I am new to fishing the rivers/tribs, and by new I mean I suck ha ha, getting tangled in trees and snagged every 2 seconds, it just hasn't been my grind. I'll put these tips and tricks to good use out there and hopefully improve. Thanks and tight lines! 👊🤙

    Great instructional video-glad to see you sharing your knowledge with young anglers. An alternative to treble hooks is siwash hooks with the open eye. You can actually put them on the closed end of the wire shaft, pinch them closed with pliers and build the spinner in the opposite direction of how you did it. I’m just not a fan of the trebles for catch and release. Great job, though.

      Insert anything in that space ( i.e. stealing your gear, car, running their sled through your ice shack, shooting at you, stealing a kids Halloween bucket, catching over 300 lbs of walleye in a day and keeping them, throwing a 5 yr. old kid over the balcony at Mall of America, ad infinitum).

    If you catch and release, you can increase the life expectancy of the fish if you have it out of the water a maximum of 10 seconds. Pull the fish out of the water, show the camera, back in the water. On the other hand, browns are one of the best tasting trout species out there.

    Dump the Gamagatsu's, Owner cutting point trebele's are by far better.

    • @wibigfishcom
      @wibigfishcom  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jody Basham nope they break easier than a Gamakatsu that’s a fact and the gamakatsu 2x is the strongest treble. Go fish salt water for a month then you’ll see why. Every year the past 10 years we fish salt water a month and I replace all my hooks with the strongest sharpest hooks and I’ve tried Owner and they are solid but they break due to alloy in the hooks is brittle. Still a solid hook but not as good as a gamakatsu

  • @blakefollett
    @blakefollett 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you are drifting a bead with the hook 2-3 inches below bead, then I'm sorry you are flossing fish. Especially if you are site casting to them, and trying to drift in the face. The big hen at 28 min, looked to be flossed. Hook was in outside of mouth. I can't prove it, but seems "fishy".

    • @wibigfishcom
      @wibigfishcom  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you actually watch the video you can clearly see the fish has gone out of its way several times to eat the bead. Watch closely you can see it’s mouth open up and clearly see her eat the bead. I could have lined 20 fish this day but choose to leave fish that were not interested in eating. Don’t hate bro I don’t line them or floss them, yea years ago when I was a kid I used to but it’s way more challenging and fun getting them to eat!

    • @lovesskiingpow
      @lovesskiingpow 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Blake Follett I don’t believe it’s flossing if the fish actively hits the presentation opposed to having the line dragged through its mouth. I think most steelhead fisherman would agree that most bead fish are hooked outside the mouth. It’s just the way it is. If he was ripping the hook through the water at the end of every drift, I’d agree with you 100%

    Please tell me you’re wetting your hands before you touch the fish they’re delicate if you don’t wet your hands you’re pretty much killing the fish along with that net which also damages the fish there’s a lot of mishandling going on here you’re not setting a good example for other trout/salmon fishermen...🤦🏽‍♂️

    Isn’t it alarming that you said what you said about non native fish? The fact that you are fishing, solely on stocked fish is because of what these folks are preaching about, but they’re too late! Water quality and or fishing is why you’re, unfortunately, stating that in your video. Can you please start talking about water quality and native ecosystems that we are destroying? It might be good for both you and your audience…
