when he said "this letter comes from your friend paul, john lennon you've made it,you're in the rock and roll hall of fame." i was trying so hard not to cry, i couldnt breathe! John and Paul not only the best composing duo ever, but also the example of true love and friendship... (':
I happened to have been at the Dakota that day and at the exact moment, though I was inside the building. When I left it was exactly at the time the policeman was putting John in the squad car to go to Lenox Hill. I didn't know what had happened until about 30mins later. I cried all day and yes I was one of those crazy Beatles fans singing outside the Dakota all the rest of the week. RIP and thanks for all the love you need because after all, all You Need Is Love!
No one can say that Paul and John had not gotten back together with the hug he just gave Yoko and Sean. That was a great line she had about the Beatles being bigger than.....buddha. I have nothing but respect for the woman John loved so dearly, too bad his other fans, who loved him so much, are so jealous of his love for her. John, George, Paul and Ringo will live as long as their are civilized people in this world.
Damn..I was born in 1994. It blows being in love with a group of 4 guys who were together years before I was around. At least I have their stories and songs
@trytorion "Here we are, all these people here we are assembled to thank you for everything that you mean to all of us..." And then I broke down and cried. Goosebumps, goodness...
Thank you for uploading such a cool piece of music history. Paul's induction of John as a friend was very touching. He basically saw a great person achieve his dream which was to spread love & cherish life. RIP John
2:20 "I remember introducing you to my mate George, who- hey, hey I can't see a thing past this Picture-in-Picture and - hey guys wait MMMMRHGFFFF I can't breathe!" But seriously, bloody great speech. We'd all be lucky to have friends like these guys had. They were in the most hectic band related mania ever, and they were still talking after it.
Lets face it,they were like brothers! Like all brothers they have fights. But that does not mean they didn`t still love each other. Beautiful speech. Thank you for uploading this.
I LOVE THEM SO MUCH! and yes I agree that he at least should've mentioned Cyn and Jules...but Paul is such a loving guy, you can tell that after the speech, he's biting his lips trying to hold back his emotions..that's typical of Paulie but sometimes he just couldn't hold it inside...and he loves John so much...I'm sure more than Yoko did haha ;)
Nobody on earth can ever imagine what these four working class Liverpudlian lads experienced as The Beatles...the most famous people in the 20th Century and beyond!
''John Lennon, you made it. Tonight you're on the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame'' Knowing all the wishes John had for being a rock n' roll singer, all the facts i've read about him when he was young, and that they were all wishing so bad to be famous and recognized, and now listening to those lines said by Paul, is one of the most moving things I've seen in the world of music.
FANTASTIC! Simply put, the music and the emotions changed my life for the better. This was NOT a political speech, so do not over diagonose it. These guys went to edge and drank from the water and came back to tell about it. Brilliant music and the sincere moments of pure love prevailed-Bravo to the greatest of them all. I grew up with them and enjoyed their ride
When I saw Paul smiling in the shadows while Yoko was speaking, I could've sworn I saw his younger self. It was remarkable. Look yourself. It's at around 9:09.
The Liverpool Lads were bigger than "Buddha"! That was funny of Yoko. And it was nice to see her and Paul hug each other. Much respect there. Thanks for sharing this video.
Who would have thought any of those brash, witty, invincible boys would have ever showed any emotion in public like this? Then you get older and you experience death, and suddenly for the first time in your life you start tearing up at sad movies, you choke up at random moments in the day at passing thoughts. Start talking to the one you lost as if he's still there, watching you. That's when you realize sometimes it's okay to cry - as long as you pick yourself up quickly and get on with it.
@emokiller907 John was a tough guy. John had a temper. John was an angry young man. You may hate Yoko, but he loved her. He was lost without her. He called her "Mother." There must have been something very special about her for him to have been so totally devoted. She obviously helped him to be the man everyone loved. She helped him to feel contentment and peace. She was who he needed. If that's good enough for him, it should be good enough for us all.
I had to think about your comment, but you are correct. John answered the question by wanting to be with the woman he loved, so it was very appropriate for Yoko to be there with the band. I always felt the women who belonged to Paul, Richard, and George were followers, where as Yoko was considering herself and equal with her companion.
@1dublj Hi !dublj. In my first Beatle Book they wrote that Paul's reply to "How do you sleep" was the "softer" "Let me roll it ". As I told I love them all. What I mean is that in 70's people thought that Paul was diplomat and selfish while John was a radical who fighted for peace, engaged and so on. I think that after many yeras we found that Paul more than others loved the band and his mates.Cinthya Lennon stated that he was the only one who went to her and Julian after John's left her.
no matter what you say folks .. Paul is a Gentleman ! he did the right and honest thing ...he thanked to his friend John ..... i wonder , how many of you do you still have a true friend ... i have any ... it like the Srgeant Pepper s lonely band ...cheers
I don't know who you are ShermPerm,. but I echo your words and agree wholeheartedly with you concerning the Beatles. I am still awe struck by The Beatles and yes they truly were a gift from God to the whole world. You said it well
very emotional. notice how he, politely, puts yoko in the place she was: after she appeared, everything was gone, in a way. john became unaccesible. but anyway... life´s life. enjoy TODAY.
Good point. I'm sure Paul wouldn't care if I didn't like his eulogy or not. It was, as you said, a complicated relationship. I don't even know how both managed to get along for as long as they did within the context of their insane poplularity. Mick Jagger of the Stones called it the "Golden Cage" where the stress of feeling trapped (sometimes forced) to do what you love to do became overwhelming. How could Paul give tribute in that context and have it come out perfect. He did his best. Peace.
Also, for those who say that Yoko and Linda were golddiggers, they both came from very well off families. Yoko decided to become an artist and her family thought that profession was beneath them. Her first husband was considered well off. I guess somewhere down the line she decided to live for herself instead of what her family expected from her.
i think paul did a good job talking about there relationship beatle memories never get boring and also happy to see the love and respect he and yoko have for eath other that im sure took years remember she was accused of breaking up the greatest band of all time im still awe struck by the fab four what a gift to the world from god
@Zeusdattilo It is true, John did "How Do You Sleep", but it was in response to Paul's "Dear Friend" and other songs that John felt were swipes at him. Dick Cavett asked him about "How Do You Sleep" and John explained at best friends fighting with each other. It is sad that they couldn't have written or recorded together again. Not as the Beatles, that was over, but simply as, along with George and Ringo, two of the most popular artists of all time.
Regardless of all the comments that is made here. Remember one thing..from the beginning to the end of his life...he might not have wrote or sings any of the songs that he gave to the world..if it wasn't the behavior, the choices, and the journey he took in life!..RIP JOHN!!
Did anyone see the movies "Nowhere Boy" or "The Two Of Us" ? If you can find these two movies, watch them....Nowhere Boy is about John's life just before the Beatles and The Two of Us is an imagines meeting between John and Paul, just before John's death. GREAT movies.
Yoko looks very nice with short hair. I actually felt sad watching this knowing that John Lennon was not here to enjoy receiving the award or to see how much he was loved by his fans.
Julian was never close with John, I've heard him say in an interview that he respects Lennon as an artist and a cultural monument but he has no appreciation for him as a father whatsoever so I guess he wouldn't parttake in such events.
@funnyjunkvmkman Yoko played a large part in the break-up of the beatles, though she wasn't solely responsible, it was a combination of that, Paul's new relationship with Linda and the forthcoming battle for management between Paul's father in law lee Eastman, and Alan Klein favored by John. Add to this George and Ringo's resentment and you've got yourself a formula for a Beatles break-up. It is likely that if Yoko hadn't been around they would have lasted a bit longer
Despite their later differances which also involved lawyers. John and Paul had personal ties that went back for years and transcended the problems. Both were two sides of the same coin. Equally adept musically and lyrically they were at their best together. Brilliant apart at times but never consistently as good. What seperates The Beatles from others is that every album is so differant from the previous one until the final presentation bears no resemblance to anything they created before,
when he said "this letter comes from your friend paul, john lennon you've made it,you're in the rock and roll hall of fame." i was trying so hard not to cry, i couldnt breathe! John and Paul not only the best composing duo ever, but also the example of true love and friendship... (':

Paul a class act as always. You can see he really loved John. So sad he was taken away from us by that sick man.
That's a rather mean thing to call Yoko!
There are no words to express how beautiful this is.
They really loved each other, Paul and John. They were
(and always will be) soul - brothers.
I managed my tears until Paul said: John Lennon, you've made it. Tonight, you're in the rock and roll hall of fame.
"John Lennon, you've made it. Tonight you're in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame".
I started bawling my eyes out there.
You can tell this was really hard for Paul, he was always on the verge of tears.
We all have memories...just imagine having those memories to recall.
You can hear the tears in Paul's voice while he was saying these things about John !
Made me cry too, Paul loved John, they all loved each other. Very touching, great to see this.
Paul spoke from his heart...I'd rather hear that than a professionally-edited "speech". What better could we want?
Did anyone else's heart just melt at the ending of the speech?
Paul's speech for John always brings a tear to my eye. :'( it's just so beautiful :') R.I.P John Lennon -3
i think he was remembering his best friend, who he lost and missed. and he probably regretted a lot of the anger and bad feelings. this was heartfelt.
No one else could have given this tribute. The Love between the brothers never died.
The 2 most brillant song writers ever,I believe with my heart and soul we will never see the likes of these guys again...........
"John Lennon, you've made it, now you're in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame."

John forever in my heart. (':
Damn..I was born in 1994. It blows being in love with a group of 4 guys who were together years before I was around. At least I have their stories and songs
Same, but I was born in 2005!😂😍
If you love their music you share your love with us who were there from the beginning.. I'm he, as you are me and we are altogether so said John 🙏❤
beautiful .. i wish john was still with us :/
This brings tears to my eyes i love John and Paul and will love them forever.
I would've been crying up there the whole time...
Love these guys so much :)
@trytorion "Here we are, all these people here we are assembled to thank you for everything that you mean to all of us..." And then I broke down and cried. Goosebumps, goodness...
This is like a tear jerking movie. Paul has a lot of guts.
Thank you for uploading such a cool piece of music history. Paul's induction of John as a friend was very touching. He basically saw a great person achieve his dream which was to spread love & cherish life. RIP John

This must have been hard for Paul, he should have been inducted at the same time. He is everything JOhn was and more.
Politics.
I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!

What a beautiful tribute from Paul.
Nobody on earth can ever imagine what these four working class Liverpudlian lads experienced as The Beatles...the most famous people in the 20th Century and beyond!
Thank you so much for uploading this. The speech was so touching to actually see and hear.
''John Lennon, you made it. Tonight you're on the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame''

Ant it's true! The one after 9:09.
The Liverpool Lads were bigger than "Buddha"! That was funny of Yoko. And it was nice to see her and Paul hug each other. Much respect there. Thanks for sharing this video.
Oh my goodness....you hit the nail square on the head! Bravo!!! If I could give your comment 8 million thumbs-up, I'd do it!
He speech not for us.. but for john..
I loved hearing Paul's memories....never got to see this....thanks for sharing

John was a true Rock n Roller.👏
Stayed true to the end.✨
Beautiful - all you need is love.
Fantastic, never saw this, thanks for the upload. Nice to hear his memories.
9:50 Paul to Yoko: "He's here."
@emokiller907 John was a tough guy. John had a temper. John was an angry young man. You may hate Yoko, but he loved her. He was lost without her. He called her "Mother." Aww :( I'll hug you, Paulie.
playing Mind Games and Imagine in the background especially near the end of this video sheds so many tears.
Imagine than Lennon was still alive, it would be awesome
"After all, the Liverpool band was bigger than... Buddha."
Ynwa
Dude, this is beautiful! I had chills watching this video... so, so beautiful...
This is a fine video of an event that honored an artist.
Very emotional speech.
Wow...you could hear a pin drop...or a tear fall.Love this.
Paul in the beginning: "Thank you, New York"
How ironic if you think about it 🥺
this made me cry
no words; beautiful beautiful beautiful...
You ARE totally right!!! JOHN LENNON is bigger than any hall of fame.
How tough it must be to not have him there.
F'ing wow! I didn't think it was possible for me to love The Boys anymore, but it happened. Love you, John!
I had to think about your comment, but you are correct. John answered the question by wanting to be with the woman he loved, so it was very appropriate for Yoko to be there with the band. I always felt the women who belonged to Paul, Richard, and George were followers, where as Yoko was considering herself and equal with her companion.
This is beautiful! Priceless!
He definitely was, especially at the end of his speech...!
Im 15 and i have been crying since the video started.
This is the night where Yoko gave Paul John's Demo tapes... Real Love and Free as a Bird.
Then and now too. Also grow old with me.
@1dublj Hi !dublj. In my first Beatle Book they wrote that Paul's reply to "How do you sleep" was the "softer" "Let me roll it ". As I told I love them all. @renatomoher do you understand spanish?... im mexican and all i can do is translate it to spanish or fench Does it help?
@CuteMcBeauty and there was one video where paul was listenin to "beautiful boy" and he was crying
I don't know who you are ShermPerm,. but I echo your words and agree wholeheartedly with you concerning the Beatles. I am still awe struck by The Beatles and yes they truly were a gift from God to the whole world. You said it well
Paul really knows how to make great speeches X)
Paul will love John like a brother until his dying breath.
very emotional. notice how he, politely, puts yoko in the place she was: after she appeared, everything was gone, in a way. john became unaccesible. but anyway... life´s life. enjoy TODAY.
Paul gave me goose bumps..... AMAZING

i've never seen this before
Do you have Sean & Lulian inducting elvis??
(BTW "4FabBEATLES" reposted your video!!)
What a great video. Paul looks nervous, and rightfully so, given the gravity of the occasion.
Also, for those who say that Yoko and Linda were golddiggers, they both came from very well off families. Yoko decided to become an artist and her family thought that profession was beneath them. Her first husband was considered well off. I guess somewhere down the line she decided to live for herself instead of what her family expected from her.
I feel a tear in my eyes.
If you didn't shed a tear hearing that, then you're not human.
i think paul did a good job talking about there relationship beatle memories never get boring and also happy to see the love and respect he and yoko have for eath other that im sure took years remember she was accused of breaking up the greatest band of all time im still awe struck by the fab four what a gift to the world from god

What great speech and so well delivered!
I'm sure everyone else is talking about that. There would be no Lennon solo career without the Beatles so, kind of makes sense.
Regardless of all the comments that is made here. Remember one thing..from the beginning to the end of his life...he might not have wrote or sings any of the songs that he gave to the world..if it wasn't the behavior, the choices, and the journey he took in life!..RIP JOHN!!
i am literally in tears

He is crying in the background, or at least trying to hold the tears back, aw Paulie
Is there any longer version of this induction?
Yoko looks very nice with short hair. I actually felt sad watching this knowing that John Lennon was not here to enjoy receiving the award or to see how much he was loved by his fans.
One of the most epic Bromances of all times.
that was a very beautiful speech i wish i was impotant enough to be their so i could of been their for tht beautiful speech
Julian was never close with John, I've heard him say in an interview that he respects Lennon as an artist and a cultural monument but he has no appreciation for him as a father whatsoever so I guess he wouldn't parttake in such events.

this was the year i was born which is super cool
This is so sweet! Brings tears to my eyes to hear Paul speak from the heart as he recalls so many years ago.
Love the hair flips
