I just recently purchased a butter bell (I also got mine from Amazon). I bake sourdough bread about once a week and my husband and I love the convenience of soft butter for the sourdough toast alone! 😀 Soft butter is also convenient to make a grilled sandwich. Having the butter bell on the counter doesn't make us consume more butter...it just makes it more convenient when we do use it.
we have alwaya left our butter out in a butter dish (covered, but not sealed or air tight)... it's never gone rancid. does the bell REQUIRE water? or will it keep the same as it has always done in/on a butter dish?
well, the water is meant to be the sealant , but I hear you, even without it is fine.. this is also the opinion of a lot of folks in this channel/video..
hmm.. spoiled as oxidised or mouldy? maybe the water sealing is not working well, maybe the butter was initially too old/not fresh.. try a different butter and a small butter bell.. dunno ,,, :-/
yes, indeed, it is no problem for the butter to be a bit wet. it creates a layer that prevent oxygen for jumping in and ruin things. but when it is not full, well, you are right; that's not ideal.. hopefully the cone space means that you will go through the last part of the butter relatively quickly,, but good points, Thanks!
Thank you 😊 🙏 very well explained Dr.
I use mine only from late October till early April...because I live in the desert. It's just perfect for my guilty pleasure of Irish butter.
Irish butter is unmatched! I agree that if room temperature is over 23dC, the game changes , we can’t discuss for over the counter storage
I think this is the best instructional video about the use, the pros and the cons, of a butterbell.
ohhh thanks BlueMoon!

thanks for the on-point comments!.. glad you guys enjoy the convenience while keeping consumption unchanged!
Great video- I am hoping I will use less butter because it will spread more easily?
Saw one in a medieval market in Germany last week but I didn't buy one because I didn't understand how it works. I will buy one soon!
Thanks for sharing! Let’s us know in a while if that works for you and/or fits your lifestyle , if you can…

I know that I will consume that butter within those few weeks that the bell will give me.

I’d think without the water, at certain temps it would melt into the bottom since it’s upside down
All I need soft butter for is to spread it on bread or toast or muffins. Cold butter melts quickly for recipes in the oven or in a heated pan
I love butter, do they make a butter bucket?😊
Hey, I'm a potter! I'll make a butter bucket for you! Lol!
I love butter! Lol! But seriously I am a pottery and its something useful that I can make.
I would like to hear about appetite and supression information !!! I love my Butter Bell !
yes, will do something about appetite suppression in the next video) thanks!
What is the pickle container called? The butter bell doesn't hold enough butter, is there a butter bucket?
:-)
Where did you get your shirt from please?
Lovely video.
Zara!! but was some years ago.. always loved the London Tube branding for some reason... :-) this is what this shirt was going for,,
I have a mini butter bell. It's perfect for just one person.
Great! Thanks for the comment. I haven’t seen a mini but I can imagine
I was just wondering if there is a mini, great info. I’m going to go search one out, thanks!!
My butter spoils in the bell after a few wks. What am I doing wrong??

Change the water daily
Свежая чистая вода залог успеха👌
Few weeks?! - You don't eat enough butter.
Is the butter meant to stay in contact with the water? Or should you leave an air pocket, or let one form when the bell isn’t full anymore?

Thanks. I love butter. Instead of gain weight and fat. I loose weight.
makes you satiated; not as hungry..
Butter sitting around saying "EAT ME!" is probably not a good idea. 😂😂😂😂
So true!
Store it in the pantry out of sight!
stores it at room temperature and what is that temperature supposed to be? Room temperature is so vague and misleading
Whatever temperature the room is.
18-21dC, 64-70F maybe ?
