I'm a 69 year old lady who goes camping at least every other weekend. Been doing that ever since I found out I could get a senior lifetime pass through the COE camping sites. Great discount! I keep all my gear , except food, in my SUV throughout the year. I set everything up by myself because my fur babies don't have thumbs LOL. My friends aren't into camping like me because THEY ARE OLD in spirit LOL 😂.
We have been doing this for years. Using the storage totes just makes it so easy to keep it all together and organized. Make sure you label each tote. Great video!
Thanks! 😊 Awesome yeah this is the best way to go about it for sure. Haha really really helps. Thanks again for the nice comment and thanks for watching! ☺️🤙🏽
Make an inventory checklist. Laminate it and tape it to the inside lid of the box. You can write on it with a white board marker and rub off after. Helps remind to pack whats required and to refill dishwashing liquid, fire starters etc. Cool video
The green propane bottles are "refillable." You can get the adapter to connect them to a 20lbs propane tank (back yard grill style) and then you pay like $20-30 to refill that tank and fill around 20 of the green cans. Saves green cans going in the land fill and you save like $6/bottle in propane cost. I 3D printed some caps that say full and used so i know which of mine are full and haven't looked back :)
@@WhereWeWild biggest thing is putting the empty bottles in the freezer for a bit before filling and record the weight of a new bottle on the bottle, that way when you fill them you know what weight to aim for
Not if they do not specific state on the bottle they are refillable. Manufacturers do make refillable fuel canisters, they cost more but are engineered with thicker walls and bottom to handle the varying pressures of multiple uses. I’ve seen the nonrefillable canisters explode/burst when someone refilled one-it sent shrapnel all over! 😮
Keep the threads/ends covered from moisture as once they rust they'll clog your foamed brass flash back arrestors in your stoves/heaters etc. Good idea on the 3d print caps. I know the brass caps are spendy and the plastic are so-so and always get lost/tossed anyway.
Thanks guys for your videos. I’m 55 and haven’t camped in a loooong time but I’m getting ready to get back into it when the weather warms up and your videos are helping me a lot!! I would love to see a video on keeping the campsite clean while you’re camping, especially those pots and pans after cooking a meal. Thanks and keep up the great work!!
Awesome! 😃 So glad the videos are helping you out and that you are getting back into it! Always so nice to spend some time outdoors if you can. 😊🤙🏽 That’s a good idea maybe we can do a video like that. Thanks again for the nice comment and thank a for watching. 👊🏽😊
Carbon steel is also good for cooking outdoors and is much lighter. Collapsible kettles take up much less space and aren’t very expensive. I like using small canvas zipper bags for holding silverware and other small kitchen items. I’ve managed to get my kitchen kit down to a small square milk-crate with enough for 2, including cleaning items.
I was feeling so disorganized and i normally so organized so this video helped to think how to store itens for camping ty soo much such a game changer ty
I like the small backpack stoves and flat two burner stoves i see everyone using. But im old fashion and use my father in laws two burner white gas stove and my grandfathers old one burner white gas coleman stove. Fire starter, carry some cotton balls and Vaseline
Oh and I upgraded both my percolator and French press to a coleman drip coffee maker that works on the two burner. It's so nice to have. I still pack percolator to use either on one burner or on coals
Just note; the bigger the bin, the more you’ll want to fill up all of that space. Which ends up making the bin very heavy. I would suggest that once you dial in the absolute necessities for a particular bin category; buy a bin that is just big enough for the items to fit. Maybe only slightly larger. Great video! Keep em’ coming.
So funny we were just talking about that! 😃 Great little trick to keep you from overpacking! Then on the other hand, if you’re driving up to a site you don’t really have to carry anything a long way so it’s also nice sometimes to just have that extra space in case you want to bring extra stuff like for a guest or whatever. That’s what’s cool about it also, it’s really just up to the individual to dial it in however it works best for them and their family or for the space they have in their car. 😊🤙🏽 And thanks so much! We really appreciate it! ☺️
Interesting! Hey whatever works for ya is the way to go! 👊🏽😊 Definitely more flexible that’s for sure! The bins are pretty sweet though if you have the space for them. They stack nicely. Super tough and protective. Usually bone dry inside even in the rain. In a pinch we’ve used them as a dining table, a countertop, a place to sit… haha it’s crazy how many things a plastic box can be used for 😂🤙🏽
A lot of times we camp when it’s hot out and it’s nice having our Yetis to keep our drinks cold. Plus the lids keep the bugs out. We use different ones for bowls the 14 ounce mugs with the handle make great bowls for soup or ice cream.
I like a cast iron Dutch oven with the lid you can use as a griddle. Then my skillet I use carbon steel. Same cooking style as cast iron but lighter I also began using the rolling tool chest from Home Depot. You can stack and lock other boxes on top!! Easier to move around with the wheeled version!
In my bin I also put my seasoning, flour and other common cooking components in bin and use a couple milk crates for more dry goods to make stuff with. Not for sure what you do about those things
Nice! 😊 Ahhhh man we should have mentioned that! We just decide on specific meals before a trip and use the extra space in the bin for any dry goods or fresh spices we might need for them. We talked about that in another video actually. Pill dispensers are a cool little way of taking your spices along btw! 😃🤙🏽
ty for your video, its given me a better idea into packing better and easier. we literally have the same tote, backpack stove, kettle and assortment pots, we use them for back country to lighten the load. one thing you might find handy is an adaptor to use your rocket stove on a 1lb tank, the tanks are cheaper and you would only need the one type.
Your strike on matches and small lighters it's best to put them inside of a small plastic Ziploc bags to keep them keeping doing the video the you guys make give good ideas that I can do good job

I just recently found your channel and diving into the camping world. Im starting from scratch and your videos are helping me out so much!! Ive watched quite a couple already! Thank you for all your tips and hacks. Most of the items you have suggested are in my amazon cart already!😂 love the camping and fishing aspect (love fishing myself). As silly as it sounds how do you go about washing your plates/ and utensils while out there? And of course ones self for multi day stays? Thanks again love the Channel and subscribed 😁
Awesome welcome to the channel! So glad the videos are helping you out! 😃 And sweet! Fishing is my passion and a big part of this channel. It’s just the best. 🎣❤️😎🤙🏽 As far as the dishes go while camping, which I’m sorry we didn’t mention in this particular video, but if you look in our Amazon shop (link is in the video description) in the camp kitchen section you will find collapsible wash basins and Dr. Bronner’s soap. That is the best way we have found to wash our dishes out there. Lol sorry to add more items to your Amazon cart 🤦🏻♂️😂 but that works really well as the soap is better for the environment and those collapsible basins save space. 😊 Thanks for the nice comment and for the support we really appreciate you watching. ☺️🤙🏽
No they go in this bin but we don’t leave that in there all the time like the other stuff. We pack it fresh based off of what we are planning on cooking before a trip. 😊
For gloves I use welder’s gloves, they are very easy to slide your hands in and very easy to get off in a hurry should the need arise to get them off quickly.
Hi Ritchie and Jamie, Love this youtube but you mention that you have 3 bins; Kitchen, sleeping and miscellaneous. Can’t find any videos of your other bins and what I would really like is a printable list of each bin - this would be super useful. Thanking you in advance.
Thanks 😊 The other bins are honestly more about what you personally prefer to bring instead of it being as typical and consistent as the kitchen bin is, which mostly consists of things that everyone would probably need. So it’s hard to tell you what you should put in them for your specific sleep system preferences, tent size, number of people or whatever it is if that makes sense. They also change more often depending on the trip where the kitchen bin usually stays the same for the most part. Maybe we will try to show what we have in ours for an example but it honestly may not be as helpful to people personally as the kitchen bin information would be. 😊
I came for the camping gear organization, but ran to the comments to ask where your pullover is from, Jamie! 😂 Super cute! Great video, guys. Thanks for the info!

I'm curious as to why she is handling the big 2 burner stove, and the big cast iron griddle and fry pan (stacked together even!) and then he pulls out just an itty bitty stove top piece? Then she handles the big awkward utensils and he handles 2 much smaller pieces? LOL
Thanks! 👊🏽😊 Hahaha yeah I’m not the biggest fan either, they’re ok but I always pick the normal spoon out of that set! Lol but the Mrs. likes the spork so it works out. 😁🤙🏽
The amount of big clunky utensils right after talking about how small that cutting board is 🤣 a surplus of home size utensils is a big pet peeve of mine..also cutting on flimsy plastic is a big pet peeve of mine so this one has me triggered haha. Just a personal preference
Hahaha hey ya need some utensils unless you like flipping your burgers and pancakes with your hatchet 🤷🏻♂️😎 The cutting board is really sweet actually too, super easy to clean and it’s not flimsy at all because it’s on whatever hard surface you lay it on. 😊🤙🏽
@WhereWeWild I use the parchment to wrap my dinners in. I make little packets. Individual meals. And then 2 layers of HD foil. I can cook the meal in the coals, on the grate sort of offset from the flames, or even inside the Dutch oven. The parchment paper keeps the food moist, wayyyyyy less sticking to the inside of the foil, easier clean up. Sometimes I cut the packet open down the middle (like a foil wrapped baked potato) eat right put of the packet. Bonus is the parchment paper will burn pretty easily after dinner and the foil can be recycled because it doesn't have chunks of my meal stuck to or burned on it.
Hahaha yeah unfortunately that is a common misconception from some viewers who just recently found our channel and have only watched a couple camping educational videos of ours. I definitely do take on more of the talking responsibilities on this channel but that’s by our design and she appreciates it. She can talk as much as she wants. ❤️☺️

Gear tie
Hahaha yeah pretty much 😁🤙🏽
Parchment paper.
What do you use it for? 😊
@brendabloom3535 Nice 😊🤙🏽
Baby wipes
you should Marry her she's a keeper for sure
Shure don't let Jamie talk much.🤔
Hahaha yeah unfortunately that is a common misconception from some viewers who just recently found our channel and have only watched a couple camping educational videos of ours. I definitely do take on more of the talking responsibilities on this channel but that’s by our design and she appreciates it. She can talk as much as she wants. ❤️☺️
Also, there are some people who are more comfortable in front of the camera than others. Don’t judge a book by its cover!
