Thank you for your video, is very usefull. I would like to know if the resourses can be imported from Excel without have been created in primavera first, i mean, if the resourses can be created directly from the Excel

I do not know of a way to import new resources that don't exist in your resource library from excel to P6. There used to be an SDK application where you could connect your P6 application to excel and make those kinds of changes in the excel document, but I haven't done that in a long time and don't recall all of the steps to make that work.

thank u 4 the explanation, one question should I add manually the resources ID in the excel that i give it to the construction team (not the excel that i exported from primavera p6) ?

Hi there! Correct me if I misunderstood your question, but it sounds like what you're wanting to know is if you should include the resource ID that is going to be assigned to each activity in the excel file that you send to the construction team. If that's the question then yes, it would make things easier to include the resource ID with each associated activity in the excel file before you send it to the construction team. That way, when you go to do the import, you have the activity ID and the corresponding resource ID that will be imported for each resource assignment. Hope that makes sense!

Thank you, may I know what p6 version you used in this video? Another question is I have 10 k activities schedule, the material units auto calculated, after each update the remaining units increases.. let say the total budgted units is 100% after the schedule update the actual units + remaining units= 102% ?! Can you help

Hi there, I was using version 17.10. regarding the units issue, I would create a global change and make the remaining units equal to the budgeted units minus the actual units.

Hi, thank you for your video. I have a big problem... after create resources and imported assignements into P6, my budgeted total cost is "0".... also I changed the standard rate amount but budgeted total cost is still "0"

So it could be a few things -
If you are wanting to have one resource where you are inputting labor and also want to calculate a cost from that labor resource, you need to make sure the following settings are checked:
      1) Calculate costs from units is checked (make sure it's checked at the resource assignment level - meaning, go to "resource assignments" and make sure that the setting is checked on the assignments that you want).
      2) Price Per Unit at the resource assignment level is set to the $1 per unit, or, whatever dollar amount you desire.
If either of these settings are not checked, the dollar amounts will be zeroed out when the excel file is imported.
As always - If you want 1 on 1 tutoring, I offer it at my website at pjmss.com for a fee.

Hey Pat. Long time. Can price / unit be imported? I could not get the values to come in. In my Excel spreadsheet, I have mh and dollars. I can import mh and dollars but not price / unit. Thoughts?

Hi there - I do not believe Price / Unit is an importable or changeable field on the resource assignment. You can change it in your resource library, but once the resource gets assigned to an activity, you can't have a different price per unit on the same resource for different assignments. My recommendation would be to create different resources with the price/unit that you desire, then assign those resources to the activities.
