I was lucky enough to be upgraded once from business to first on A380 Qatar from DOH to BKK. Of course the whole experience was mindblowing, but one thing I remember is that I didn't find the seat comfortable enough to sleep. When flat there was a weird bulge in the lower back... not that I wanted to sleep anyway. of course I stayed awake to enjoy as much food and champagne as possible 😂

What you ‘will’ see is traffic and lots of it haha, depending how long you are here, I would recommend a tour of Intramuros old city and history. If time permits a full day to visit Tagaytay and views of the Taal Lake / Volcano. Visit a Mall especially on a Sunday to take in the Mall Culture and the sheer size of them. Mall of Asia, Festival Super Mall, or Mega Mall. Food wise, unfortunately the best brunch at Sofitel has now closed down. Blackbird Restaurant in what was the old Manila Airport control tower, now the centre of the CBD is a great meal and experience. Raging Bull Steak house one of my favourites in the Shangri-La hotel in BGC also a good option. The Peak at the top of the Hyatt also a good experience especially at sunset. Enjoy.

I’m getting annoyed with Qatar Airways. I fly from Doha to LHR every 6 weeks in business and have accrued 200,000 avois and a platinum status - but they will not allow me to upgrade to 1st class on the A380. They tell me it’s a ‘restricted’ flight and no upgrades are possible from business to first class- but you can upgrade from economy to 1st 🤔 please make it make sense. As for best 1st class, I guess I’ll never know on QR but for now, Emirates gets my vote comfortably

I so love the A380 Kym. Did you not take your son to the First Class lounge? As a Oneworld Emerald you're entitled to use the First Class with a guest.
@KymIllman Surprised by this as it is against Oneworld policy but QF gets away with not allowing Oneworld Saphires in their Business Lounges. Coupled with Qatar's decision to slowly scrap First Class you have to wonder why they built such a wonderful First Class Lounge.

Except there are no Q Suites on the A380. With Qatar you need to look at what aircraft and configuration they are using because there are many that don't have them.

I am always blown away by the lounge at airports in the Gulf states. They make the best airport lounges in the US look like amateur hour.

Except there are no Q Suites on the A380. With Qatar you need to look at what aircraft and configuration they are using because there are many that don't have them.
No Q Suite guarantee. Chance of getting Qatar’ed is always there.
