Pure pocket genius! I might have to make this duffel too. But elaborating on your idea, I think I’ll cut 2 circles and fold each together in half making the top one shorter. And putting the,zip between. Then you have the whole circle to use…..??? I shall see…lol! Okay….i kept watching and I LOVE YOUR WAY! LOOKS GREAT!

That’s a great idea too to do the full circle! I just wasn’t sure if it would mess up the D ring connector for the strap. You should try it!!

I know your no longer live. But I’m going to put my two cents in too on that zipper pocket, I think your problem might be solved by making the same slip pocket but instead of outer just use two of the lining fabric and one outer fabric. I’ll get the pattern and make it and show you what I’m talking about. And you can get leather double sided tape, it does make the needle a bit sticky but I just take it out and clean it with goo gone or something like that. I get it from Wawak Sewing Supplies.
