I always keep the butter in room temperature in a container. It doesn’t last long anyway. We didnt notice anything odd.

Great to hear this , very interesting, mine goes for weeks maybe even months.. room temperature would probably ruin it! But I should revisit the subject in another video talk about the butter bell and room temp alternative more in depth;) thanks for the prompt

We've always had a full stick or two in a dish on the counter. Once one stick is all that's left we add a new one. Even with butter out for a week or two, we've never had it change in taste, texture or color.

I think 2 weeks is where you would start noticing changes but I fully get your point; maybe something we can look at here in the lab.. thanks for commenting and if you have an video idea, please share... :-)

I really learned something today. Very useful and informative video. Lucky are the the students of your class!!! HOWEVER..... I have a question that I really expected to be included in the video but it's NOT: Butter that was left outside and became soft just enough to be spreadable, is it safe to put back in the fridge?

Yeap, no problem at all.. if it was ice cream or frozen meat or anything that had to do with freezing, it would have been different story but with butter is no issue. Agreed that I missed it.! Thanks “Butter smooth” :-)

Alway store the stick of butter being used at room temp. My mom always did too. We go through so much butter it would be rare for the open stick to last more than a few days outside the fridge and We have never had any go bad.

Thanks , that’s very interesting, most of the viewers are applying room temperature to butter storage .. I should come up with a follow up video and try it myself. :)

I never put butter in the fridge... And Ive never, ever seen mold on it... Guess we use it too fast to spoil...

:-) about 2 weeks in room temp should be ok, actually.. later, maybe no mold but oxidation/ loss of nice aroma.. thanks for commenting, cheers

I have left the butter out for days. It doesn’t have the chance to get rancid, it’s used to quickly!

Using a butter bell is a way to keep butter fresh at room temperature.

They make salted butter in the UK!? That's amazing because nobody does that anywhere else in the world! Really, ask a foreigner and they'll be amazed at the novel idea of salted butter!

Aha.. true :) but saying that, salt and butter is a great match. The same goes with sugar. Or garlic. Butter is an amazing flavour carrier and has amazing flavour itself ..

Just for the record better is another form of milk. It has an expiration date. Leaving it out of the fridge expedites the expiration date.
