When I download the media creation tool on my windows 8 PC it does not work. Why? I have a windows 10 key code that works, but lost my installation media.
The Windows version "Home or Pro" is automatically determined during the upgrade process. It's based on your Win 10 version if doing an upgrade or the Windows version that was previously on the device if doing a new fresh install of Windows 10. And if you previously had on the device Windows 10 32bit you get 32bit, if you previously had Windows 10 64bit you get 64bit. If fresh install on brand new device that never had Window installed on it before, you will choose Windows version during the install process.
Speed all depends on how busy Microsoft download servers are at the time, how fast your internet and wifi connection is and the performance of your PC.

You can upgrade from 10 to 11 but you can not downgrade from 11 to 10

How much is the download size?
You will need a 8GB or bigger size USB flash drive for the download.

This allows you to upgrade to Windows 10 or perform clean install. But you can not downgrade to Windows 11 to Windows 10.

How to install Windows 10 after downloading with the windows
The USB drive will be bootable, so you just boot your laptop PC with it and Windows install will begin automatically.
