Installing New LED Headlights Bulbs in a 2019 Toyota Highlander

I love this truck. It's just an all around nice truck. The only 2 things missing are driver side memory seating because my wife and I move the seat and mirrors. The second thing missing is a heated steering wheel. It actually has a button that heats the lower wind shield which is nice, but anyways...
The fog lights from the factory are LED but the factory head lights are just regular head lights. So I went onto Amazon and purchased new LED replacement bulbs.
This is how I changed out my OEM head lights for aftermarket LED ones.

That cap was your dust cover for the internals of the light.

As discussed, the gray cap should be just a dust cap. The bulb itself has its own seal that should keep everything out. As you showed with the high beams, there is no housing or cap. What will happen in the future remains to be seen, but I'd expect it should be fine without the dust cap. Let's not forget how many of these there are out on the road that already have been in accidents, and chances are the body shop never installed the dust caps. So we'll see going forward, but I think it should be just fine for some time to come.

In case you're interested, they do sell either rubber dust caps that can fit on instead, or you might find an extended cap to allow them to fit. Most people swear that the LED bulbs won't be affected, but if the fan is exhausting the hot air into the cap and it has nowhere to go, the life of the LED bulb, I think, will be affected. Cheaper to replace those than the headlight lens assemblies, yes, but it seems there's good and bad sides either way.

@@jaykay18 Probably just high end accessories not needed. O yeah definitely if that type of vehicle got into a minor front end those would never be replaced. People including myself don't even know they existed.

@@dniehaushladilo Google.com. Lets you find _anything._ No, seriously, you kind of do have to look for yourself, there are different styles and manufacturers of it, so you need to pick not only what they say will fit, but what you think will work.

On the passenger side you can move the windshield washer tube by depressing the two small tabs that hold it to the painted metal and pushing the tube aside. The cap is a dust cap. That whole headlight housing , lowbeam projector, including the high beam reflector and the LED daytime running light strip is one unit. If you don’t use the cap I guess some dust could enter the inside of the housing but I’m not sure what that might do. Everything is loosened counter clockwise, the bulbs and the dust cap. The dust cap is very tightly sealed so turning it about a half an inch to remove it is still difficult as the rubber gasket on the cap keeps it pretty tight. Just loosen the cap and pry it off. The location of the hole that the lowbeam turns into is off to one side of the dust cap hole making the fam on almost all LEDs contact the rim of that hole and or making it impossible to put the dust cap on properly. The fog lights are another horror show as where the bulb sits in the fog light housing, you must remove the wiring harness from the bulb in order to twis5 the bulb a 1/2 inch counte4 clockwise to remove it.Then to reinstall the bulb you won’t get the bulb into the mounting hole if the wiring harness is attached because there are two small hard plastic tabs that prevent the bulb from turning because they hit the wiring harness and you can’t turn the bulb.
