I remember when my uncle had an arowana and he had a huge tank for it. It was so fascinating to look at. My uncle used to have two but the stronger, bigger arowana killed it’s own brother. My uncle had that fish for about three months or so, and it was healthy and big. My auntie who was living in the same house as my uncle heard a loud thumping noise, like there was something bumping onto the floor rapidly one night. She went to check it out and saw the arowana dead. It had stopped moving. It has jumped out of its tank even though the roof of it was open a slight bit, and that thing was about 5-6 centimetres thick.
Probably the tank doesnt fit for him, when fish jump out of the tank, there is 2 reason for it The tank size too small or the fish has too much excited for they water, they think they live on they natural environment and wanted to explore it out of the glass

Asian Arowana is different South American Arowana. You also showed an Australian Arowana. Your research is insufficient that's why the presentation is also inaccurate.
They're not that expensive for an albino white one, it only costs around 150-300 bucks. The prices go up for a red arowana (up to 70K) or a golden arowana (up to 300K). But they're extremely hard to take care of, you usually need a very big fish tank for just one arowana, their body is usually long so a big fish tank is needed for them to swim freely. Sometimes, they can get really aggressive also and they tend to jump off the water surface.
I don’t think you know who Emily Voigt is. She spent years with some of the top ichthyologists in the world in pursuit of this fish. She didn’t mistake the price.

The Asian Arowana is not endangered nor is the law banning its sale and distribution in the United States appropriate. This fish is legal to own and bred at ornamental fish farms in just about every country, including Canada with the exception of the United States still considering them endangered. A law that hasn’t been updated or reviewed since the late 80s. Thanks PETA. With almost every fish being bought and sold, bred at farms specifically in business for the pet trade, their is no impact on this fishes habitat or its wild numbers. In fact, 100% of hobbyists that buy these fish, prefer the more desirable colored ones mentioned in this video. With most wild Asian Arowana being dull or generic in color. Nobody wastes their time taking them from the wild. In that case, they might as well buy either a Silver or Jardini Arowana. Both extremely beautiful fish that look almost identical to the Asian Arowana as far as body shape. The fact that this fish is illegal in the United States and people have gone to jail for distributing them is just plain stupid when you can simply cross the border into neighboring Canada and get your hands on just about any variety of Arowana you can afford. It makes the US laws look silly. Just my two cents. By the way, I hate when non hobbyists make videos about aquarium fish or the hobby in general. These videos make me cringe. The lack of factual information and exploited common knowledge is hilarious.
PETA Is not the organization that lists an animal as endangered. PETA is a joke. That is IUCN's job. Then there's CITES which is a convention between governments to regulate wildlife trade to protect wild populations. These organizations were formed to protect flora and fauna worldwide. These orgs are run by scientists (experts in flora and fauna) ~ the real experts. The Asian Arowana listed as ENDANGERED under the IUCN Red List. It is also listed in CITES apppendix I which makes it illegal to catch asian aros in the wild and use them for trade, but farm raised individuals are listed under CITES II which makes them ok to trade albeit proper permits are needed for breeding and selling, also depends on each country's laws. Asian Arowana IUCN Red List status: www.iucnredlist.org/species/20034/9137739 / CITES listing: www.cites.org/eng/gallery/species/fish/golden_arowana.html
Asian Arowana are 100%, absolutely illegal in the US. They are on the list of endangered/at threat species. Other types of arowana are not though and can commonly be purchased through normal means.

i remember arowana fishes becoming super popular in the early 2000s, and a classmate, their family kept arowanas AND gigantic arapaima. They lost the arapaimas when a typhoon flooded their area, most likely they got washed out from their pond down to the river nearby.
I watched a documentary from Korea or the US (I am not sure), but there were villagers who would work really hard to catch a single Arowana to sell as food. One really big Arowana can bring enough money to feed the family for months because it was a luxury food. However, those Arowanas that they catch were big as a small child and beautiful.
Makes a video about Asian arowana forgets to mention the ones that are cheaper costing a few hundred or less than a hundred because they must all be as much as a car right?
Emily Voigt is a very talented author and I would definitely recommend The Dragon Behind the Glass. It is an amazing book and she did a very job of telling a truly captivating story just about a fish.
There was a fish seller in my city . He was famous and was earning well . He had this fish shown above . He used to believe it used to bring luck for his business . He kept it in his shop but one time they were painting the shop and the tank burst .The fish died and so did the business after that .
Its like a hobby to us keeping an Arowana and watch carefully how its grow on colours. We also have competition and these fish are the pageant🤣 Need more work to get more results. There are peoples tanning them for 4-6 months and give them centipedes.
In the Philippines, the Arowana is lowkey considered a status symbol at least to the people interested in fish keeping. It's considered good luck for both business establishment and wealthy homes.
True story. I worked in a petland discount back when I was a teen and they had a little one on sale for 80 bucks at the time. Someone comes in to pays for it and when I go to get it for them I did not know the fish jump and when I opened up the top of the tank the fish jumped to his death. The poor fish hit the floor and was dead. We actually had to save the body.

It makes the US laws look silly. Just my two cents. By the way, I hate when non hobbyists make videos about aquarium fish or the hobby in general. These videos make me cringe. The lack of factual information and exploited common knowledge is hilarious.
Jacob's Aquarium It's all about having the corect permit.
Other types of arowana are not though and can commonly be purchased through normal means.
i think its because climate or weather that not suitable with Asian Arowana since it live only in Asia. I have one MGBB (Malaysian Golden Blue Base) arowana and its not endangered species if u mentioning about ASIAN AROWANA.
looks like I'm gonna sell my Arowana
btw I only got it for like $4
I live here in the Philippines
Saan pre?
Looks like you'll only be getting $4.50 then 🤣🤣
it will be probably silver arowana its damn cheap
In Asia IT’S DIRT CHEAP I lived near a place with a bunch in a nearby river
thats not arowana, what you have is a tadpole
That arrow Is not albino. It’s leucistic. Check the eyes. Albino-red eyes. Leucistic - black eyes.
"And thts how the bearded dragon started going endangered".
In borneo, before we knew its price, we ate it whenever we found it
The video: this fish is really expensive
My grandpa: HAVE THREE BIG DRAGON FISH.
So that's why they're worth so many bells in Animal Crossing!
"These fish are worth thousands of dollars"
"Theyre illegal to sell in the United States"
"Albino arowanas are especially rare and expensive"
*stares at the dozens of arowana being sold in local specialized fish stores for a lot less that $500 each, along with the actually albino arowanas that have the red/pink eyes that aren't even $700 each* ok
Asian arowana and silver/albino arowana arent the same.
@@Thonycv I've seen arowana with the telltale pink eyes at specialized pet stores (tho in this video, like many have pointed out, uses silver arowana instead of actual albino arowana which is rly funny imo). I assume the ones I've seen just happened to be born there or they're donated for one reason or another, but I've seen a few very clearly albino arowanas being sold on occasion at pet stores
The one in the video is platinum, albino fish have red or pink eyes and the white is a bit yellow or pink
Calling mum on the phone ☎️
me: mum, please cook fish tonite.
Mum: fish? What fish?!
Me: huh?! Any fish mum!
Coming home looking at my cooked dragon fish.
i remember arowana fishes becoming super popular in the early 2000s, and a classmate, their family kept arowanas AND gigantic arapaima. They lost the arapaimas when a typhoon flooded their area, most likely they got washed out from their pond down to the river nearby.
Thats horrible
I watched a documentary from Korea or the US (I am not sure), but there were villagers who would work really hard to catch a single Arowana to sell as food. One really big Arowana can bring enough money to feed the family for months because it was a luxury food. However, those Arowanas that they catch were big as a small child and beautiful.
What are you in for? " i caught the wrong fish"
Tom Nook isn't paying me enough for the ones I catch
Makes a video about Asian arowana forgets to mention the ones that are cheaper costing a few hundred or less than a hundred because they must all be as much as a car right?
me: buys 40000$ fish
my mom: FISH IS ON THE DISH
Emily Voigt is a very talented author and I would definitely recommend The Dragon Behind the Glass. It is an amazing book and she did a very job of telling a truly captivating story just about a fish.
I thought it was very good too.
There was a fish seller in my city . He was famous and was earning well . He had this fish shown above . He used to believe it used to bring luck for his business . He kept it in his shop but one time they were painting the shop and the tank burst .The fish died and so did the business after that .
i believe this....vry relatable to stories i heard in my country Malaysia
I see these fish every time i go to a Wilcon Depot
My cousin had arowana before. Didn't knew it cost thousands of dollar.
Noah Sebastian Only certain species and high quality ones ... you can get a silver arowana for as low as $50 , sometimes even cheaper
@@tanariondancy2892 still worth money
motiwor rahman never said it wasn’t 👌
@@tanariondancy2892 okay..
Its like a hobby to us keeping an Arowana and watch carefully how its grow on colours. We also have competition and these fish are the pageant🤣 Need more work to get more results. There are peoples tanning them for 4-6 months and give them centipedes.
My local pet store has these big aquariums instead of a table.. And they have this fish in it. Never knew that it was this rare..
In the Philippines, the Arowana is lowkey considered a status symbol at least to the people interested in fish keeping. It's considered good luck for both business establishment and wealthy homes.

So exotic carp?
@conan263 What kind of sophistry the fengshui expert say that arwana do but koi can't?
* Exotic CRAP
conan263 it's Arowana. Nobody calls it the dragon fish.
conan263 but I am Asian. Maybe is it because in the US where I live, nobody calls it a dragon fish?
These are not in the same family as carp.
You thinking of Koi?
3:49-I can't stop thinking that it's actually marijuana not awowana that cause people sent to prison
He forgot to mention that only the Silver and Jardini Arowana are allowed in the US.
Was that the only one left?
dragon fish: hey shark yu know my celebrity values price.
shark : f** off I am hungry
Indonesian here
The asian arwana used to be so common we'd usually have them as food, like any other fish.
EDIT: My uncle currently has one as a pet. Its only expensive because people say so.
I think the wild still has plenty of them, just maybe not with those striking colors that would make hunting harder and getting hunt easier
Next video "The leader of arowana" how this guy makes millions smuggling fish from asia to us by plane.

They have a Silver Arrowana at PetSmart for 90$ from Brazil
Silver arowana are very common and are from the Amazon River. They're not danger and out of all the arowana are one of the least beautiful and cheapest going for $20-$50 a baaby.
@Joe Try jardini arowana, they look exactly like the Asian arowana, but it mouth is alittle bit different then the Asian arowana.
@@GottaGoFastr hence the cosmetic surgery market! Lol.
@@souathao55 they go down to 12$ where i live
silver here cost only about $10 baby and super red is $400 and RTG with certificate is $200.

Its a dragon
Don't expect it to be cheap...
Why not
You can get the fish way more cheaper in Malaysia 👌🏻
Yeaaaa
I used to own 2 black arawanas that I bought as juveniles in the mid 90s for $40 a piece and they were legal.
