    You're right about the coyotes jumping the string/dodging the arrow. They are so dang fast. Most people will never hit the coyote that is actually watching you draw and fire- they are gone. I've had several shots that were that way and only clipped one on the butt as it turned. The ones I've hit weren't aware of me and had their attention elsewhere. But, IMO, any deer hunt turns into a coyote hunt the instant I get a chance to try- bow or gun.

    Teaching the “v” gets 10x more deer wounded than it kills . It may be a good kill only when deer is in right position. There is so much going on with changing range , angle, deer alertness, huner ability , mental calmness ( most are not)…… so much can go wrong. Always look / wait for broadside to slight quartering away and aim spot just behind shoulder in the crease . More room for you to miss a few inches any way . I’ve seen many videos of people that were never taught the right way to hunt .

    I just got the same Scott release (Pursuit) and I am liking it a lot.. My first few shots though.... Oh boy. I went in and turned the bow down a turn and a half on each limb and then started in close and eased back to 20. WAY more consistent for me than the trigger.. And I did have to move the peep a bit and it actually added a 1/2" to my draw. Now just time to practice, practice and repeat.

    I shoot both thumb and hinge... if you get a trufire synapse and a trufire dear you have the best combination they fit in the hand exactly the same... I usually practice with the sear and when I am hunting I shoot the synapse the same way... shooting a hinge really improves your form, if you switch to the thumb just do the same movement as you do with the hinge... you will see your groups tighten up in no time...

    Howdy, well I'm shooting the steelhead 100s and when I got my first pack I sacrificed one and glued the blades shut and shot it that way. Flew great and hit with my field points. So I remember thinking that the rubber bands that came with them didn't feel like they were super tight when I would play around with the Steelheads but I just thought that's how they were suppose to be. So I decided I was gonna order another pack. so I went outside and figured it wouldn't hurt to shoot another one into my target this time with the rubber band on, sense I was gonna order another pack later in the evening. Well I'm really glad I did, bcs I shot and at the last second my arrow veered of to the left about 6 inches. I shot another time and the same thing happened. So the rubber band had broken after the second shot so I got another one that came with this pack of broad heads and the same thing happened. So I didn't know what was going on but I did remember how those rubber bands didn't feel as tight as I would think they should. so I pulled out a rubber band that came with the old school steelhead 125s I had ordered off eBay a few months ago and put it on the 100s and it was a lot tighter and I shot and it flew and hit perfect. I shot a few more times and it flew perfect. Then I put on a spitfire and it flew perfect. So my only guess is that it had to be that the rubber bands wore out or just got old over time and the blades we're opening . These were the silver Steelheads with the black rubber bands and I got an unopened pack off eBay but they would have to be a few years old bcs they stopped making steelhead a few years ago. The Steelhead 125s I have are probably 15 years old and those rubber bands didn't seem to stretch or anything so idk but I think I'm done with the whole rubber band thing and am just gonna go with spitfires. I just wasn't sure if It was a good idea shooting a 1-1/2 broadhead when only pulling 60 lbs. I have a 29 inch draw. But I comment alot and just wanted to sure that experience with the steelhead rubber bands and wanted to get your opinion on if u think that the blades we're coming open and that's what was causing the issue?

    • @averagejackarchery
      @averagejackarchery  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      100% a rubber band issue. Getting. Fresh set of them from like your local dentist/orthodontist is actually the best bet. Strongest set they've got and you're in business.

    How does the hinge compare to a silverback in regards to how it shoots? I’ve been loving it since I got it the safety was a big reason I don’t want to punch myself.

    • @averagejackarchery
      @averagejackarchery  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Silverback by Carter is a true back tension release and I have never cared for those. Much rather prefer a hinge or even a thumb over the true tension style.

    • @BNGNSTY
      @BNGNSTY 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you’re used to a silverback, you’ll be used to putting pressure on the thumb and index side of your hand to hold the safety down. That’s technically what keeps a hinge from going off.

  • @fjosephstockbridge5592
    @fjosephstockbridge5592 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you explain why when I shoot my hinge uphill, the hinge seems to be slow to fire and I have to pull stronger to get the hinge to rotate and fire

    • @averagejackarchery
      @averagejackarchery  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can try! I would think of three things off the top of my head:
      1. Draw length is a little long. Won't show up on level ground but rather when you shoot uphill or down and you're overextending uphill especially.
      2. The weight of the bow is no longer straight down but now backwards and straight down. Makes the "push pull" idea a little more difficult to execute. It will end up being more "push" into the bow itself. Otherwise the weight of the bow will keep coming back into the swing of the release and not allowing a good rotational fire.

    • @averagejackarchery
      @averagejackarchery  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The way I execute a hinge doesn't lean towards the way I like to execute a hunting release. With my index I like more of a hair trigger to just add pressure. With my hinge since I'm relatively cold in its setting it requires a fair amount of rotation and that's just not something I personally want to monkey with in the woods.
