At 1:38 I stated that this panel has a resolution of 2560x1440, when in fact it has a resolution of 3440x1440 due to it being an ultrawide, 34-inch panel. Apologies for the misinformation.
THATs a price I would pay. Otherwise, this monitor is just another AW3423DW at around the same price =\ Im waiting til Oleds come down to $450-500 mark.
Thank you for such a nice review! By the way, which one do you prefer more: this Evnia or the Philips Evnia 34M2C8600? I love the fact that the newer model is a bit brighter and seems better pre-calibrated than the 8600. However, it has slightly worse Ambiglow and lacks a Type-C port. Is the Ambiglow delay the same, or is it a bit faster on the 6500? Do you think it’s worth paying an extra £90 to get the 8600, or is the 6500 still a good choice?
6500 for sure. Ambiglow sucks either way because it's not bright enough in my opinion, and a USB Type C input is only going to be if you want to plug a laptop into it like a Macbook, which I don't need. I'd rather save the cash.
@artisliva the 8600 is absolutely the better monitor on paper, but the actual panel is the same. You're paying for the extra features such as that usb-c. Get whatever you see the best deal on.
@@lyndonbrooker TBH, it's automatically worse because it has locked RGB adjustment and if you happen to get one that's not perfectly calibrated, you're basically screwed. One of the reviewers had one that leant slightly towards red. You can adjust that on the 6500. That feature alone trumps every advantage of the 8600 IMO.
After 6 years with my Alienware 34" 21:9 with 3440x1440p i switched to Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo with 57" 32:9 ratio and 7680x2160p. There is no going back from now on. Dont regret this decision! Everything is sharp how it should be. Yes i need to upgrade my Gpu... Cpu, Mainboard, Ram, Psu for gaming. For productivity i dont have to change anything, since i work moustly with Tradingview in my freetime.
Why is no one mentioning that this monitor doesn't have true native 10-bit color but uses 8-bit + FRC instead? According to the official website: The max resolution is 8-bit with a 4:4:4 ratio. 10-bit color depth can only be achieved at 144 Hz with WQHD resolution via DisplayPort, or at 60 Hz with WQHD resolution via HDMI. This is important information for anyone expecting true 10-bit performance!
It's contrast ratio is only 13540:1?? I thought OLED had 'infinite' contrast, or like 1,000,000:1+ contrast ratio? In fact Phillips lists this on their website as having 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio.
Smashed my AOC 32" monitor today - sad times. This monitor on sale for £499 + £25 Amazon gift card = excuse to move to OLED. Silver linings, and all that...
How do you like it? Is it acceptable to work off of? I'm thinking about ordering one, but I will be using it to primarily work from home 40 hours a week and will be doing some gaming on it on the side. But if the text fringing is bad then IDK about it. Would love to know what you think of it.
@@JerryLives47 I wasn't planning on using it for work at all, but until I move house, I don't have much choice. Spent all day in a data-heavy Excel doc and can't say as I noticed anything. Not ideal though on an OLED - would rather save it for more dynamic content.
Is the same as AOC, probably the same panel. I use a Dell 32" panel, and what i do not like about this 34" panels is the way above and below of the screen seems to squeezed for my like.
480Hz is ridiculous and completely unnecessary, anything above 240Hz is way overkill. And also, there are quite a few UW OLED monitors that are 240Hz . You don't need anything more than that.
I have a 38 ultrawide, amazing for gaming. I ended up with a 32 4k qd-oled. Mainly because most game do not support ultrawide aspect, at least the games I play, and I got tired of having to mode and change game files to hope that it works. I still have the monitor and will eventually use it again.
Black levels were great. But the max brightness I felt was lacking to make the HDR look truly effective. Apologies if this doesn't fall in line with your sentiments.
It's the same panel as pretty much every other OLED 3440x1440 from the last two years; the G8, the DWF etc. it performs identically to those panels that are both considered excellent HDR displays by every reputable source out there. HUB and Rtings spring to mind. HDR is as much about contrast as peak brightness. With true black, 400 nits is plenty for a great HDR experience. Nevermind that the panel can do 1000 nits peak in a 2% window. Just seems a bit of a review based on the spec, rather than your actual experience with it. @@TechNuovo
Oh okay. I will take a look at their stuff. I apologise that my opinion of the HDR content I tried differed from theirs. Unless HDR can blow me away? Then sure. But thank you for checking out the review, and thank you for taking the time to comment :)
@@TechNuovo not asking for an apology. You don't need to provide one. just odd you say something that doesn't correlate with other reviews. And in fact diverges from it quite dramatically in terms of how this panel (admittedly in other displays) as reviewed. All good though. Your experience is your experience. But if you say it's the best display you've ever had on the table, it leads me to question what better HDR displays you've seen? Or if you're just not a HDR guy.
Maybe I'm not a HDR guy :D . No idea really, have just never been super blown away with HDR on PC monitors. Size maybe? Best display I've seen myself? Sure, for the spec to cost. And the nice inky blacks and sharp colours while gaming and the feeling I got running through the sewer level in Black Ops 6 for the first time on it was breathtaking. Maybe I need to look are more films and series in HDR rather than gaming. Gaming HDR I could take or leave. To me it doesn't make a huge difference to in some cases justify a hike in price. I've never gamed in HDR so far and don't feel I'm missing out. But hey, I've got the AOC AG346UCD sitting behind me. Maybe not as premium as the Philips but still an OLED panel. I'll make sure I give HDR a proper chance before I create my content.
175Hz imo is perfectly fine for single player story-driven games and some casual multiplayer. KVM switch isn't needed imo. HDMI 2.0 fine. Why would it need 2.1? No USB -C sure I'll give you that for some added connectivity. HDR is meh on most monitors due to the lack of max brightness. Over-enthusiastic I suppose because of the phenomenal price tag for what you're actually getting. But each to their own. Cheers for checking out the content.

Black bars on an OLED aren’t distracting though. the screens not lit in those areas
It's not but is kinda is if you're in a light room. Turn the lights off and it's fine because as you said it's incredibly dark on the sides.
