Canada needs to open the Northwest Passage for shipping. We don't need to build it, it's already there. We don't need to build lift locks, we need ice breakers and we'd make billions annually in free PROFIT in passage fees.
It cuts 2 weeks travel time, 5000km off the route and saves shipping fuel fees of over $100,000 versus the Panama canal. This would help global warming without cost Canadian a cent in carbon tax.
Refineries needs to be built in Alberta and Sask to turn our oil into gasoline.
Pipelines should be built North (not East West) to the Northwest passage from Alberta and Sask and from Manitoba to Hudson Bay and from Ontario and Quebec to James Bay to ship our oil, liquified gas, gasoline and BC, Quebec and Ontario lumber to Europe. Sawmills in Northern Ontario will reopen.
A shipyard needs to be built on East coast to maintain and build our nuclear powered icebreakers, liquified gas carriers, aircraft carriers and submarines to rebuild our military and protect our own borders. Quebec Bombardier will make our military jets. All onboard jet and ship software and services will be provided by Canada's Blackberry.
All built by Canadians with Canadian tech, nickel, steel and minerals and powered by Ontario built nuclear power plants and Quebec electricity.
High paying NEW jobs across the country.
When someone stabs you in the back, you don't pull the knife out and hand it back to your attacker. We don't need the USA, the USA needs us. No more discounted oil and gas prices for them making us billions more in free profit.
How much is all of this going to cost? I don't know and don't care. You don't buy a house with cash, you pay it off over years. Let's say it's a Trillion dollars. All of the Northwest passage fees and new oil, gas and lumber sale profit will pay for it eventually, so its actually free.

We need to get rid of Trudeau who only cares about DEI and and gender identification. We have a higher GDP than Russia but are somehow scared of them? We can be strong and don't need anyone. We need to get to business and if the US wants to be our friend great, if not let them used the dried up canal and get their resources from somewhere else.

This is the only USMCA section that our leaders should be talking about right now.
      Article 34.6: Withdrawal
A Party may withdraw from this Agreement by providing written notice of withdrawal to the other Parties. A withdrawal shall take effect six months after a Party provides written notice to the other Parties. If a Party withdraws, this Agreement shall remain in force for the remaining Parties.

We need to realize the value of Canada and protect it. Even now we encounter a lot of problems due to mainly bad and incompetent leadership, as long as most of Canadian realize the causes, we will be able to recover and keep Canada great again!

It used to be the best country in the world. Not any more. All that immigration is changing Canada to a 3rd world country. I am 68 years old I have never seen the homeless camps all over the country. In the past homeless were hardly any and they were always people that chose it. Now homeless include families and everyone. 25% of Canada is currently homeless and in a couple years we will likely reach half of Canada. If you cant see that you are absolutely blind.

How would North Carolina fare as a country or the Confederate States of America if they won their independence because of slavery? If slavery was abolished in the CSA by 1900, would the CSA still have a reason to exist? Canada got its independence because of the British Empire, now that the British Empire no longer exists then what is a separate country called Canada for anyway?

I agree, here in Canada we’ve always had the attitude that we are safely tucked under the United States wing and that if anyone threatened us, all we had to do was call Uncle Sam to come save us, and with that attitude we’ve let our military fall to pieces with nothing but junk for military equipment and no manpower.
This is a huge irritant to the US, even before Trump.
They’re not stupid down in the US, they know we could never defend this country without them and most Americans don’t understand the Canadian mentality of not needing a military to protect our country.
The problem is most Canadians have never lived in a country that is or has been occupied or attacked by a foreign power and have no idea what it feels like to have everything you have taken away from you or driven out of your home with nothing.
History repeats itself, countries in Europe have made mistakes like that in the past and the people of those countries ended up paying the price for it

I have been throughout the U.S. and Canada. Some Canadians don't realize how good they have it..If Canada became part of the U.S. the first thing needed would be many many more prisons..and say goodbye to universal healthcare and hello to many more slums. You see boarded up houses almost every where in the U.S. cities and towns but very rarely anywhere in Canada..Everything in the U.S. is about money and morals be dammed unless you have money and can afford them..We help the poor here in Canada so they are not forced to make bad decisions.Something the U.S. has never really understood.. People will usually do what they have to given no choices..Without good social services for the poor crime becomes the only alternative for many..simple fact.

@who_ever I'm not for fighting, I am for persuading, those who want to portray it as fighting or an imminent invasion of Canada don't want it to happen. What I'm saying is a merger of Canada with the United States would be better both for the people of Canada and for the people of the United States. With fewer countries there is less chance of someone starting a war between them. If Canada joins the USA now, then it won't have to worry about someone invading them from the USA in the future, they can go about their lives without having to worry about having to fight and die for their country!
I don't know what future presidents the United States will have, and I can't guarantee that there won't be a war between two countries in the future. Canada and the United States are much alike, they have a language in common and a similar culture, they would make an easy fit together instead of the National stubbornness and the people who might want you to die for your country sometime in the future so they can realize their military ambitions. Wars are messy things, if you want to build a bigger country its best to do it voluntarily with the assent of the pieces you wish to put together!

Really though, whether Canadians like it or not, like Europeans they need to realise their post cold war geopolitical holiday is over. The combination of great power competition and climate change has thrown Canada into the centre of the big game. Canada's ability to define, assert and defend its interest in the arctic is by far and away the most consequential for life, livelihoods of Canadians and the future of Canada.

The Alaska lower panhandle has already taken away half of British Columbia's Pacific Coastline, and look how far up Maine reaches. It is very near to the Saint-Lawrence River. But of course the USA always wants more and more.
Actually the First State is Israel, then there are the 50 current USA States. If this ever happens, Canada would become State #52, LOL.

You mean 51st to 60-something state. It is best to assume each province would be a separate state. Ontario would be the 5th most populous state. It is questionable if Quebec will join. The big question is about how to treat the Territories.
No intelligent Republican would promote a political union because if Canada were to join, US politics would shift dramatically towards the Democrats.
Ironically, the US has been defending its border more strictly since 2001. Casual strolls between countries that were common before 2001 are no longer allowed. Most Canadians would prefer the border to be symbolic like Europe's Schengen borders. Tariff threats are driving the two countries apart more.
The US needs to figure out what it wants first.

A single market with Schengen like symbolic border is the most practical solution. The two countries will have to align their VISA policies and potentially have border security personals staffed in each other's country. (The Canadian land border security will help to staff to the US/Mexico border and America's northern land border security will help to reinforce Canadian airports and seaports) Real IDs will have to be implemented to prevent temporary residents/refugees of each country from illegally settling and working in the other country. It will be the same kind of ID cards issued in Europe, required for signing work contracts and travelling internationally within the bloc.

Innuit living the way they always have. Hilarious. If you dig back in the history to the 1940`s and 50`s you will find that the Innuit were forcibly resettled from their historical habitats into the settlements that are currently in the Arctic. You will also find that the Innuit really don`t hunt the whales any longer and when they do, it is not out of need but ceremony. Yes the people still go out on the land to hunt Cariboo or onto the ice to hunt seals, but that is about the extent of their traditional hunting practices. Travel over the ice and snow today is by Ski doo or quads, not dog sleighs. =I am speaking from experience as I have been to several places in the Canadian arctic and lived with the people. Between the NWT and Nunavut, the population is about 86,000 people with over 20, 000 living in Yellowknife alone, which is not in the high Arctic above the Arctic circle. The next most populous center is Iqaluit with a population of 7500. The rest of the people live in remote, scattered communities across the territories. The population density is 0.056 person per square mile. So as you can see, remote, desolate, and largely uninhabited.

There is an American Arctic, too, because of the U.S. State of Alaska, some of the Arctic waters are internal American waters too. The combined assets of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard plus the Royal Canadian Navy and the Canadian Coast Guard will be equal to the task of interdicting Russian and Chinese interlopers through internal Canadian and internal U.S waters. Canada and the United States have always worked together and that is not going to change, even if the rest of the world believes that a political rift exists between Canada and the United States. It’s more like a ‘marital spat’-and the two nations will become reconciled, as they always do. Canada has made a significant error in not keeping up defense spending-now it is going to have to scramble to catch up.

I’m a born and raised 4th generation Canadian. But let’s make it happen. We’ve gone backwards over the last 10 years with Trudeau. We have real leadership south of the border now. Canada has the resources and geography to make it a superpower but it needs the capital to invest in it to make it happen. That won’t happen with a liberal govt since they scare capital away with radical policies and high taxation. Imagine lesser taxes and more opportunity in basically every way imaginable.

**"How could Canada, a vast and sovereign nation with 10 provinces and 3 territories, ever become the 51st state of America? Canada is the second-largest country in the world, after Russia, and prides itself on its independence. Canadians are not Americans; they share their own unique identity and culture. While Canada and the United States may work closely on matters like free trade - often involving Mexico through agreements such as the USMCA - this cooperation is based on mutual benefit, not subordination.
Canada is a proud and independent nation. If the United States were to impose tariffs or restrict trade with Canada, the country would explore alternatives. It could diversify its trade relations with other nations, including China if necessary, ensuring its economic resilience.
The idea of Canada ever becoming the 51st state of America is not only unrealistic but entirely unacceptable. Canada’s sovereignty is integral to its national pride, and such a scenario will never happen - not now, and not ever."**

    • @heniman2687
      @heniman2687 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

@joegutshall4321 It's important not to confuse the size of a country's population with its status as a sovereign nation. Canada, despite having a smaller population than some countries, is still much larger in size than many European nations combined. The idea of Canada being "for sale" is both absurd and disrespectful to its sovereignty. Instead of suggesting unrealistic proposals, such as annexing Canada, it would be far more constructive to focus on strengthening trade agreements that include both Canada and Mexico.
When discussing such topics, it's also worth considering the challenges at the U.S.-Mexico border, where issues like illegal immigration and gang activities persist. If solutions are needed for immigration reform and security, attention should be directed at improving relations and policies with Mexico, rather than proposing ideas that undermine the independence of neighboring nations. Such suggestions only distract from real opportunities to foster cooperation and address pressing issues effectively.

As a Canadian, Canada will be never be the 51st state. No matter what Trump thinks or wants. Canada can put tariffs of their own on products to the US. Canada could cut off oil, lumber, power water, uranium, car parts, pot ash, even can cut off access to the Alaskan highway. Now if Trump thinks that he can use military force towards Canada, this would be a fatal mistake. The rest of NATO , would be at Canada aide, plus other countries. I bet that, even China would aide Canada. NATO also would be at Greenlands side , if Trump tries to take it by force. Trump reminds of Germany , in 1939.

Canada wouldn't stand a chance against a full out US military invasion. NATO coming to help? UK and France maybe, but I doubt the rest of NATO would come to Canada's aid other than small token gestures. Have you seen how pitiful Germany's aid to Ukraine has been?
China is a dark horse. On the one hand, they don't want to see the US get more powerful. On the other hand, they don't want to risk retaliation by the US (above the trade tariffs they've already suffered from). It can go either way.

A large percentage of the American People remember how the Canadian Ambassador to Iran saved the lives of scores of American diplomats, during the Iran revolution, by hiding them in the Canadian Embassy and, when it was somewhat safer, gave our people counterfeited Canadian Passports and literally smuggled them out of Iran at the risk of their own lives, and the lives of their Canadian families living in Iran, at the time. We have fought many, many wars together and there are no better friends and allies than the people of the U.S. and Canada. Leave it to the politicians, most likely the democrats, to try and drive a wedge between us, however, given our close history, the people will gather to combine our respective attributes and we will eventually join in a blessing that will be good for both our peoples.
