G’day mate - I just came across the Zero to 60 channel via the YT algorithm as I also own an E53 with a replacement Android Head Unit installed after the original OEM head unit pixel died. The IBUS dongle and app seems as though it will present the data that I was initially used to viewing. Many thanks for letting this ‘BM owner know about this ‘new’ tech! Cheers

I have just ordered one of these, good news if you have a dsp car , for a little extra they now have an addition to the license which also controls your dsp for stereo through the original unit without running any extra wiring to the back apparently

Can’t I just install the eonon and the sub and amp and just bypass the dsp stuff I’m not entirely sure what dsp or ibus do 😅

You made it look simple and bypassed how to actually set it up in my Xtrons radio. I downloaded the app. purchased the license. Now when I try to unlock I get an error message it is not interfaced. Please address potential problems and how to solve them.
I understand but I have a 2003 BMW e39 which is a different setup. It does not have a blue connector the onboard information was controlled through the factory radio. I am working with Xtrons and I-BUSApp now to solve the problem. Don't mis understand me your video was a lot of help to me. Keep doing what you do.

Yes it was the same on mine! I can’t remember exactly but there was a setting about “Driver Passenger - passenger driver” something that was a bit of a guess as to what it would do exactly. If you can’t find the setting let me know and I’ll go through all the menus when I’m back at my car and try to find it.

I have the same IBUS app and USB dongle installed on my E39, how do you activate the clock/time, date, fuel consumption, range on your instrument cluster? I can see all the OBC info on the IBUS app, however it does not link to the instrument cluster on the dash. MY IKE setting is currently enabled.
Hi Leon, Ive been doing some research because those functions were enabled from the factory on my car. It turns out there were 2 types of clusters fitted to E39s and I think the "Low" cluster might not display as many functions as the "High" cluster. With you car: Do you have a BC button on the end of the stalk? Do you have a factory screen in the dash? Does your cluster show the oil service lights on the LH side or the RH side? Can you view the outside temperature on your cluster?
Zero To 60 yes I have a BC button on the end of the stalk and a factory screen 16:9 OEM screen, the oil service light is on the LHS of the instrument cluster and have a temperature display. I used to able to synchronise the time and display from the OBC via the ibus app onto the dash instrument cluster display, however everything went to reset after I disconnected the battery. Did yours appear automatically once you’ve hooked it up via the I-bus app?
The same happened to me. After disconnecting the battery, I can’t see any info on the ike, not even the time, I can only see range. Also I cannot reset consumption neither on the ike nor the ibus app
Felipe Sańchez Serrano so everything was working fine with Ibus and Android until you disconnected the battery? That’s worrying if you can’t get the same info back on your instrument cluster.

Or point me to some explicit instructions online for configuring various lighting combinations? The I-BUS app Wiki is, in my opinion, mostly useless. Where you've tapped into, IE off the blue plug, is that blue plug not plugged into anything? I pulled my headunit out looking for the quadlock connector and it wasn't there, just a loom and plug straight into the HU 🤷♂️

it is a can bus, but there are a few different buses with in the car. The can bus modules in the units normally only pick up things like gear position and steering wheel controls. As far as i am aware the app requires the dongle.
Very good application. I have an e53 and I just bought a used system from an e39 owner. My car doesn’t have a blue connector but has the same colour wires on a white connector is that the one I use to connector the ibus interface?
To be honest i am not 100% sure. If you can find your connector id and then work out what each wire does in there is should be listed online somewhere, which ones you need to tap in to.

oo that was actually a tricky one. There was an option in a deep menu somwhere and it was worded weirdly, like: driver LH side, Drive RH side with a toggle button. Something like that anway

Ehm my unit doesnt have usb port on it and i se yoy connected the ibus usb stick in an external usb port off some sort thats agian connected to a port on the unit? In that case i need that to be able to use the ibus app so could you please help me with getting that cable i need for the ibus usb stick? 😊
You will need to speak to whoever you got the unit from. The androids normally use the same cable, but some manufacturers will change pin outs on plugs. So to be safe definitely speak to whoever you bought the unit from.

hello i got E53 I3.0 2005 equipped with DSP , if you can lead me to a specific android head unit that can work with the DSP!! last week i have tried one head unit that did not bring out the voice from the DSP.
Pretty much all of them will if you have the ibus app. However, you do also need to have a fully functioning standard stereo, if any of the old components are not working it all gets messy as they all need to communicate.

I am having little problem trying to understand something Some people tell on videos that you can plug and play the radio after installation, in the other hand some said that you have to get a 6M cable to connect to the rear component( trunk)... You will need the 6m cable. You amp is all in the boost if you have navigation. So you will need the 6m cable to connect the android to the amp in the boot.
I’m taking it the amp could be bypassed and still go on I-bus and use a aftermarket 5channel? And then tap the rear leads at amp to run doors and rear deck?? Please advise
I have a 2000 e39 pre facelift with the older cluster display and non nav basic head unit with the tape deck behind the little flap and 6 stack in the boot. I have been seriously looking at installing an android unit, I have a bluetooth module wired into the stock unit and its been good but after seeing this and your other vid on this unit I'm pretty much sold but I'm thinking I may not get the functionality that you have with the ibus. I think I should take a gamble on it.

Ibus interface installed in my e53 app downloaded and tested, went to the website and payed for all 3 licenses but isn't unlocking. Did it take a while to process for you or did it unlock straight away mate
Gents, I need help. How do you remove center dash vent on E39? I've inspected pics of them, followed tutorials about sliding credit cards into the corners between vent unit and hole in dash to depress tabs, got a pair of pliers wrapped in a cloth on the fascia, pulled - nothing. It will not budge. Most tutorials just smash the slats and grab and pull - I don't want to break mine, just remount the airflow direction tabs. Remove Factory MID and CD and push from behind? tried that (without depressing tabs) - bugger-all aceess. Subbed.
Yes remove the radio and push it from the back. If that doesn't work use a thin kitchen knife with a rounded tip to press the tabs of the ventilation unit and try pushing it from the rear again.

I imagine it will be due to how you have the unit linked to your current system. There are quite a few different OEM set ups that need to be wired in to differently. I am so sorry, this was so long ago and i havent seen this car in a couple of years now. I honestly can't remember. However i have installed quite a few units now and sometimes it can be real luck of the draw which one works well

Hey, Unfortunately no. You can only have one piece of info sent to the cluster display at a time.

The blue plug is on the modes with the stereo modules in the boot. The base models have a iso connector. Not the blue and white connectors.
for me it shows and the volume and the radio station when i switch e39 2001 520i eonon android 8.1

im sorry i can't offer a proper solution. Each of the units differ in thier update proces. Have you been xda developers forum?

Can you hook subs and the amp remote wire to that unit ?
Where is connected the USB Doungle? I mean you spliced the wires to ibus factory cable and where's connected de female usb doungle?
It goes straight in to any of the data USB ports on the android. Most androids have all data ports, but some models have ports purely for charging.

Do I only need to connect the high or low canbus wire or do you need a adapter?
For ibus app you need the ibus usb adapter. Only one wire to make the adapter work tho.

It does but you still need the ibus dongle. The app looks for the dongle to communicate with the car.

oo that was actually a tricky one. There was an option in a deep menu somwhere and it was worded weirdly, like: driver LH side, Drive RH side with a toggle button. Something like that anway
Is there a way to get he reverse camera and PDC radar to display together and automatically when reverse is selected?

I haven’t go e53 unfortunately. I recommend sending ibus an email and they will know how to get the SWC working again 👍

Ehm my unit doesnt have usb port on it and i se yoy connected the ibus usb stick in an external usb port off some sort thats agian connected to a port on the unit?
In that case i need that to be able to use the ibus app so could you please help me with getting that cable i need for the ibus usb stick? 😊
You will need to speak to whoever you got the unit from. The androids normally use the same cable, but some manufacturers will change pin outs on plugs. So to be safe definitely speak to whoever you bought the unit from.
@@ZeroTo60Tube i accually remembered that the usb cable you guys used, followed in the kit for the android radio i bought for my e39 cause i remembered that ive seen that cable lying some where in the car or in my house 😅 so am Gonna look for it 😊

hello i got E53 I3.0 2005 equipped with DSP , if you can lead me to a specific android head unit that can work with the DSP!!
last week i have tried one head unit that did not bring out the voice from the DSP.
Pretty much all of them will if you have the ibus app. However, you do also need to have a fully functioning standard stereo, if any of the old components are not working it all gets messy as they all need to communicate.

Yes a few people do run ibus app on android tablets, just need the OTG usb cable in to the dongle.

The head unit comes with multiple USB inputs at the back of the unit so its plugged in there

If you mean the ibus app, you can set it to auto start in android. However how to do that will depend on your specific version of Android.

The ibus will work. However just keep in mind it may not show as much info as this car.

Some people tell on videos that you can plug and play the radio after installation, in the other hand some said that you have to get a 6M cable to connect to the rear component( trunk)...

You will need the 6m cable. You amp is all in the boost if you have navigation. So you will need the 6m cable to connect the android to the amp in the boot.
I’m taking it the amp could be bypassed and still go on I-bus and use a aftermarket 5channel? And then tap the rear leads at amp to run doors and rear deck?? Please advise

I have a 2000 e39 pre facelift with the older cluster display and non nav basic head unit with the tape deck behind the little flap and 6 stack in the boot. I have been seriously looking at installing an android unit, I have a bluetooth module wired into the stock unit and its been good but after seeing this and your other vid on this unit I'm pretty much sold but I'm thinking I may not get the functionality that you have with the ibus. I think I should take a gamble on it.

@@lemiwinks7794 I bought an Xtrons unit, I didn't try to connect iBus with that, the screen died after 18 months. I replaced with an Avin Avant 4, which is excellent, I have functional iBus with that.

Ibus interface installed in my e53 app downloaded and tested, went to the website and payed for all 3 licenses but isn't unlocking.
Did it take a while to process for you or did it unlock straight away mate
Took about 4-5 hours from memory. But its a manual process, so it depends how you time it with thier working hours.
Got an email a few hours later a worked straight away haven't much time playing with but already worthwhile, thanks mate
Gents, I need help. How do you remove center dash vent on E39? I've inspected pics of them, followed tutorials about sliding credit cards into the corners between vent unit and hole in dash to depress tabs, got a pair of pliers wrapped in a cloth on the fascia, pulled - nothing. It will not budge. Most tutorials just smash the slats and grab and pull - I don't want to break mine, just remount the airflow direction tabs.
Remove Factory MID and CD and push from behind? tried that (without depressing tabs) - bugger-all aceess.

Yes remove the radio and push it from the back. If that doesn't work use a thin kitchen knife with a rounded tip to press the tabs of the ventilation unit and try pushing it from the rear again.

You can obviously manually turn them on. But with the ibus setup, you can automate it.

I imagine it will be due to how you have the unit linked to your current system. There are quite a few different OEM set ups that need to be wired in to differently. Hey Guys , just install my Xtrons Android 10 | Hexa Core | 4GB RAM & 64GB ROM | HD Output | PQS1053BL for my X5 E53 2006 model , I bought the Resler USB I-BUS module but not paid for the licence but the trouble have I cant install the Ibus App into my unit even I followed all the steps to connect the Ibus with the Android unit .
Could you please help me out how to install it and to pay for the licence for use it

I am so sorry, this was so long ago and i havent seen this car in a couple of years now. I honestly can't remember. However i have installed quite a few units now and sometimes it can be real luck of the draw which one works well

I think the BlueBus is a much more simplified device. Doesn't do the features of the ibus app, but i could be wrong.

Sorry we can't answer that, this is a non DSP car. But there is something strange you need to do with the DSP, they are not quite as straight forward.
