Okay everyone, came back from our 10 day Italy trip and filmed a proper packing video showing how I was actually able to do it! Make sure to check your specific airlines carry on and personal item restrictions. Most of the European based airlines, such as Lufthansa, have very small bag allowance sizes. For my trip last summer I had to purchase a new roller carry on as well as a new personal item bag (I chose a small backpack) since everything I had exceeded the size requirements. I had thought I would bring what I took to Paris a couple years before, but they far exceeded Lufthansa’s limits. And Lufthansa is notorious for enforcing their rules. Some may say they didn’t get questioned for having a larger bag, but you can’t be sure that you won’t, which would be a big problem having to deal with at the last minute before boarding. They also weighed my roller carry on when I checked in. Luckily I knew their weight allowances were also very strict, so I weighed it before going to the airport. I could only fill my suitcase 3/4 full because of the low weight allowance. And that was just summer clothes and a pair of sandals. So knowing your airline carriers allowances is key to avoid a big hassle at the airport for oversized and overweight bags.
Yes absolutely good tips!! I typically fly American or Delta so Im always comfortable packing the way I pack because of knowing their allowances. When I had lived in Florence, I flew a lot of Ryan Air and smaller airlines and I remember freaking out that my backpack (Which was like super small) was going to be an issue hahah! But for this trip, I knew we would be fine on Delta and then all of the other traveling took place via trains and myself carrying everything so it all worked out!!
When I was 12 my mom took me to the LV on Bloor Street in Toronto. I had my fake LV from *jklux* on my arm and thought I was cute. The sweet sales ladies let me try on a bag and a pair of heels knowing we were not wealthy and couldn't afford to purchase anything. It as really nice. No one seemed to care I had a fake bag and I felt special. They even gave me a paper shopping bag which I used as a lunch bag for weeks after! :) Who cares if people don't have real ones? I'm 30 now and ironically, although I can afford them I still prefer real people with fake bags than fake people with real bags. Just saying :) (not that everyone who carries a real one is bad or vice versa.) Just means I don't care if people carry fakes.
Exactly! I don't know how all these youtubers are traveling with two huge bags like this when I've also had to downsize my "personal item" with most airlines. They are really cracking down on bag sizes. My partner had to check his carry on Monos luggage because his other item was too big in order to take both items in the cabin. My advice... really research your airlines baggage allowances!!
@@Whatinthehell20 HI! What airlines do you mostly travel? We flew American and Delta. When we board we only have the two items, the personal item up on our shoulders (no purse, nothing in our hands, no snack bags, nothing). Literally never get stopped. We have so many family members and friends that visit every year to us in southern CA, same thing, never get stopped !
@@BrittanyAnnCourtney Hi there! I saw you put makeup in your toiletry bag that was liquid including sunscreen. Was that an issue? I usually put my sunscreen in the 3-1-1 bag since it's a liquid like lotion. I bought a stick recently because I didn't want to have to fit in it the 3-1-1 bag and power foundation instead of liquid. I'm flying American.
I travelled to Italy recently with only a carry on. i needed to have all my liquids in a separate clear bag. Any lip glosses , mascaras or liquid foundations, suncreams etc all had to fit in this bag. So i was limited as to what i could bring. Your personal item bag looked lovely but i would be scared to bring one that size as you could be stopped as it looked over the size alot of aircraft state. Always better to bring the exact size as you know you wont be stopped and you can relax. Also i couldnt help noticing you had no umbrella or raincoat packed? It rained heavly for the first 2 days of our trip so was a must pack item for us.
I just wanted to say thanks for this video. I've watched a few but yours definitely is keeping it real. With all of the clothes, shoes, toiletries, and makeup-----I've seen some where they don't have but a tiny bag of toiletries in the carry on. Just not realistic. So thanks for showing how to get it done! I leave on a cruise next year to Italy, so this is extremely helpful!
Thank you for packing from beginning to end!!!! So helpful, especially how you were able to fit it all in Luggage!!!! Some rolled, some flat..... excellent!!!
Hi, THANK YOU for actually taking the time to pack and repack both your carry on, personal item and toiletries bag as well A lot of Tubers describe what to pack but you actually showed us kudos!
*jklux* I have the Coach tabby 18 and wow that bag didn't transfer a bit of color, I even wore it in the rain with my dark denim jacket, keep in mind it was absolutely pouring and I put it on underneath my jacket Got wet, that was over 8 months ago, it's very sturdy and over a year it's still looking great, also the same light yellow color so you can easily match it with anything, even a jacket, when you wear It really pops when worn with dark clothes.
I have been looking for a dupe for the Dagne Dover bags because they are SO expensive but I love the quality. That Quince bag is nearly identical on the inside - I may give it a try
Brittany, you did very well. I know I want everything at my fingertips whe traveling, but carrying lighter and smarter pays off while on the trip. You gave us some great tips and the demonstration was very helpful. The packing items, shoulder bag and carry-on were good choices. Love the added mysuc to your video Brittany. I'm enjoying your growing channel and looking forward to you next video. Thanks Girl 🤍🙌🏽👌🏽🧳
Hi! Yes! Always worth it to leave extra stuff at home! Needs and wants are entirely different! Thank you for saying that about my channel, that’s very sweet ❤️
Your packing technique is amazing. My husband and I are going to Italy next March and I’m planning to pack only carry on. But my husband said he can’t. I’m hoping you can also show a video of how your husband packed his carry on and personal item. Thank you.
Your husband totally can! He packed similarly to me- rolling items and only packing things he could rewear and style. Wore his heaviest chunkiest sneakers on the plane to travel in and then had one other pair of shoes!
Your personal item bag is huge. On a long haul flight as it is 10 hours to Europe from the west coast would be uncomfortable to have no feet space and space to stretch out your legs. Also your toiletry bag goes over the limit on liquids.
Hi! We flew OC to Charlotte spent a couple of days there for a family thing and then over to Rome! Noted on the liquids, wasn’t an issue didn’t even have to take it out of the bag!
@@BrittanyAnnCourtney looks like you never flown thru Heathrow in London. They give you one small ziplock bag to fit your liquids. They are super strict. You got away with it but doesn’t mean you will forever. Maybe read up on the TSA liquid rules.
I use my personal bag as a foot support! I only put it under the seat for take off and landing. It's comfortable for me to have that extra support 😂 I do it in road trips, planes, everything.
I never have ever done that and I never get stopped! I didn’t even have to take the toiletry bag out of my personal item. The entire personal item tote bag went in a bin as it was, the only thing that came out was the laptop and one camera!
@@BrittanyAnnCourtney that's just unrealistic, especially in most European airports. We have always been told by the agent to get everything out of the bag.
@@Xia-hu Unrealistic? This has just been my experience. In Orange County airport & Atlanta's airport they both had new machinery they systems are able to detect more without it all coming out. I don't make the rules, I just do what I am told so I haven;t had any issues!!
Tsa precheck in US airports don't require taking liquids out but that will never work in the UK airports. They only allow a quart size zip lock and will detect drops of liquid in a makeup tube and pull you out of line. 😢
@@lynniarc once I had my perfume taken out and examined in Paris. It was a regular small bottle of commercial perfume, well within the size limits. They pulled my carry on bag out of the line, took the perfume bottle and put it in an analyzer. I think there was only time ever when an agent signalled I don't have to separate out my liquids. I don't remember which airport it was, but in most airports in Europe you will have to do it. Sometimes when it's very crowded, in peak season, they might be less stringent with rules, but otherwise it's better be safe than sorry. If you don't separate your liquids and they stop your bag and you have to start separating them and redo the whole check over again, you can miss your flight.
Thank you for this. We are getting ready to travel internationally for 11 days and the plan is to take a carry-on and a personal item. It will be a backpack measuring the Delta limits for a personal item. I'm worried about it all fitting as I tend to overpack. I'm going to attempt to do it with those 'collapsible' cubes for luggage. I've seen most people say rolling your clothing is the best way so it was interesting how you did it with rolling and flat. I'm also wondering if I should roll the clothes inside the packing cubes. So much to worry about. LOL One thing you didn't talk about is laundry. Did you plan on doing laundry during your trip? I have a toiletry bag like yours and it is great but I also have our liquids/pastes separate in quart bags. In the past, I have always been stopped to check those.
Hi! Have so much fun on the trip! Everything will work out and you’ll have what you need! I learned forever ago that the marines roll everything to maximize space and that always stuck hahaha! I’ve rolled inside packing cubes too! It’ll all work! Just give yourself more time to pack and be ready! I did not do laundry. I had a shirt that after a couple of wears I didn’t wear again, but mostly everything else was good to go for a couple of wears! I basically wore one outfit a day so morning to night in the same thing!
We went for three weeks. But every place except for one or two had a wash machine available. It was very very hot. We had beach, boat, and city/town places to visit. I didn’t even use everything I brought. I needed to stuff in some physiotherapy items, as well. We each fit all our stuff into a carry on suitcase and a small backpack or bag, with plenty room to spare. Here’s my pack list for summer in Italy (very freakin hot!!): SPORT and PHYSIO: * running/walking shoes (wear on plane, bc airports are brutal and these are your chunkiest shoe item) * quick-dry exercise short * quick-dry exercise shirt * quick-dry exercise bra * bathing suit * goggles and swim cap (I swim in ocean, and like to look for municipal 25M lap pools when I travel :)) * water-proof wearable clear satchel to carry phone, wallet into water with me while I swim in ocean (open water swimmers will know what I’m talking about :)) * strap-on water sandals, aka teva style. Also great for super casual walking. The sand is lava level hot. And many Italian beaches are rocky. * elastic exercise bands for my physio * collapsible foam roller (wish I didn’t need this, but I do. Every day, gotta roll out my muscle fascia :/ ) * sport strap for sunglasses (useful if you’re a runner, boater, hiker, or like to jump in waves w sunnies on) TECH (all worn on plane or in carry on, bc expensive and needed them all) * a US/Europe voltage transformer and adapter extension cord box with multiple plug, usb ports * phone and charging cable * ear pods and charging cable * smartwatch and charging cable * hi capacity external battery charger w multiple usb and usbc ports (Husband and kids packed laptop, I didn’t) TOILETRIES and COSMETICS * starter sunblock. Restock when u get there. * two small retinol, vit c, and moisturizing skin care tubes * a very tiny cosmetics pouch w eyeliner, mascara, tweezers, eyeshadow sticks, one glossy lip balm (no brushes bc I can use fingers to blend, no extra powders or blushes or foundation-Europeans don’t wear much makeup) * razor * antiperspirant * one of the small antiperspirant tubes (eg Lumē, but lots of brands on market now: they really do cut down on sweat-stink in summer, and u don’t need much, a pea size dollop in sweaty skin folds will do ya ;) ) * solid shampoo and conditioner bars (cut in half-they last forever) * brush (No hairdryer. These are almost always in hotels, airbnbs at appropriate voltage, and I usu let hair air dry anyway) * menstrual stuff of your choice * toothbrush and tiny toothpaste * floss * daily wear contacts, plus a few extra * prescription glasses (wear on plane-sleeping on plane dries out your eyes :/ ) MEDS * some folks in my fam take daily Rx meds-I carried weekly pill boxes, hubs carried extra bottles. Split between us just in case one was lost. * melatonin to help sleep * asprin, Advil bc you never know UNDER-CLOTHES: * 7 underwear-they’re small, ok to overpack just in case * 2 bras (wear one on plane. Wash in sink if necessary) * 3 pairs socks (1 worn on plane, 2 in suitcase. Can wash in sink if needed) OTHER SHOES: * one pair “nice” but still comfy shoes, just case we go out. Flats ok. I need something w arch supports. * Fashion sneakers-nicer looking than my actual running shoes. Wore these every day. OUTER CLOTHES: * one pair nice loose, flowy pants, can dress up or down-wear on plane bc it can be ccccold * one long flowy skirt (good for beach, places or worship that require cover up, can dress up or down) * skort. Don’t laugh. These are GREAT travel duds. Good ones don’t look like skorts. You don’t have to worry about flashing anyone, and you can dress them up or down. I need a second pair, I love my skort so much! * wrinkle-free tailored shorts. Look for these in travel clothing retailers. You just look a little more put together, and less like a tourist, in tailored shorts. * linen or cotton blend oversize tailored blouse or button down shirt (for sun protection, can dress up or down for quiet-luxury appeal)-wear on plane. * two or three quick-dry and low-wrinkle tops, go for nicer looking so you can dress up or down, dark colors or patterns to camouflage drips and schmutz. ACCESSORIES: * belt (wear on plane) * high-style, fashion-flexible earrings. Not expensive, bc if you lose one, so sad. Faux diamond, faux pearl, gold plated, small hoops, interesting studs all ok. Buy nice jewelry on your trip as a memento instead of bringing valuables you’d be sad to lose. :) Wear one pair on plane. Bring another if you want. * Small cross-body or over-shoulder bag that you can roll up small. You’ll be carrying your extra battery, wallet, earbuds, phone, wet wipes, and sun block everywhere you go. OTHER: * tide/oxiclean stain remover pen (USED SO OFTEN!!! Gelato and espresso can drip :)) * one very lightweight, travel friendly zip up jacket in case of rain. Wear on plane. * baseball cap or other sun hat. Srsly, the summer sun is strong in Italy. Ok to buy once you arrive in Italy, or on to your carry on. * lightweight pajamas sleep shirt. * simple nail polish. Buy remover once in Italy. * wallet with drivers license (need this if you rent a car!!! A photo won’t do.) * a few individually wrapped cleaning wipes. It’s hot n sticky in Italy in summer. Plenty of restrooms don’t have hand dryers or towels. Italian trains hand them out to passengers, and I hoarded them. * Husband brought Alexa, bc he likes the white noise. * Husband brought fire stick and remote bc he has a set up that allows him to watch certain shows/channels/subscription streaming all over world. BAGS: * Carry on bag. I prefer a backpack style that can be attached to my rolling carry on suitcase handle. * Carry on four-wheel suitcase w expandable option. Four wheels makes rolling the bag SUPER EASY. Expandable gives you the option of buying things on the last leg of your travel, and then checking yr bag back home. * transparent passport, toiletries and accessories pouch(es) so you can see easily what’s in each. The panic of “did I forget me passport?” instantly relieved by a quick glance at your transparent baggy. * nylon baggy for stinky dirty laundry. SUGGEST NOT BRINGING: * jeans. Just too dang hot in summer * anything that traps or shows sweat. Did I mention it’s hotttt? * towel * anything you don’t usually use every day. Eg, If you’re not into wearing makeup, you won’t suddenly transform into a cosmetics scion. * shoes you’ve never worn before: you’ll probably walk a ton, and blisters suck * perfume. Leaking happens and then it’s a disaster. * hair dryer. Go au natural w air drying. * duds that need ironing. You won’t always have one available. TO DO BEFORE U GO: * Get apps, eg TripIt; airplane, train, or bus apps; Airbnb, Booking or other accommodations apps; translation apps you prefer: WhatsApp for communicating-lots of Italian places do not answer email or phone, and prefer WhatsApp communication. * Make sure tap-to-pay app is activated on yr smart phone. I don’t know if Apple Pay works in Europe, I just used my tap-access bank card. Worked great!! * Accept a few Euro coins from your friends-you need them to access some bathrooms * If you’re into body-hair control, get waxed before you go. Bikinis are (very) small, here, no matter your own body size. :) * If you’re into eyebrow cosmetology, just go ahead and dye your eyebrows before you go. One less thing to do in the morning. Plus, srsly, Europeans don’t fuss over this stuff. * Download any books or travel guides to yr phone-ditch the extra weight. * Take photos of your passport and drivers license, insurance cards, etc and upload to a secure place. * I LOVE the Mable’s Labels stickers I use for my kids school supplies. They have my last name and cell # on them. I stick them on anything important: phone, medications, wallet, drivers license, passport pouch. US and Canada country code is +1 and it’s good to add this to your cell number eg +1-555-555-1212. We had a lost cell phone returned to us! BUY THERE: * hand held fan. If you’re a tourist in summer, chances are you’ll need to stand in hot lines or take hot walking tours. Just bring this. And don’t forget those wet wipes. Ooo. * additional sun screen, cosmetics. It’s fun to go into a store to pantomime what you need. European pharmacies and cosmetics stores are quite nice. Some European sunblocks are white out of the bottle, but disappear into skin and feel nice and non-slimy once applied. Some are tinted, bc many Italians (and tourists! :)) have dark completions. Be aware the tinted stuff stains light clothes, and I had a hard time discerning which were tinted and which not. * reusable water bottle. This can be your travel memento. :) * if you’re a beach-goer, I suggest spending $ on the private beach sections that offer umbrellas and towels bc you won’t be traveling with them, and did I mention it’s hot??? Save money in other areas, but for us, this was a worthwhile expense. Price drops if you go after 3 or 4 pm most places.
Omgsh this is an awesome and super detailed yes! Yes it sounds like it was SUPER HOT! My favorite time to visit Italy is May and October- beat the heat but of course it all depends on when you’re going and the activities you plan to do! So helpful! What a wonderful trip and amazing memories for your family!
I am going to Alaska next year and into canada and hawaii 4 weeks. We are going carryon . We often have washingmaschines available so it should be easy
I wish I had known about the Quince bag before I bought my Calpak personal item tote. I should have known better! I bought a Quince 24” roller and ❤️ it. BTW…you didn’t show how you separated out your liquids from your toiletry bag. No way they stayed in your toiletry bag through TSA.
I LOVE the QUINCE bag! Good to know about their roller- I was curious! Yeah so I didn’t have to pull any liquids out, neither did my husband but apparently it’s a whole thing with everyone comments! I guess we got lucky!
It’s impressive how much you were able to fit in that personal item bag. I am baffled as to how you get away with packing your liquids that way, though. I have TSA pre-check, and still have had to remove my liquids bag on a few occasions. Your way would present a nightmare for everyone in line behind you, not to mention the added stress in getting through the already stressful airport security line. I wouldn’t recommend your way at all
Yeah news to me! I have never had any issues, have never been stopped, not even once! And I travel often and used to travel monthly! From everyone’s comments I am aware now that I have been lucky in traveling and that I have not been stopped!
My wife and I both just ordered the Beis carry-on and now im reading that for some international airlines it is too big. Contemplating cancelling order and getting the small carry-on.
How in the heck…wow…amazing! I can’t seem to ever pack in a carry on and personal item…I’m gonna try again for my cruise in Nov…seeing this gives me HOPE that I can do it!
I thought airline rules were 1 qt size bag for All liquids which also includes toothpaste, creams. She has them spread out in all of those compartments which looks like 3-4 qt size bags. Am I missing something?
Not missing anything, I’ve never been stopped, has never been an issue. Someone commented the few airports I have flown through have higher tech but that doesn’t account for the ones I leave when the trip is over so 🤷♀️ not sure!
We’re a family of 5 with a 2yo in diapers so there’s no way we can do just carry-on. When I pack for our vacations, I usually do a carry-on for myself. But the rest of my family’s stuff gets packed into the the biggest suitcase. Then I also have to carry on a larger bag for my personal item for my kids snacks, toys for the flight, diapers, etc. I see all the influencers packing carry-on only. But how do you do this with a family? I feel like one big suitcase and one carry-on is better than 5 small carry-ons to lug around. We also have to take a stroller on trips and sometimes, a car seat. So much stuff with kids. 😅
Believe me, it can be done. I have done that and the only reason is because I don't want to be panicking about losing the luggage (which happens A LOT). The key is, you and your husband has rolling cabin suitcase each, and on top of them, put two bags, one on each. They should be not too bulky, parachute fabric is best, but with strong stitches. So in total now you have 4 bags. Two backpacks for you and husband is also enough. This is how we do it because we have limited budgets for airlines with checked in baggage. But, if you have extra budget and you don't mind paying extra within European countries, then by all means you're good to go with the checked in bags. We also do checked in bags if we only go to one destination. But if it's within European countries, we never check in our bags. Too much money spent for that. For eg, we fly to Lourdes, France and transit in Rome and travel again to Budapest. For less then $100 but if you check your bags, the price would be 3times or more.
Hi! I would imagine your packing situation is quite different than most influencers- if they don't have kids entirely different ball game! I only had to have my things that I needed packed and then the same with my husband for himself! Three kiddos to pack for and have the things they need I am sure you need much more space and an entirely different process to get you to the point to being on the flight! Also I would imagine your children's age goes into the equation of they can pull a small suitcase or if they can wear a backpack! A lot to consider and factor in! So much with kids... but sounds like you're doing the best you can and that's all your kiddos need!! You go Mom! 💗
Hi! Those are super old, similar ones can be found here: amzn.to/4g2ps3g I like these kinds of pouches for jewelry, make up brushes, hair scarves/ties etc so you can easily see!
Great video and thank you for breaking everything down. My question is what curling iron did you use and was it for European outlet or did it have a converter? Also love the gray bag you packed with it.
Do you feel the Beis Carry-on will fit in the overhead on most flights when expanded? I'm afraid to take advantage of the expanding feature. Great video!
Hi, Our Beis were completely expanded on our Delta international flight home- and it was not as big of a plane as we took from the US to Rome (which we flew with it unexpanded at that point). Now if the Venice airport would have had an issue with it expanded, in this case I would have taken the Prada bag, gifting box out and the carry on could have been zipped without expanding it, in that case I would have had to carry the bag loosely. I don't think that would have been an issue either considering it was a hefty price tag I spent there + VAT tax refund (obviously, Italy wants you to spend your money there) just would have been a pain in the butt to carry the bag, just would be afraid on plane and ppl, I wanted it locked inside the carry on. To pack the beis carry on fully expanded and not to be able to pull out one or two items easily incase it was an issue, idk I would be afraid to do that. I would def. measure the beis carry on expanded and check the specific airline you would be flying!
Great video! How much did your suitcase and your personal item tote weigh after you packed them? I noticed your Beis carry-on suitcase weighs 8.36 lbs empty. I'm preparing for my next 5 week trip to the Netherlands and the UK. As a solo female traveler with a 7 lb TravelPro carryon spinner, my goal is to not exceed 20 lbs if at all possible, plus 8 lbs or so with my personal item backpack. The only way to do that is to pack only enough clothes for one week, and do laundry along the way. However that's difficult to do with a short multi-city trip, so I understand why you had to pack so much.
Hi!! Hmm I didn’t weigh any of them since it was a carry on! What saved me was being able to put the personal item onto the beis handle like loop the strap over so I didn’t carry the bag often! Pretty much only when I was going up and down stairs at train stations and etc.
If I pack a hat, I put it in upside down, surround it with folded clothes and then fill the inside of the hat so it does not bend! I have not pa led a hat in this carry on though FYI! For trips I’ll bring a baseball hat from time to time since it’s small! But I know there are a lot of foldable straw like hats now that might be the better option!
Iv got to say ... im planning a trip to Italy and the size of carry on bag allowed is no where near the size youv got packed in this video. If I knew fir certain I would get away with that I mist certainly would not be taking a checked bag. Whats up with all the liquids ... howd you get away with that lol. Your personal item is MASSIVE, I dont know how how you had room for your oegs and feet. You did it, so it must be a legit reality, im in disbelief, honestly.
Hi! How exciting- your trip! It's going to be wonderful! Walking in line to scan the boarding pass and get onto the plane, I simply put my bag on my shoulder- no one batted an eye and that was the case from OC- Charlotte, CLT- Atlanta, ATL to Rome. And then vice versa on the way back. For my feet, I would turn the bag at an angle under the seat in front of me so I could stretch one leg and then switched it when I wanted to stretch the other. This did not bother me in the slightest. Liquids didnt know it was such a thing based off of everyone's comments, I have never ever ever had any issues and I used to fly and travel bimonthly in my early twenties. Never been stopped or questioned and I have asked my friends who fly often if they ever have issues and none of them have. A friend heard about Heathrow aiport being strict but that's it!
@BrittanyAnnCourtney well that's incredibly wonderful that you were able to do it all. Interesting to read that not even your friends have had a problem. I wonder if it's a Canada thing 🤔. I'm Canadian. Iv had to throw out some liquids because the liquids bag was bursting at the seems. No biggie, I expected it, but I was hoping they'd just let it go. Theyve got baggage checkers at every gate. I play by the rules so it's not an issue, but incredibly frustrating to see such large carry inside getting through and they question and threaten to check my carry in and personal bag due to lack of space Cheers to many more happy and easy breezy travels.
Thank you so much for sharing, not a lot of *yutulu* share prices, very informative, my hubby found this video interesting too! beautiful pieces, enjoy!
What about the weight restrictions for carry on. I’m sure you would have gone over in that area. I love how you’ve packed but that wouldn’t be allowed traveling in Australia
Hi! I barely had any liquids- just the four mini travel tsa bottles (shampoo, conditioner, body wash) and then a couple mini teeny tiny dermatologist’s face wash samples! No, I never get stopped and actually I didn’t even have to take anything out of my personal item let alone the toiletry bag! And the sunscreen isn’t liquid since it’s more lotion but everything is under the 3ml anyways! I was good to go! 🙃
@@BrittanyAnnCourtneyI live in Dallas and have never been stopped for having a similar hanging toiletry bag like yours. Mine is smaller though. You can def get away with more than a quart size bag on domestic trips. I heard London is super strict though. Never been to Italy. But sunscreens definitely do count as liquids. So does face wash, moisturizer, foundation, even mascara…but not lip balms.
@@BrittanyAnnCourtney You Have More liquids than that! Mascara is supposed to Be placed in the liquids bag. Foundation & Lip gloss too, if you had it. Not sure about the wipes or toothpaste? Better Look Up the TSA Rules!
@@dawncrossland3028 Hi Dawn, Yeah, seems I must be quite lucky. I have never separated anything nor have I ever been stopped. I fly mostly larger airlines, never have had any issues.
Have to comment that there are so many judgy commenters here. Regarding peoples’ liquids bag, TSA rules are always changing and right now, in the US at least, you don’t have to remove your liquids bag from your carry on or personal item bag.
It has caused quite a commotion lol I never knew so many ppl had opinions on other ppls packing. Obviously I put the video out here but half the time I’m reading and I’m thinking is everyone super anxious and stressed with their packing?! lol I’ve never put so much thought to it!
U said u have the Béis Weekender as well…I’m currently trying to decide between the Beis Weekender Mini - and the Quince Tote. Which one would u recommend now that u have both? We r headed to Italy for two weeks w only a carry-on and personal item each.
@@BrittanyAnnCourtney Thanks!! We are headed back to Italy for 2 weeks. This time using just a carry-on and personal item each. I think I may end up doing the BÉIS Carry on (expandable) and the BÉIS Backpack. Loving the maple color!! 😍
It was never weighed. I didn’t have any issues but if you scroll through the comments, evidently I’m very lucky! I have traveled internationally multiple times like this and have never been stopped or questioned, has never been an issue!
What airline did you take? I have the Beis carry on but debating getting the smaller carry on they just released bc according to my airline the carry on I have will not fit in the overhead bin. Thank you 😊
@@misslizxoxo1990 No worries!! American from OC to CLT, Delta from US to Italy and back!! Our Beis fit in overheard bins both American and Delta and fully expanded on Delta from Italy to US, no issues there!
Oh it was wonderful! Fit on all of the flights, delta and American! I loved this bag bc it’s squish able, based off of what you have it in. I was looking at the beis weekender but was afraid it wouldn’t fit plus it’s more structured so it wouldn’t squish or bend or be more flexible! Love the Quince bag!
@@FrancesErickson Hi! It's just an old make up / toiletry pouch from Target, I just called it my tech bag bc I threw all that kind of stuff in there and then my husband would know where it all was too :-) Similar here: bit.ly/3xlnj0U Though not sure of the size of this bag in comparison to mine, but same brand!
i thought liquids are only allowed up to 1 clear pouch that measures a 1L. and all these carry on managed not to be called out on over baggage...theres a 7kg rule on carry on.
Hi! I did not have to separate my liquids, remove them or anything. In OC and in Charlotte! But apparently it would be an issue elsewhere! A lot of ppl have commented with some tips and tricks since when they travel it’s an issue!
If you read through the comments, many ppl are concerned or have opinions on this! 🙃 I have never been stopped, I have never caused an issue in TSA, apparently from ppls comments I just randomly be lucky to be flying mostly through newer technology security areas! No clue, hasn’t been an issue for me
Carry on bag you had scissors and aerosols thats not been allowed on any flights i have been on long or short halls and i have done alot of flying over the years
@@BrittanyAnnCourtney thank you so much. We’re going on a Western Mediterranean cruise soon and only packing my Beis carryon and mini weekender for our trip. I was getting worried that it wouldn’t fit in the overhead cabin for our Delta flight to Barcelona.
Thank you so much for this video. We just came back from our trip and had no problem with my Beis carry on fitting over head cabin and the mini weekender bag under the seat (Delta Flight).
Great video but not realistic. I wish I could pack like this but it’s not possible. I absolutely love the tote bag but I checked the measurements and it is too big, you can only travel with both if you are flying first class according most airlines. I am from the Netherlands and they are very strict. Also I traveled a lot to Asia, Caribbean, Mexico and Africa and they are very strict. You can say you are lucky but it is not fair to other travelers. For any other passenger please weigh your carry on luggage and personal item and have a liquids bag. It is for your safety and for others, thank you 🙏🏽💖
It's not a requirement to weigh carry on bags, as far as the liquids go, noted from all of the comments. In terms of realistic this is my personal experience, I always travel similarly, to and from Europe, has never been an issue.
Hi there, nice video.Had mine since 2020 and for 3 years I have no issues, still intact and the more Im tempted to sell it because some vlogs say its already outdated, the more Im loving it and enjoying it. Your video made me more amazed and interested with it. Thank you dear *jklux*
I did not have any issues nor have ever been stopped in TSA, but apparently certain airports would not allow this, I suppose I have gene lucky! I’f you read through some of the comments, many ppl have other things to say about the amount of liquids!
@@BrittanyAnnCourtney Gosh over here it’s 7kg limit. No-one wants a 20kg bag falling on you from the overhead locker. There should be a limit for carry-on. I used to work at the airport. You wouldn’t believe what some people tried to pass through as carry-on.
@@tiffanytaylor1735 Sure! Closer to mauve than a baby pink for. sure. I dont really like baby pink "things" lol so I think it's a pretty pink tone for traveling as an adult lol feminine but not like screaming PINK hahhaha
No way could I travel to Europe with a small carry-on. I need a seperate bag just for shopping! I usually go there with 10kg and return with 45kg. Then again I’d never go there for just 10 days…..always at least a month.
Okay everyone, came back from our 10 day Italy trip and filmed a proper packing video showing how I was actually able to do it! I was SHOCKED that I was able to manage to pack down to only a carry on and my personal item! SO PROUD OF MYSELF! WIN!

Wow! Very impressive. I always over pack. In my defense its my workout clothes that makes it hard for me.
We have so many family members and friends that visit every year to us in southern CA, same thing, never get stopped
!
Yeah I did not get stopped! The personal tote can be smushed if needed! Our hotel had umbrellas for us to use in Venice!
You are so welcomed!! Congrats on the trip, this is so exciting!!
Thank you for packing from beginning to end!!!! So helpful, especially how you were able to fit it all in Luggage!!!! Some rolled, some flat..... excellent!!!
Oh! My hope was that this would be helpful :-) You are welcomed!
Hi, THANK YOU for actually taking the time to pack and repack both your carry on, personal item and toiletries bag as well A lot of Tubers describe what to pack but you actually showed us kudos!
Hey Brittany, that’s amazing that you got all of that in a carry on and a personal item. I always struggle with that and I hate to check a bag..
Im literally so proud of myself hahahah! Usually I overpack bc I throw extra things in in the last second!!
Wow! That’s impressive…you packed so much in the carryon. This was so helpful! ❤
Oh! Thank you for saying so! I do hope this was helpful, literally shocked I was able to do it and i have to say, I am quite proud! Hahah
This was helpful. I will be in Rome for a cruise in Oct 2025 and want to do a carry on only but do not want to compromise on looking cute. Thank up !!
This is the most realistic packing video I've seen... Thank you 😊
Wow, thank you! Thank you for taking the time to say that! I had hoped it would be helpful!
I have been looking for a dupe for the Dagne Dover bags because they are SO expensive but I love the quality. That Quince bag is nearly identical on the inside - I may give it a try
psst... I think it's going on sale this weeek :-) Keep checking my link 🙂
@@BrittanyAnnCourtney omg thank you LOL
how did you go through security screening with that hangable tolietry bag? It's hardly TSA approved :)
I put it in a bin and sent it through and they didn’t stop me!
@@BrittanyAnnCourtneythen you were really lucky.
That’s what I was thinking!
I’m flying from the west coast. So 10 hours for me. My hunch is that you took up space in the overhead bin and it wasn’t at your feet.
I use my personal bag as a foot support! I only put it under the seat for take off and landing. It's comfortable for me to have that extra support 😂 I do it in road trips, planes, everything.
Just curious don’t you need to separate your liquids into a single small bag?
Here’s my pack list for summer in Italy (very freakin hot!!):
SPORT and PHYSIO:
* running/walking shoes (wear on plane, bc airports are brutal and these are your chunkiest shoe item)
* quick-dry exercise short
* quick-dry exercise shirt
* quick-dry exercise bra
* bathing suit
* goggles and swim cap (I swim in ocean, and like to look for municipal 25M lap pools when I travel :))
* water-proof wearable clear satchel to carry phone, wallet into water with me while I swim in ocean (open water swimmers will know what I’m talking about :))
* strap-on water sandals, aka teva style. Also great for super casual walking. The sand is lava level hot. And many Italian beaches are rocky.
* elastic exercise bands for my physio
* collapsible foam roller (wish I didn’t need this, but I do. Every day, gotta roll out my muscle fascia :/ )
* sport strap for sunglasses (useful if you’re a runner, boater, hiker, or like to jump in waves w sunnies on)
TECH (all worn on plane or in carry on, bc expensive and needed them all)
* a US/Europe voltage transformer and adapter extension cord box with multiple plug, usb ports
* phone and charging cable
* ear pods and charging cable
* smartwatch and charging cable
* hi capacity external battery charger w multiple usb and usbc ports
(Husband and kids packed laptop, I didn’t)
TOILETRIES and COSMETICS
* starter sunblock. Restock when u get there.
* two small retinol, vit c, and moisturizing skin care tubes
* a very tiny cosmetics pouch w eyeliner, mascara, tweezers, eyeshadow sticks, one glossy lip balm (no brushes bc I can use fingers to blend, no extra powders or blushes or foundation-Europeans don’t wear much makeup)
* razor
* antiperspirant
* one of the small antiperspirant tubes (eg Lumē, but lots of brands on market now: they really do cut down on sweat-stink in summer, and u don’t need much, a pea size dollop in sweaty skin folds will do ya ;) )
* solid shampoo and conditioner bars (cut in half-they last forever)
* brush
(No hairdryer. These are almost always in hotels, airbnbs at appropriate voltage, and I usu let hair air dry anyway)
* menstrual stuff of your choice
* toothbrush and tiny toothpaste
* floss
* daily wear contacts, plus a few extra
* prescription glasses (wear on plane-sleeping on plane dries out your eyes :/ )
MEDS
* some folks in my fam take daily Rx meds-I carried weekly pill boxes, hubs carried extra bottles. Split between us just in case one was lost.
* melatonin to help sleep
* asprin, Advil bc you never know
UNDER-CLOTHES:
* 7 underwear-they’re small, ok to overpack just in case
* 2 bras (wear one on plane. Wash in sink if necessary)
* 3 pairs socks (1 worn on plane, 2 in suitcase. Can wash in sink if needed)
OTHER SHOES:
* one pair “nice” but still comfy shoes, just case we go out. Flats ok. I need something w arch supports.
* Fashion sneakers-nicer looking than my actual running shoes. Wore these every day.
OUTER CLOTHES:
* one pair nice loose, flowy pants, can dress up or down-wear on plane bc it can be ccccold
* one long flowy skirt (good for beach, places or worship that require cover up, can dress up or down)
* skort.
ACCESSORIES:
* belt (wear on plane)
* high-style, fashion-flexible earrings.
OTHER:
* tide/oxiclean stain remover pen (USED SO OFTEN!!! Gelato and espresso can drip :))
* one very lightweight, travel friendly zip up jacket in case of rain. Wear on plane.
* baseball cap or other sun hat. Srsly, the summer sun is strong in Italy. Ok to buy once you arrive in Italy, or on to your carry on.
* lightweight pajamas sleep shirt.
* simple nail polish. Buy remover once in Italy.
* wallet with drivers license (need this if you rent a car!!! A photo won’t do.)
* a few individually wrapped cleaning wipes.
BAGS:
* Carry on bag.
SUGGEST NOT BRINGING:
* jeans. Just too dang hot in summer
* anything that traps or shows sweat. Did I mention it’s hotttt?
* towel
* anything you don’t usually use every day. Eg, If you’re not into wearing makeup, you won’t suddenly transform into a cosmetics scion.
* shoes you’ve never worn before: you’ll probably walk a ton, and blisters suck
* perfume. Leaking happens and then it’s a disaster.
* hair dryer. Go au natural w air drying.
* duds that need ironing. You won’t always have one available.
TO DO BEFORE U GO:
* Get apps, eg TripIt; airplane, train, or bus apps; Airbnb, Booking or other accommodations apps; translation apps you prefer: WhatsApp for communicating-lots of Italian places do not answer email or phone, and prefer WhatsApp communication.
* Make sure tap-to-pay app is activated on yr smart phone. I don’t know if Apple Pay works in Europe, I just used my tap-access bank card. Worked great!!
* Accept a few Euro coins from your friends-you need them to access some bathrooms
* If you’re into body-hair control, get waxed before you go. Bikinis are (very) small, here, no matter your own body size. :)
* If you’re into eyebrow cosmetology, just go ahead and dye your eyebrows before you go.
BUY THERE:
* hand held fan.
* if you’re a beach-goer, I suggest spending $ on the private beach sections that offer umbrellas and towels bc you won’t be traveling with them, and did I mention it’s hot??? Save money in other areas, but for us, this was a worthwhile expense. Price drops if you go after 3 or 4 pm most places.
Omgsh this is an awesome and super detailed yes! Yes it sounds like it was SUPER HOT! My favorite time to visit Italy is May and October- beat the heat but of course it all depends on when you’re going and the activities you plan to do! So helpful! What a wonderful trip and amazing memories for your family!
I'm off to Italy, France and London for 3 weeks. I'm just taking a carry-on.
Oh my gosh how amazing!! Safe travels and enjoy your trip!!
My husband and I are traveling to Rome for the first time. What did you use for security with purse and wallet when sightseeing?
I am going to Alaska next year and into canada and hawaii 4 weeks. We are going carryon . We often have washingmaschines available so it should be easy
Omgsh so fun!! Safe travels and enjoy!!
I really enjoyed seeing how you packed for your trip. Very helpful
thank you for saying so!!
Perfect timing. I’m traveling in October to Milan , Lake Como and Cinque Tette.
Omgsh enjoy enjoy enjoy!!
How did you pass the TSA approval when you have all your liquids in different bags?
Evidently based off of everyone else’s comments, I am lucky ! I didn’t realize it was a massive thing but apparently it is!
Thank you dear for taking us along. Can't wait what the *yutulu* queen picked up at Fendi
I wouldn’t recommend your way at all
You're absolutely right!!! Europe doesn't approved the US pre-check. They are very strict!
Yeah news to me! I have never had any issues, have never been stopped, not even once! And I travel often and used to travel monthly! From everyone’s comments I am aware now that I have been lucky in traveling and that I have not been stopped!
Noted!
TSA is gonna let you take all those liquids through the checkpoint?
They did multiple times and I always travel like this, no one has ever batted an eye.
I did carry on for 4 weeks in Vietnam. I haven’t used a full suitcase for years. You took a lot of stuff for 10 days lol
It worked for me! Also I traveled with a good bit of tech too that takes space! Omgsh how was Vietnam? I’d love to go, would you go back?
I was curious to see how all those shoes fit! and yes dragging huge luggage in train centers is a DISASTER
A NIGHTMARE 😳
My wife and I both just ordered the Beis carry-on and now im reading that for some international airlines it is too big. Contemplating cancelling order and getting the small carry-on.
I think it depends on what you’re flying!
Absolutely love the coat you are wearing! and the niceshopx bag !
How in the heck…wow…amazing! I can’t seem to ever pack in a carry on and personal item…I’m gonna try again for my cruise in Nov…seeing this gives me HOPE that I can do it!
How much do you actually need vs things you like to have or want!
This seems like way more than can fit on my flights restrictions
I didn’t have any issues 🩷
Does the TSA quarter size bag for all carry-on liquids not apply for US travelers any longer?
Apparently I’m lucky if you read through the comments
How did you get all of the makeup and toiletries thru tsa? It’s more then I can put in a quart size baggie
Try to get products in solid form…shampoo bar, deodorant, lotion stick, etc. You can even get toothpaste in tablet form.
I thought airline rules were 1 qt size bag for All liquids which also includes toothpaste, creams. She has them spread out in all of those compartments which looks like 3-4 qt size bags. Am I missing something?
Yeah apparently I way over packed but I have never been stopped before or anything so I got lucky!
@@HappyLife-nf7wb Thank you. This is what I was looking for. Very helpful. Appreciate it. 👍🏼
@@HappyLife-nf7wb oh my gosh so helpful! You go mama! Sounds like quite the process but it works- you're amazing!!
You go Mom!

Hi. I was wondering if you could possibly put a link to your pouches that you bought from Amazon. The clear ones, please.
Hi! Those are super old, similar ones can be found here: amzn.to/4g2ps3g I like these kinds of pouches for jewelry, make up brushes, hair scarves/ties etc so you can easily see!
Thanks for the video, it's exactly what I needed! quick question - it was ok to travel with the scissors in the carry on?
I probably shouldn’t have but I did and I did not get stopped but I do believe they aren’t allowed
Great video and thank you for breaking everything down. My question is what curling iron did you use and was it for European outlet or did it have a converter? Also love the gray bag you packed with it.
Hi! I use T3 irons which have a built in adapter so they can be used internationally!
Great job on your video!!! Did you have to do checked bag for return flight once u expanded it?
I did not!
But we did buy two designer bags and had the paperwork for it…so idk if they played into not being stopped not sure
@@BrittanyAnnCourtney Thank you so much for your detailed response!
@@jennychemer6728 Of course! Hope it was helpful! Have a good day!!!
Is this the new Small Carry-On they have or the regular carry-on?
How did you get around having all your liquids and creams in a quart size bag? Yours looked packed in several different places.
I wasn’t stopped! 🩷 if you read through the comments, evidently I’m super lucky, but this is how I always travel and I never get stopped!
Has anyone ever used the regular beis carry on with british airways
I like the black sandals. Were they not comfortable?
I ended up wearing sneakers 99% of the time
It looks so pretty. Is the bag a lavender color? What color is this ❤😊
It’s more of a mauve tone!
thank you for going through all this. it was very helpful as I am nervous I over purchased. have you ever got a sackable hat in that suitcase?
If I pack a hat, I put it in upside down, surround it with folded clothes and then fill the inside of the hat so it does not bend! I have not pa led a hat in this carry on though FYI! For trips I’ll bring a baseball hat from time to time since it’s small! But I know there are a lot of foldable straw like hats now that might be the better option!
Just to be clear can you also take a purse with your carry on and one personal item?
My purse can fit inside the personal item
@@BrittanyAnnCourtney so you are allowed a carry on, one personal item (backpack, large bag) and your purse?
Your liquid bag is kept where? Scissors??
The toiletry hanging bag!
How did you manage to bring that many liquids?
Read the comments 🙃 evidently it was a miraculous event! 🥲
Carry ons don’t have weight limits so I was good! If you can lift it with your muscles- you’re good! 🩷
@@BrittanyAnnCourtney that’s not the case in Australia so if you ever travel here be careful 🫶🏻
Did you take your regular curling iron and use an adaptor in Europe?
My T3 curling iron automatically adapts so I did not need to! I could not take my dyson Airwrap though, not even with an adaptor
Thank you!
I have TSA precheck but at least in Dallas I could not get through with that many liquids. Do you ever get stopped?😊

Have to comment that there are so many judgy commenters here. Regarding peoples’ liquids bag, TSA rules are always changing and right now, in the US at least, you don’t have to remove your liquids bag from your carry on or personal item bag.

Hi 👋, how did your personal bag fit under your seat? I can’t seem to find a bag that fits nicely under the seat. 🤷♀️
Oh it was wonderful! Fit on all of the flights, delta and American! I loved this bag bc it’s squish able, based off of what you have it in.
