Me! Look up Rio Grande turkeys and Bourbon Reds. BEAUTIFUL birds! They taste better than store bought, too. Store bought turkey tastes like they pump it with water first 🫣

And delicious! I raise mostly chickens (but some turkeys). Both are cute while small (not so much when adults). Turkeys though, are incredibly stupid. The number of times I have had to physically move them into shelter in a hail storm ! Chickens will go back into their coop, some turkeys will, some require guidance, and some have to be grabbed and moved.

I have chickens and a turkey. I hear dinosaur noises all day from them. It's really fascinating sometimes.
@@justinroe9271 As a kid I was fascinated by dinosaurs. But now that I know more, imagining a T-Rex as a gigantic chicken with teeth is even cooler and scarier.

What a beautiful little story. I love the little chirps that the turkey was making. It never ceases to amaze me how much people will do for a wild creature. These two wonderful ❤️ earth angels gave her the best possible care for her to be able to go back into her natural environment ❤️ ♥️.

I’ve had baby turkeys before! They’re very floppy when they’re younger, but they get really strong once grown up! And yes, they’re incredibly affectionate.
Love that as soon as you were given an egg by your dogs was to get an incubator to raise her to let her one day go wild, expect her to come back at one point and nest nearby since she knows your area to be safe with food & water.

I'll bet they don't eat turkey anymore .. a good reason to go completely vegan at this point. All animals are sentient beings worthy of protection.

I love turkeys, they're such sweet birds, even the males are big cuddle bugs you can give hugs to, depending on how they're raised. I used to have 3 toms named Teddy, Pilgrim, and Dusty. Dusty and Teddy loved hugs, Pilgrim was just indifferent but he wasn't mean at all.

I love this video but it reminds me of the time a baby bird fell from the nest and was lying on the ground, barely breathing. Tried to save the little bastard but we couldn’t help him in time. RIP Baby birdie, fly high.

I haven't eaten red meat since '72, but I ate poultry. Decided to raise my own turkeys. Taking them to "processing plant" aka slaughterhouse was the worst day of my life. They are truly wonderful birds, sweet and affectionate. That will haunt me the rest of my life and I haven't touched a bite of poultry since, and that was over 10 years ago. Hats off to you for what you did here.

Lovely story. I was a "caretaker " for dozens of turkey families over a 5yr period in rural Oregon. I put out crushed corn for them and they'd come. I witnessed new babies every spring and kept a count. One turkey appeared in my yard One day with one leg that was broken or had severed tendons but he hopped on the othe leg. I called him Hoppy. He knew I was putting out food for him away from the other bully birds. Eventually he came around before the others because I fed him separately. I moved away from there and hope he's OK. I asked neighbors to watch for him as he hopped around the neighborhood. I heard there were neighbors feeding him. God bless my neighbors and Hoppy.

In the world of birds, there are two different types of offspring (basically) Precocial and Altricial. Precocious chicks, such as turkeys, chickens, pheasants, ducks and the like, are basically ready to go when they hatch. They are covered in down, can walk and feed themselves. Altricial chicks are hatch out naked, eyes closed and unable to move or feed themselves..these are most "song birds" that people are familiar with like Cardinaas, Bluejays, sparrows, etc. So, when that little turkey hatched, it was ready to go...very little maintanence except keeping it safe and making sure it has enough food. Thanks for saving this individual!

There’s a PBS doc about an old lonely farmer that was given an entire tub of wild turkey eggs, it’s such an amazing doc, he raised about 15 of em from egg til they flew away, those little wild chicks knew which species of snake was venomous and steer clear, then would toy around and play with the harmless ones, 100 million years of evolutionary instinct is why they automatically know

From my experience wrap your outdoor kennel with wire so racoons can't put their paws into the kennel. Wrap the roof, sides and door. Racoons are awsome, but unfortunately they will rip off heads, wings off pets/ birds if they can get their little paws in the cage.
THAT IS RIGHT BOYS, WE ARE GOING BACK IN TIME TO THE FIRST THANKSGIVING. TO GET TURKEYS OFF THE MENU. The movie of that turkey quote was sharp.

I was trying to follow along to see what the turkey and rooster were up to on her socials and the IG isn't there but her tik tok is. Looks like she went through a breakup but I hope she is okay and was able to find the birds a good home.
The first person who encountered the turkey and rooster walking together down the street was probably like wtf.

Awe! I completely forgot how cute baby turkeys are! My family had, with other types of birds, a few when I was a kid. The tom, Tom Turkey by name, was my buddy & when he was an adolescent I used to carry him around & let him catch flies. He would also take naps in my lap even as an adult but would fuss something awful if I accidentally jostled him out of his sleep.
