For those who care, Still Wakes The Deep was one of those games that left a mark in my opinion. I only give that praise to games like Outlast, Soma, Firewatch, and Visage when we’re talking horror. Among others. But Still Wakes was amazing. I was particularly floored by the acting. The voice acting in this game was top notch. Also, spoiler free heads up, the first “scary encounter” is both horrifying and phenomenally acted in my opinion. Truly recommend.
Lies of P scares me enough that I don't play it at night 😂. It's my first 3D Souls-like game and I'm not doing well with with remembering tbe mechanics. Given that everything wants to brutally rip the poor guy apart, I'm never sure if I should try to fight to get EXP or just keep running, lol.
I think Lies of P has an pretty good horror vibe in its world, and while I wasn't scared playing it, the Opera House gave me the creeps and kept me tense the whole time
Darkwood is a must play for horror enthusiasts. A top down perspective seems contradictory to a horror setting, but I can only play it in short bursts before I’m fed up with the stress and the atmosphere.
Just finished still wakes the deep because of ur guys’ review of it earlier this year and I scooped it on sale. It is such a sick game. Definitely recommend it for horror junkies, especially those who love The Thing.
I think calling Alan Wake 2 a horror game doesn't do it justice. It's SO. MUCH. MORE. Finished The Lake House yesterday and now I join the long wait for Control 2. But man. Remedy DELIVERS everytime. Also, I have to mention the Enigma series because it's never enough people talking about it. The Enigma Machine, MOTHERED, MOTHERED: Home, Echostasis Prologue and Echostasis. All of these games on the short and cheap side (two of them are for free) and worth any discerning horror fan's time.
Amnesia like a walking simulator is putting it lightly. Someone saying they find an entry on this list boring. I’ll say it for the Amnesia games together. I found them pretty boring. To an annoying extent sometimes with the first one. Playing it while watching videos like this that song it’s praises every few days didn’t help. I liked this list though. I do wonder why the insistence on finding games “scary”. Games can look eerie, have a cool mystery story behind it, gore, etc, and be very fun and have a nice spooky vibe. But they aren’t actually “scary”. Most people will just get caught up in a jump scare. I don’t mind those, I kinda like them. But gaming journalism (said with air quotes) always downgrades them as cheap and cliche’. When in actuality, jump scares, even though only momentary, often bare more fruit than average horror games. Being scared is highly relative. I’ve jumped or twitched at many well known jump scares, like RE1, if I remember right, but the Fatal Frame series and that hokey Ju-On game on the Wii genuinely scared me. That’s cuz I like those Tartan releases of the far East Asia horror films that creep me the hell out, if not outright scare me. Those traditional white face, big eyes, long black hair female ghost indeed scare me pretty solidly. Does it do that for everybody else? Probably not, but what what scares one person may not scare the next. But any well placed jump, leaves the possibility of an accidental puddle party. These videos frustrate me often cuz they never seem to recognize that.
People use the term walking simulator wrong it is an actual genre of game but simple-minded people who think a lot of walking is equivalent to walking simulator keep putting that label on the wrong games. Technically, in order for a game to be a walking simulator it has to have no combat or game over screens. It has to exclusively be a narrative focused game where all you do is walk and interact with things. But, if there are enemies that can kill you, if you can get a game over and have to try again, then by definition it's not a walking simulator
@ Oh I know. I only used it because the video referenced walking simulators. Think it was for that entry. I was just trying to emphasize how boring that game is. Real WS are made and written way differently and are often pretty good.

Maybe he didn't like it. Why is it weird that he didn't shout out a former colleague? Is he required or supposed to? It's a list of horror games he likes so far not a list of games that are voiced by people he knows
I don’t have a PC, so haven’t been able to play it yet. I’m looking forward to it and sure it’ll be in other lists if it comes to other platforms but this vid is about stuff I’ve played myself and loved
Scary isn't always about the player being scared. Sometimes it's just about the situation, atmosphere or setting. something doesn't have to be scary in order to be horror. Horror is way more nuanced than that
That being said I did find the lake house DLC to be scary because of the design of the paint monsters. Tall and spindly creatures in the dark are intimidating, especially when you can't kill them by conventional means
25 mins for a top 10 horror, yeah nah. I don't care who's presenting, it doesn't take 25 mins to do this I thought Jess or Jules were time hogs but no. Your King in appearance to video length
"I didn't like it. Therefore, it's bad." Is a very pretentious approach. Instead, try this: "Game wasn't for me personally, but I'm glad others liked it"
I see too much of your face on not enough of the game you're talking about. You're handsome man but it's off-putting and it takes away from what you're talking about.

Just understand that I prefer to watch the game play he's talking about as opposed to looking at his face. So we can all understand what he is talking about. Don't make it weird
To you maybe. But that's your subjective taste. I mean there's literally a Resident Evil game on this list and that's one of the most popular franchises of all time
Really enjoy the countdown format but with a more in-depth deep dive into each number like this. the long format is really nice!
Same
For me two of the best horror games I have played are The Suffering and Alien Isolation.
I'm still waiting on a suffering rerelase or remake
Crow Country was so damn good.
Fully agree. Brought me back to the PS1 days in the best way possible

There is more than one save point in The Bunker, Josh
Doesn’t matter how hard people tries to convince me
I will never play Silent Hill 2
Shout out for the Puppet Combo love. They’re incredible slept on
What about Conscript? Interesting it wasn't followed up after Amnesia: the Bunker as both are set in the WWI trenches
Can we get timestamps for this/future video?
Love the thumbnail 👌
These are the games I'll have to play in the daytime 😂.
This did NOT need to be a 25 minute video. 15 would've been fine.
