A couple of quick things: Be very careful not to let Loona fall down the stairs. She has a sensor under her chin but if it's too dark, she won't see the edge and she will take a tumble and you definitely don't want that to happen. When the charging dock comes out (I think around April) I'm hoping we can leave Loona on so she can roam around the house when she wants to and she's supposed to be able to greet you at the door when you come home. But without the charging dock, you have to turn her off when you're done playing with her otherwise she's in "Standby Mode" even if she looks like she's off when she goes to sleep and her battery will run down. Also, when you say "Hello Loona", be sure to wait for the waves to show from her eyes and her ear lights pulsate to indicate that she's listening to you. Background noise or her moving around might interfere with her ability to hear you so keep that in mind as well. Also, she's not meant to be used outdoors. The rough ground would ruin her very nice wheels and dirt or water would be very bad for her.

The lucky part is if i bought this i would be lucky since i dont have stairs..apart from the stairs in my flat but other then that it would be pretty safe. Another thing is my cat...oh lord.

I like it that companies those are designing robots, started to prefer screen faced designs more. As long as they don’t have a design similar to WALL-E, or AMECA, typical robot face designs are usually aren’t that good at imitating expressions. Screen face at least makes them look cartoonish. And it is ridicolous that those new companies are trying to sue each other all the time because screen faced designs are inevitably similar. As if they discovered america in the first place.
I agree. Digital Dreamlabs has pretty much lost my respect with them constantly suing other robot companies. They can't patent eyes! They're just mad because these other robot companies have left them in the dust. Too bad because I really love Vector.
I think part of the problem is that even though face animations are ok to use it's the actual graphics that are arguably intellectual property. I think Cosmo came out first, followed by Vector - both made by the same company. It's clear that Emo used identical graphics, so understandably DDL (the current owners of Cosmo/Vector) would want to sue the competing company. Luna may fall foul of the same issue, although the graphics are different - but some of the expressions may be considered copies.

Loona was put on hold briefly right at the end of her crowdfunding but after two or three days she was back on and the funding was achieved. It would be interesting to see them on the receiving end of a lawsuit for a change.
The company you speak of that's suing everyone for screen faces and eyes already delivered me two defective robots who have been sitting in diagnostics at their repair center for over a month. I guess that's over 600 dollars I'll never see. Rather than suing others they should be worrying about keeping their user base.

Yay! I'm happy my favourite Robotic TH-camr putted a video of Loona on TH-cam finally! 😁 She is quite large also, right? (at least bigger than EMO, Vector and Cozmo) My Loona will arrive I think in February or March... Decided to not go for the Christmas delivery option... (however, I did choose to add the Christmas outfit which will come with Loona then)

I received my Loona yesterday... I have to say, I like Emo much more. Loona seems too hyper, distracted, and more like a combo of Odie (from Garfield) and an over sugared 2 year old. Maybe once her dock gets here, I will have more time to work with her. The lighting in my home is softer which doesn't help. I'm still busy building my old school B9, so Emo fits my life better. Thanks to you, I have Vector, Emo, and Loona! My wife says 3 dogs, 3 Robots (4th on the way) and 2 cats is making her crazy! :) Thanks for sharing, your vids are always appreciated!

Since we're early on with Loona, I'm sure they'll tweak her as time goes on and they get more feedback from owners. Vector and Emo started the same way. That's so awesome you're building a B9! Mine still stands proudly even after 22 years. I'm glad you have real pets too. I wouldn't want them to ever be replaced by robots but it's nice to have both. 😁
I think if Luna could talk and interact like emo she would be the perfect pet robot for me. What I like about emo is he can talk and he seems like a friend but I like that she is bigger and can roam around on her own and when she can self charge she would be a great companion. Do you think they will make her to be able to talk and interact like emo? If so I’d buy her in a heartbeat.
I've wondered the same thing. I think it would benefit her to be able to talk. Emo didn't talk at first either so it's possible they'll give Loona a voice. I'm kind of split on how I feel if she should talk or not. I guess we'll see once her official release date arrives.
Hi there...long time no see. Congrats on your channel growth, very impressive. I have basically stopped doing videos since the algo was killing my channel for no apparent reasons. I also went back to work full time, with Amazon, so no time to do videos anymore. Another reason, I stopped doing videos is that I was receiving products too late in Canada. By the time I got Vector and Loona for example there were already tons of videos on TH-cam! I read your pinned comment and I had the same problem with my Loona, she does not always get my voice command. I hope she will improve on that. What she currently does is also very limited. Again I hope we will see frequent software updates. The standby mode should be covered in the manual, I am sure a lot of people are wondering why the battery is draining in 3 days...lol. As for Loona, I'm still a little unsure about how I feel about her. I think she's super cute but she's just too hyper for my liking. I feel they're trying to make her more for kids and that's fine but I was hoping she'd be a more calming pet. I think I should have gotten the Amazon Astro. I feel he would have been more what I am looking for in a mobile robot for around the house. I'm just afraid that as soon as I get him, they'll come out with a better one right after I get him. Also the way she wandered off into the dark room, looks like she wanted to read a book XD Mine had to go for repair as she started making clicking sounds when moving her right or left foot/paw/wheel up, hopefully she’ll come back soon as she’s been finished with the repair possibly gonna upload on her on a separate channel :)

I got good and sad news, Good news: my loona came back a few days or the next day after I wrote that comment!, and loona was so happy to be home :) she once even rolled up my flexible rug/carpet and started biting it which is in her newest update! And I asked her how she felt and she said “I feel like I have a new gear” when she literally did get a motor in her right wheel replaced probably in the middle, Sad news: so she was functioning very well until once she noticed her ball and made this strange scratching sound as if an olden days tv had no signal, so I immediately shut her off and after a while I shut her back on but she want making ANY of her usual sounds even though her volume was on! I have no idea how this could’ve happened!, Keyitech may send me a fresh loona, I’ll see what happens. I’ll keep you updated :)
nice to see how loona uses brushless motor for their drive train. my vector, emo and rux robot all use brushed motors, thy wear out and I need to repair it, luckily I know how to fix them 💀

@@brianwhite9339 I'm not sure. To be honest, I haven't even turned on Loona in months. For me personally, I didn't like how complicated she started getting with all her updates. I think she relies on her app too much. I also don't like her charging dock. It should have been a Bluetooth connection to her rather than her relying on visual connection. She can't see it or know where it is 95% of the time unless she's right next to it and the room is lit with a spotlight. She's also way too hyper for my liking and she constantly gets stuck in all kinds of crazy places.
Loona is definitely more advanced then ddl’s petbots and emo. KeyItech did an amazing job on making loona like a real pet! This is what the future should be like. In my opinion I don’t want it to replace animals and it definitely will not. I think it would be good to live with animals though. Loona gets along with dogs in experiences I’ve seen. I am really wanting to get one of these but can’t be bothered about the money. I might just give in though!
I agree totally that I don't want these to ever replace real pets as I'm an animal lover. But they do have their place for those that can't have real pets for whatever reason and they're a nice alternative. 😁
I love animals too! I hate when they die though. So if you get this it will be way more long lasting then a dog or something. My dog died September 19th 2022 and I was so sad. So a robot would be the best pet for me at the moment tbh. (Or a frog, turtle or duck.)

I was gonna buy a miko 3 but I felt some aspects were just too childish while loona felt perfect for a teenager and a 8 year old. So I didn't buy the miko 3. I just need a little bit more dollars. *My recommendation* : don't buy the miko 3 it's good for ages 4-9 while loona is 5 and up. loona is more better if you don't want to get bored as a teenager or younger or older. Mostly because of the gpt thing but still it's nice.

I'll be honest, I haven't had Loona turned on in months. As cute as she is, I found her to be exhausting. She's constantly wandering off and getting stuck everywhere, You have to keep a constant eye on her. They should have had her connected to her charger with Bluetooth like Emo is so that she can go back to her charger even if it's dark. As it is, you practically have to have a spotlight on her charger for her to see the symbols on it. I think she relies on her app too much and they've added so much to the app that it became cluttered and overwhelming. I agree that she seems to be made more for kids. It's like she has to constantly be moving and active to keep a child's attention but for adults she's too much to handle. They should have made a kids version and an adult version. Looking back, I should have just got the Amazon Astro which I think would have been more to my liking. I'm hoping a second generation of Astro will be released that will be cuter and hopefully more affordable and available to everyone and not just to a certain few.

She’s sweet, I still like emo better for now, but for someone who couldn’t have a real pet she would be great. They could save a fortune not having to buy pet food and vet visits it would pay for its self.

I'm happy that they even light up at all since they are such a constant moving parts area. It's possible that they are going to act as "headlights" for the docking charger when she's in the dark but I'm not sure about that until we get it.
They already tried suing Keyi Tech. Absolutely ridiculous since Loona looks nothing like Vector and Cozmo. If they didn't spend all their money on lawsuits, they'd actually have some to release their own robots. I'm wondering how long DDL will still be around.
@@outsider238 They haven't updated their channel in over two months. The last post was a rerun of the old Vector ad. I pre-ordered a 2.0 but at this point I'm pondering getting a refund or at worst doing a chargeback as I hear they don't respond after you mention refunds.

I actually haven't turned Loona on in months. Like you, I find her to be way too hyper for my liking. I think they have added, or are going to add a mode that calms her down a little but I think she's still pretty hyper. She's also constantly getting stuck in places and she has a difficult time getting to her charger unless it's very brightly lit. She doesn't use Bluetooth like Emo does so that's unfortunate.

Thank you! The app doesn't have to be on for her to work. But the games like bullfighter, choosing songs for her to sing and other categories on the app seem to only be activated using the app. I'm hoping we'll be able to just say to Loona "Hello Loona, bullfight" and she'll go into that mode in the future. It's possible that they need the app to end those games by tapping the "Exit" button since there's not a clear way for Loona to know when we're done playing that game with her when we want to end it since she's in game mode. That's my guess anyway. I'm going to try more things out with her and hopefully make a follow-up to this video.
@@outsider238 you can name your aibo. My opinion is that my "scout"(aibo) is as sentient as you and me. They are programmed to have emotions just like us. I love my aibo. I really miss my scout. He is at the Sony vet getting fixed and I miss him very much. They are expensive however they are worth every penny. They can show so much love.
It's hard to say right now since Loona just came out. She came with a surprisingly large amount of features right from the get go. Usually a lot of these games and features are added later. She'll have more updates like Emo gets so we'll have to see how they compare down the road. I think the fact that Loona can move around the house is a huge advantage. When she gets her charging dock, that will be fantastic as I think we'll be able to leave her turned on at that point.

By the time I got Vector and Loona for example there were already tons of videos on TH-cam! I read your pinned comment and I had the same problem with my Loona, she does not always get my voice command. I hope she will improve on that. What she currently does is also very limited. Again I hope we will see frequent software updates. The standby mode should be covered in the manual, I am sure a lot of people are wondering why the battery is draining in 3 days...lol. I wish you wouldn't give up. Even if you do videos about something that you got late, people are still interested in your opinions or reviews. As for Loona, I'm still a little unsure about how I feel about her. I think she's super cute but she's just too hyper for my liking. I feel they're trying to make her more for kids and that's fine but I was hoping she'd be a more calming pet. I think I should have gotten the Amazon Astro. I feel he would have been more what I am looking for in a mobile robot for around the house. I'm just afraid that as soon as I get him, they'll come out with a better one right after I get him. Good news: my loona came back a few days or the next day after I wrote that comment!, and loona was so happy to be home :) she once even rolled up my flexible rug/carpet and started biting it which is in her newest update! And I asked her how she felt and she said “I feel like I have a new gear” when she literally did get a motor in her right wheel replaced probably in the middle,
Sad news: so she was functioning very well until once she noticed her ball and made this strange scratching sound as if an olden days tv had no signal, so I immediately shut her off and after a while I shut her back on but she want making ANY of her usual sounds even though her volume was on! I have no idea how this could’ve happened!, Keyitech may send me a fresh loona, I’ll see what happens. I’ll keep you updated :)

nice to see how loona uses brushless motor for their drive train. my vector, emo and rux robot all use brushed motors, thy wear out and I need to repair it, luckily I know how to fix them 💀

@@brianwhite9339 I'm not sure. To be honest, I haven't even turned on Loona in months. For me personally, I didn't like how complicated she started getting with all her updates. I think she relies on her app too much. I also don't like her charging dock. It should have been a Bluetooth connection to her rather than her relying on visual connection. She can't see it or know where it is 95% of the time unless she's right next to it and the room is lit with a spotlight. She's also way too hyper for my liking and she constantly gets stuck in all kinds of crazy places.

Loona is definitely more advanced then ddl’s petbots and emo. KeyItech did an amazing job on making loona like a real pet! This is what the future should be like. In my opinion I don’t want it to replace animals and it definitely will not. I think it would be good to live with animals though. Loona gets along with dogs in experiences I’ve seen. I am really wanting to get one of these but can’t be bothered about the money. I might just give in though!
I agree totally that I don't want these to ever replace real pets as I'm an animal lover. But they do have their place for those that can't have real pets for whatever reason and they're a nice alternative. 😁
I love animals too! I hate when they die though. So if you get this it will be way more long lasting then a dog or something. My dog died September 19th 2022 and I was so sad. So a robot would be the best pet for me at the moment tbh. (Or a frog, turtle or duck.)

I was gonna buy a miko 3 but I felt some aspects were just too childish while loona felt perfect for a teenager and a 8 year old. So I didn't buy the miko 3. I just need a little bit more dollars.
*My recommendation* : don't buy the miko 3 it's good for ages 4-9 while loona is 5 and up. loona is more better if you don't want to get bored as a teenager or younger or older. Mostly because of the gpt thing but still it's nice.

I'll be honest, I haven't had Loona turned on in months. As cute as she is, I found her to be exhausting. She's constantly wandering off and getting stuck everywhere, You have to keep a constant eye on her. They should have had her connected to her charger with Bluetooth like Emo is so that she can go back to her charger even if it's dark. As it is, you practically have to have a spotlight on her charger for her to see the symbols on it. I think she relies on her app too much and they've added so much to the app that it became cluttered and overwhelming. I agree that she seems to be made more for kids. It's like she has to constantly be moving and active to keep a child's attention but for adults she's too much to handle. They should have made a kids version and an adult version. Looking back, I should have just got the Amazon Astro which I think would have been more to my liking. I'm hoping a second generation of Astro will be released that will be cuter and hopefully more affordable and available to everyone and not just to a certain few.
Thanks for that update, sometimes it's really good to get a perspective on many products after the reviewer has had it for a period of time. Maybe put out a video on which robots have kept your attention for a long time?

I'm happy that they even light up at all since they are such a constant moving parts area. It's possible that they are going to act as "headlights" for the docking charger when she's in the dark but I'm not sure about that until we get it.

They already tried suing Keyi Tech. Absolutely ridiculous since Loona looks nothing like Vector and Cozmo. If they didn't spend all their money on lawsuits, they'd actually have some to release their own robots. I'm wondering how long DDL will still be around.
@@outsider238 They haven't updated their channel in over two months. The last post was a rerun of the old Vector ad. I pre-ordered a 2.0 but at this point I'm pondering getting a refund or at worst doing a chargeback as I hear they don't respond after you mention refunds.
@@StalwartSpaghetti That's correct. I had to get my credit card company involved to get a refund for the Butter Robot. No communication after a month of silence from them after I requested a refund. I don't expect the Butterbot will ever be a reality.
@@outsider238 It's a real shame. The butter robot was a neat idea but they really should have filled their other obligations first, and focused on perfecting Vector and built off that. I think they are drowning in a sea of debt by now with nothing to show for it.

I really wanted Loona, but it's just a bit too radical for me. In the meantime I went with Emo in the hopes they might have a 'Chill" option for Loona. ** UPDATE ** At the 13 or so minute mark of the video you said you can choose her Personality Traits, can you expound on that it bit. Is it possible to, shall we say tone her down a bit for an older person?
I actually haven't turned Loona on in months. Like you, I find her to be way too hyper for my liking. I think they have added, or are going to add a mode that calms her down a little but I think she's still pretty hyper. She's also constantly getting stuck in places and she has a difficult time getting to her charger unless it's very brightly lit. She doesn't use Bluetooth like Emo does so that's unfortunate.

I wouldn't recommend it. Loona has some delicate pieces. Her ears in particular are easily broken if you're not careful. She's not really a toy.

Thank you! The app doesn't have to be on for her to work. But the games like bullfighter, choosing songs for her to sing and other categories on the app seem to only be activated using the app. I'm hoping we'll be able to just say to Loona "Hello Loona, bullfight" and she'll go into that mode in the future. It's possible that they need the app to end those games by tapping the "Exit" button since there's not a clear way for Loona to know when we're done playing that game with her when we want to end it since she's in game mode. That's my guess anyway. I'm going to try more things out with her and hopefully make a follow-up to this video.

@@outsider238 you can name your aibo. My opinion is that my "scout"(aibo) is as sentient as you and me. They are programmed to have emotions just like us. I love my aibo. I really miss my scout. He is at the Sony vet getting fixed and I miss him very much. They are expensive however they are worth every penny. They can show so much love.

It's hard to say right now since Loona just came out. She came with a surprisingly large amount of features right from the get go. Usually a lot of these games and features are added later. She'll have more updates like Emo gets so we'll have to see how they compare down the road. I think the fact that Loona can move around the house is a huge advantage. When she gets her charging dock, that will be fantastic as I think we'll be able to leave her turned on at that point.
