I'm currently a vet student and it's so refreshing to see someone online who understands these diets are high risk and are not suitable to just create with no input other than Google and to hear about your experiences such as the grain free diet and then getting proper advice from an expert tailored for your actual dogs is great. Obviously we still don't 100% know which diets are perfect for dogs as they all have their own needs and genetics but it's still good to see someone taking the time to get professional input and to be open to changes along the way ❤

I lost my amazing beautiful doggies in a house fire in 2020 & watching this made me cry, If I ever have pups again I will def treat them exactly like this. My babies were super spoiled but I never really thought about cooking their food & wish I would have. You're amazing Lizze & I know Bubz & Icky appreciate everything you do for them !

We cook food for our dogs as well. We give them supplements and homeopathic medicine based on their individual needs. It all has made such a difference! Our chihuahua mix was diagnosed with IMHA in 2019. Her red blood cell count has steadily climbed up to normal range. 🙌 She is doing so well!

I've only cooked for my two chihuahuas meaning my older dog has also been switched over last 2 years. It took me a little bit to figure out which veggies they like so green beans, carrots, broccoli and kale are in nearly every batch with flax seeds mixed in. Meats also were trail and error they like turkey and lamb best as well as liver and low fat beef. I may try the fish. I cook twice a week as I find smaller batches keep better. They used to get Farmers dog but were leaving some and refusing it at other times. They always eat the home made and have not had any poop issues and coats and nails are healthy. I am looking into the supplements. And 100 percent they never get a dirty dish, I use the vintage ceramic dishes for them -they actually eat better than I do usually!
One of my dogs has such terrible allergies and the other has a sensitive tummy. I’ll definitely bring up food at their upcoming vet appointment, thank you so much for this info!!

Lizzie, did the doctor provide any guidance on cooking temperatures for the vegetables to ensure they retain the necessary nutrients? I really want to start this journey with our dog! He is our literal bubble boy! He takes Zyrtec in the Spring/Summer too! I also wash his feeding bowls but I do the same thing with his water bowl so no build up occurs. I bought a bowl holder that keeps it’s high off the ground. I know that would be harder for you bc your boys are so tiny! Thanks for sharing girl ❤️❤️
I lost my little best friend Gracie girl last year and then we lost her brother my husbands best buddy George this year. I still think about them everyday. They loved home cooked food too! Lizzie here a theory u might wanna pitch to shane. Almost all the dog food companies are owned by 2 conglomerates (who also own Banfield and some other vets). Surprisingly the entire pet food industry is so corrupt and monopilized
I knew it would clear up Icky´s stained eyes if you cooked home made food without all the food dyes! ❤️ For the skin allergies, my dog had the worse dander because of the dog shampoos, I switched him to FREE AND CLEAR(human shampoo) within the first shampoo he cleared up! Also used the conditioner on him and his fur was so soft and NO DANDER!
It honestly really helped us with Bubz. Cuz he hated diets, the diet food wasn’t tasty & he went to bed hungry and pissed. He literally rebelled against us and started barking at us at night and refusing to go to bed until we fed him propped food. And now he LOVES his food and cuz there’s no weird shit in it we can sometimes give him a bigger portion and he doesn’t gain weight - it’s great!
Omg thank you Lizze, I've been looking for a dog food recipe. My dog has been taking a med called apoquel from the vet and its expensive for his skin condition. Hes constantly itching and shaking his head and scratching to the point where he breaks skin. I hope this helps i e tried EVERYTHING!
