave concern because all other human rights hinge on the former.
Whether it be the preservation of personal property ownership, religious thought, own ideas and convictions, bodily integrity, etc.
I think we should mature democratically and graduate from first tier needs thinking, to be able to understand what a dangerous slippery slope this presents.
Even the media has to petition the government or courts to obtain sensitive info and have to prove that its intended publication is in public interest.
One should at least expect the MEC to have at least adhered to similar exercises before his Dept divulged personal data of citizens in the public sphere. They now, after the fact, try to suggest that there could be discrepancies & improprieties with the info and possible corruption by their own officials. We, as the public, need the shielding of our rights from government abuse simply because they have enforcement powers to request our personal data.
Most taxpayers don't even know these peoples ...what about other people who were also out for months in there profession ...now they must pay back ...
I would like to see other new ministers taking out dirt from under their carpet in their sector.
Sizwe let me first express how I love the way you ‘balance’ a review of a sensitive issue, well done mfana cause you do it so well I wish people could learn like myself😊. Now let’s say beneficiaries of ‘any’ state funds should expect that monies spent do get scrutinised for transparency. This is done to prevent fraud ,waste and abuse and if the beneficiaries of these funds didn’t know this hay ke bayazphambanisa! From my side there is absolutely nothing wrong Gayton has done here and, if you didn’t claim the cash legitimately it’s best to retain your dignity and return the cash before the officials start probing. I don't understand why people on the list are being shamed when infact there was an entire drive for artists to apply and get some financial relief. Why are they now the bad guys?
Tell us who these artists are
@ nonhlanhlamadlala5034 good question . My question is if they have committed crime then why we don’t report to the police and if it’s ethical matter than deal with them on the ethics and publish later after you have heard both sides. Is it a crime to apply and qualify?
Who shamed them? Tax payers are asking what going on with their money that's all.

Sizwe, you are really doing the most with your channel! By far my favourite channel
Wow, thanks!
It's good for Minister Gayton to put things in the open. He must be having a rational agenda behind all this
Why should people feel betrayed if it was not stolen money.
Have been a public servant, everytime an annual salary increase was due, it would be publicized even though names were not published. We would be overwhelmed with marketers phoning morning to evening selling things, relatives would come and ask for loans, banks would attract us with an increase in credit card limits etc . We never complained because it was done by Govt.
There's too much corruption because things are done under the table/ carpet.
Well done Minister . Arm chair critics will stop deceiving people as if there's nothing they get from Govt.
But if this is not criminal or ethical. My question is why publish the list ?
