I know it's pretty much a pipe dream, but I still hope Nintendo makes one. I never use my Switch handheld, but the handheld features cause me so many annoyances. Like forgetting to have it charged before going to play, because it won't power on even in the dock if the battery is dead or too low. Or Nintendo not bothering to let you power off the system from the controller, because they completely forgot to consider somebody playing docked. They'd surely have to remember if there was no portable version... Right?
@@mjc0961 I know what you mean. I usually don't play handheld either. If Nintendo doesn't make one, I'm sure a company like this will, though I imagine it'll involve some modding (soldering) to power off via controller and do away with the battery.
To power off a switch using only a controller press and hold the home button for 3 seconds and then press A on "sleep" It's literally a day one feature how have you lived without this?

I’m watching this 12days after release and if the shell were available now I would totally buy it in a heartbeat. I swapped my lite for a white shell from Amazon and it almost instantly started getting stained from the ninendo magnetic case! Needless to say I’m ready for something a little more premium. I’ll be watching out for your store!
Here am I, not owning a Switch (and, if so, I'd'nt've had a Lite), watching every second of the best tutorial for a great mod I’ll never do myself just for the stunning video and result quality. 👏 TH-cam suggested me some of your videos randomly a while ago, and I HAD to subscribe. Great to see the ever improving content of the channel.
Honestly the A15 Bionic chip in the Switch with 4x the Cpu performance and 2x the Gpu performance would be awsome, and 5nm vs 16nm would give it great battery along with the 11w lower wattage you can also dock a iPad to a Tv makes it compatible with the Switch plus you can even get 6gb of ram out of it!

Can the bottom opening for the antenna be filled in like the top with resin part of the way to still have a spot to transfer over your serial number sticker? Also instead of having the back panel plain, since you'll be selling it in your store, I think it would be cool having the Macho Nacho logo where the Switch logo would normally go. I also noticed at 20:40 that the screen isn't sitting flush with the shell and sticks out. Or is that a screen protector?
Great observations! Yes, there is a screen protector on the the screen which is why it sticks out a little, otherwise is is completely flush. I was thinking of putting a logo but I wanted to keep it clean to appeal to most people. The reason for not having plastic on the bottom is I think to maximize the signal. I may be doing a live stream with the shell to answer more questions. Stay tuned 👍

Someone else probably mentioned it but I can see another flaw which is, colourful switch lite like, pink or blue won't look as neat as this dark one once modded (I think the best candidate for this shell swap might be the last Pokémon edition) since all the parts and bezel will be the same colour as the switch. That's too bad and definitely not this mod's fault, just the way the switch lite is made. Still cool and satisfying video to watch as always, thanks for the great content !
Will you possibly be doing a metal GBA SP? I understand that’s a big undertaking but an all metal hinged gba sp with aluminum buttons would be so cool!

Oh man I'm so buying a couple stickers. This would be a mod that I would tackle if I played the Switch lite. One thing that I would be worried about is any pitting that can occur when the oils from your skin react with the aluminum.
Thanks Super Nicktendo! No need to worry about pitting or corrosion since it’s made of aluminum and it’s been anodized. It’s very resilient. Apple uses a similar method on their MacBooks and other devices.

Pretty cool, but it would be nice if they were made to fit over the existing Switch case, which would of course work better with the Lite model. I bought a couple for the 3DS, and they were actually very nice, fit very well for an aftermarket product, and were only $5 ea. I also like the Hori clear silicone skins since they protect and provide grip.
On a side note what's the ETA on a Thicc-boi Switch Lite?? Add a couple of millimeters to the thickness on the back and you can probably fit a 10000mAh battery. I know you want to add wireless charging to this!

I would do this in a heartbeat IF I could switch out the LCD for an OLED. I have a switch light I don't use anymore because I was only using it in handheld and my gen 1 switch on my TV, but now that I have the OLED I just use that for both
I don't care that much about modding my switch lite for a metal case. My baja blast edition is fine as it looks now, but I do hope to see an OLED screen mod for the lite at some point. The factory display is weak.

Looks great, my one curiosity is how the cooling is. Does the back of the shell make contact to help dissipate the heat? If not I imagine some thermal pads between the back shell and the heat spreader would help keep things cool. I imagine it would just help prolong the system/battery life.
Yes, I added thermal pads to my original switch aluminum shell. It’s hard to tell definitively if it help dissipate heat but I like to think it does. You should check out my other video 😁

I’m not 100% sure, but if the mod chip works with a regular shell I’m sure this should work also.
