      Glad it was helpful! That is one of my emphasies, to get angles that show what is happening as best as possible. Sometimes I don't have time time for it, but other times it is a fun challenge.

    Thanks for the detailed video. Now I am off to replace a blown fog light . (I got mine last year and I’m still learning the DIYs) I don’t have to ask my dad now😌 #independentdaughter

      That’s greet. Go for it. Not much you could do to damage anything in the first place, so worst case you will just need a second hand at some point. Have fun!

    Very good video. I knew about the panels you removed because I was adjusting the screw on the passenger side low beam and dropped the screwdriver. Guess where it landed. I’ve been looking around for a kit of push pins so that info is good as well. Thanks

    I’m headed out now in 20 degrees weather to do my fog lights, hopefully it goes well. I replaced the H11 and high beams with LED Headlight Experts and what a pain in the butt. I can’t get the protectors back on the low beams the new LED are much bigger and have the kit attached. They also pulsate which is an issue, the company state’s warranty, yet it’s like pulling teeth.
    I purchased the extra clip pack as well. Now to figure out the side socket.

    • @DansWay
      @DansWay  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Let me clarify, are you saying you used a brand called ‘Headlight Experts’ for the low and high beams? I used Auxito and was mostly able to install the covers. They still bulge out a bit.

    On the 2017-2019 Highlander for sure, I’m not sure about other years, the fog bulb can’t be removed with the wire connector still plugged into the bulb. That’s because as your video shows, there is a “ plastic tab “ that prevents you from turning the bulb out or in with the wire still connected. I was struggling to get my old one out for over 20 minutes and finally went back into the house and TH-camd another video. I think the guy is called “ Track Palmer “ and he mentioned the “ fabs “ that prevent “ the bulb turning . Went back out to my 2017 and it took 10 seconds to get the first bulb out.

      Come to think of it that Track Palmer guy has a 2016 Highlander so I guess it’s the same on the 2014-2016 as well.

    @0:50 those are not COB.
    COB (chip on board) is a very large footprint of the led chips.
    Those are CSP led chips. Very tiny and thin and match the size of the halogen coil filament.
    And CSP are more reliable than COB.
    COB is design for interior use. It’s design for use of space. Never ever on headlights.

    First off, awesome video man. Attempted to change my passenger fog light but was unsuccessful.
    Took off the fender liner, the connection but couldn’t take the light bulb itself out. I tried doing exactly how you did it and it wouldn’t budge at all. Any advice would be appreciated

    • @DansWay
      @DansWay  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you got the connector off the bulbs, then I would try pushing in and rotating it counter-clockwise 1/8th turn. That should be what it takes to get it off. Perhaps try the other side and see if it is easier and teaches you something that will help get this one off.

    • @DansWay
      @DansWay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there. I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you asking if there is enough area behind to get to the bulb? or are you asking something else?

    • @PeHtr
      @PeHtr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi , No my question is. If you need some kind of xtra wire when changing normal to LED, because the LED get hotter and more charge , you would burn the wire, After a while

    • @DansWay
      @DansWay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, ok I understand. These LEDs do get warm, but honestly they do not get as hot as the original bulbs. They have the heatsink to spread out the heat. The wire and connector don't get burned at all.

    • @BS-ic2hb
      @BS-ic2hb 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PeHtr LED's will have a lower amperage draw to the comparable halogen it replaces. The factory bulb is probably a 35w consumption which would be .29 amps and a 5 watt LED will be .041 amps.
      Extra wire is not needed, and a LED will burn cooler than the halogen. Do not use LED in areas where you need heat to melt snow/ice off your lens cover.

    GOOD VIDEO DAN… but YOU did NOT even MENTION the BULB NUMBER, such as H-11 or 9005.
    PERHAPS NEXT TIME YOU SHOULD and I RECOMMEND USING DIELECTRIC GREASE for ANY ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS to HELP RESIST AGAINST ANY CORROSION, especially with WATER SPRAY from DRIVING!!!

      LOL! Try doing some research and read: FMVSS108
      There is currently no provision within these regulations to legally replace halogen headlamp bulbs with retrofit LED bulb replacements. As a result, retrofit LED bulbs may not be used in headlights on public roads in the United States.
