Thank you Dan and Jeff for another excellent conversation . When Jeff expressed "We need to develop some of these skill sets, in graded ways experientially, so that the therapist gets into the state of being strategic, utilization, experiential, being hypnotic." and when he shared how we do this by taking simple steps, starting with analogies and move to metaphors, similes, stories, sounds, postures, gestures ... , the image that came to my mind was that of Mr Miyagi, stressing "Wax on, right hand; Wax off, left hand... Wax on... Wax off" in Karate Kid... So, starting with simple steps, practicing them, and adding on as we embody those steps. Also, another great point that came out of this conversation - for me - as Jeff say, it all depends on how we view things regarding the categories, ... and how one core competency dovetails on another. For example, we can think of utilization, tailoring, experiential, ... all falling under the umbrella of Strategic. By this, I mean, it is a strategy that we take on 'being utilizing, being tailoring, being exponential, being goal/outcome-oriented, being symbolic, ..., so all of these are strategies in service of the client, in order to help them move past a block, ... and toward a desired outcome. Now, off to Wax on... Wax off.... Thank you again 🙏
