Here's a great robot kit that's fun to build. He walks on 6 legs and has sensors to keep him from bumping into things. Where to get him: a.co/d/cAeX5vq
I got this guy! I bought him from a small store called Robot City in the Chicagoland area. Apparently the store used to be much bigger before covid hit, and they had to move into a small shop in the mall. I ended up returning to that mall a few years later and the store was gone. I really hope it comes back soon, the guy running it seemed to be the owner, and he clearly loved robots with a passion.
There is yet another version. It uses a micro:bit SBC. You can program it with MakeCode. They may not make them any more. I got mine from eBay. I wish it had more sensors. With just the IR sensors on the body it can't be programmed to do much.
I think I've seen the one you're talking about. This was definitely a more simple one but I was looking for something like this and it was a fun kit! 😄
Very cool robot kit. It seems to work great. Seems like a fair price for what you get. Might be fun to buy one just to reverse engineer the mechanics. Thank you for sharing with us.
What we call AI changes over time. When I was involved with AI in the 1980s we called all kinds of things AI. Much of what we called AI is considered main stream now. Here is a brief history of AI: 1956: Most people point to the Dartmouth conference as the real start. 1960s: First there were heuristics. We thought if we just had enough heuristics we would solve AI. That didn’t work. 1980s: Next we tried rules. We thought if we just had enough rules we would solve AI. That didn’t work. 2000s: Then we had neural networks. We think if we just use enough training examples we will solve AI. 2020s: Now it is generative AI. AI can now create things using Large Language Models. We think AI will be solved very soon.
And yet, improvement happened. AI is not a binary, if you'll pardon the pun, it comes in degrees. There is no singular point where "AI has been achieved". It's here now, getting smarter every day.
@@Hamdad We say AI is solved when we have AGI (Artificial General Intelligence). AGI is somewhat subjective. The original Turing test was when a human could speak to AI and not know you are talking to AI. There are claims that GPT has passed the Turing test. However, we don't really consider that AGI after all. But yes, there is progress every day. I have divided the history into 20 year increments because it seems to me like there is a 20 year life cycle going on in AI. This is based on me studying AI in the 1970s, working in AI research in the 1980s, then leaving the field during the AI winter of the 90s. Getting back into AI now so that I can add AI to the curriculum I use to teach computer science at a local high school.
That is a cute robot. And he gets around so well for the spider-like legs that he has. Very neat!
@BrianV I'm surprised how good he walks! Even on carpet although not quite as easily. 😁

@CorvodaPop Oh wow! I'd love to go to a store like that! That's cool! So sad that it's gone. 😔

moxie
Reminds me of Tachikoma from GITS. Bandai should make some bots. They’re sleeping
I bet Bandai would do some really good ones! I like their model kits.

You'd love this John! It was really fun to put together and you'd probably do some kind of cool mods to it! 😁

Wow! That's pretty cool. Yeah, for better or for worse, I think it's coming.

He looks cool! Where can i get one?
There's a link in the description.
that looks a lot like the robot tobbie😔
Can we see your collection? IT must be quite impressive.
It's getting out of control! 😂🤣😅
cute little guy
There is no way that this has AI built in.
I think they were using the term a bit loosely but I love it anyway! 😄
Nope..only room for one cutie robot & that’s Emo. 😅
@@yamil.343 Emo's number 1! 😁😍
