I was Some_Demon in that battle, my mistake was sending my friend (Astriavalentine) to fight you while I kept going for the La-7, he isn't exactly good at aircraft in ARB, he's more of a ground guy in his aircraft, sticking with him may have been the better idea once I realized A) The La-7 was just kiting us, and B) the P-38 pilot was you. Though I was trying to make sure that La-7 wouldn't come around behind us, all in all GG and we could have made better choices.

that was me in the spit in the intro. the second he killed me i knew i'd get posterized in one of these videos lol. i had all the advantages and still lost a dogfight, in a spit, with altitude and element of surprise, to a p38 on the deck. lessons were learned that day for sure! dude is the real deal.

This video clearly displays why the P38L should be 3.0 , Yes you got a lucky 8 kill game but I got beat by a Spitfire MKIIB in this thing . Maybe the Spitfire MKIIB is too low for its br.
You only killed that spitfire clipped wing because the P38L has longer wings meaning it can turn better. If that was the spitfire MKIIB u were dead
Maybe not as low as 3.0 but definitely 3.3, yeah. This was supposed to be the best turn fighter of the war. Even a zero couldn't keep up with it. USA suffers.

Another awesome video. You really make it so easy to just stall out planes. I am getting better but long way to go. Hate that I have to manually put keyboard inputs to do full elevator turns. I absolutely despise the clipped wing spitfires, just one turn and you are basically out of energy.

Had about a dozen games this week similar to this where, after clearing out all the fighters, there's always just one bomber trying to hide in the corner of the map thinking that he'd bled enough of our tickets. They just sit there and watch us bleed them dry over and over. I just don't understand how bomber pilots think.

the best ting about this plane is that more often than not you are DOWNTIERED. with boosted ailerons and airbrake its almost difficult to not do good.

I’m not super good but I still managed an 8 kill game with the American first P38. Quite a beautiful plane I really enjoy flying. I kinda hate using 50. Cals so that one 20mm really improves this plane. I’m kinda used to the German 20s and 30s. I’m completely through the German plane tree and unlocked the A4 Skyhawk today for the americans

just thought about that and it's pretty niche but here goes : would you consider adding / using a keyboard display for your videos? This would help and show when and how exactly you use the keyboard controls compared to mouse. I'm thinking about this based on a WoWs youtuber, Toptier, who has that for his CV games. This is probably not worth the hassle but eh, nothing ventured nothing gained :)

Hey DEFYN, how do you judge enemy speeds? I know it's basic question, and I'm a fairly experienced ARB player, and I can eyeball energy states fairly well but I can't judge actual speeds of enemies. I know there's wing stall trail, idk what it's called but I'd love to know how you can do a accurate enough estimate on enemy speeds, I've seen you comment on that quite a few times.

Those wing trails are called vortices. However, you won't always be able to see them clearly.
You have to judge climbing spirals on a case-by-case basis. The idea is generally the same, but different parameters can make actual execution really tricky. How you can safely execute one depends on the planes' climbing abilities at various altitudes, enemies' aiming skill, current energy states, speed dump in turns, whether there's someone who can third party you, among other things. Generally, you can attack more aggressively with a significant speed and positioning (altitude) advantage over the enemies. Also, it's not ideal to stall out completely because it makes you vulnerable to sniping. For the most part, it's a matter of building up pilot skill and prudent judgement.
its about looking at your own speed, your angle and then looking at how much the numbers change
after a while it's what delantho says, its just an estimated guess.
If i ever duel someone i constantly try to guess their speeds and they will say i am too high or low, after a while you can narrow it down pretty accurately.

You should try out the Re.2005 after they fixed it and has realistically FM, so it doesn't shits on the P-51Hs anymore. :D Honestly, it's a lot more enjoyable right now. ^^

hey defyn, i just recently discovered you on your energy fighting tutorials, and i already knew youre an absolute professional. i wanna ask, do you have tips for slow climbing fighters like griffon spits or p47s? side climbing doesnt seem to work for me. everytime i do that, i either get jumped by one of the fast climbing enemy fighters, arrive late in the fight, or have everybody already dive so low by the time i get to altitude, that its a massive waste of energy to try and chase them down, or they get to the airfield before i get to them. thanks in advance!
Climb just a little to the enemies side not the side of the af works for me . Once you see the enemy directly on your ledt or right turn towards them and climb

I have a question- I’m still new in WT playing 3 months now- which is better: grinding all nations planes tier by tier and so learn the performance of all planes - or to grind only certain nations with planes of a similar fighting style to become more proficient at type of fighting style? Which would make me better pilot?
Best way is to fly a little bit of everything so you know what you are fighting.
I'd suggest the main nations like: US, Germany, USSR
Britain, italy and japan aren't AS important because you fight them more or less the same way until jets.

I didn't know the p38s where thar capable, I didn't have good first experiences with them so I left them to rust, but I might have to look at them againg...
Theyre quite insane with the right know-how, they can out run most planes and fall back on energy fighting and turn fighting with good flap management. Also the interceptor spawn is just dirty. only downside is getting hit at all is almost certain death and they get the early war .50 belts.
Hey Defyn does all clip wing planes loses energy when turning or is it only the clip spit that you fight at the start?
Clipped wings do lose more speed in general
But it depends a bit on the plane
The spitfire as well as the clipped griffon premium suffer from it noticeably

I think the J15 P38 performs better at 4.3 than the LO at 4.7. LO gets dragged up to 5.7 often, where it faces so many nasty axis planes.
the L is actually identical to the J, it just has added weight of the dive recovery flaps and hydraulic aileron boosters
