why don't people invent a robot pageturner already? that's what we actually need.
Cause if the pianist messes up a little and ends up being late or early, the robot will turn the page anyway. Plus we need jobs
Yes that is what we neeeeed!
Cuz they might mess up big time and throw the pages everywhere
Psalm “You didnt change my batteries? Take that!”
There are pedals to turn pages in an iPad. I use one actually and it’s perfect.
This is actually so instructive about REAL conductors and what they do.
It shows the importance of a conductor
One of the biggest roles of the conductor is to show the intent of the music and the composer through gestures. A robot can not so intent, that is where these struggle to truly do what a real conductor can do.
It’s sad 987 people didn’t know what conductors do.
It shows also that orchestras can play without conductors 🙃
@@williamandres1042 anyone can count and play the music with dynamics and emotion by themselves , however when 30 + people play the music changes, if you have stronger players or weaker players more instruments that another, it all changes the music, the conductor specifically changes the music to make up for this and to make the music sound right. So without the conductors the music is not right.
conductors dont only use their hands, their facial expressions and body movements help guide musicians as well. robots can never replace conductors
I'm just imagining them creating a robot that makes weird faces and gestures at the orchestra while conducting. The prospect seems simultaneously hilarious and horrifying.
Detroit - Become Human ... I've reecently started it... really makes you think about all that shit happening
So true! When sometimes conductors conduct only with their facial expressions just for fun, and it works as well!

Poor Bocelli
@Miwi R Bocelli may not be the greatest tenor out there, but being blind, his ability to listen to phrasing is his lifeline that allows him to perform.
Because of the lack of a competent conductor, his phrasing and rhythm is all over the place!
You should have a good enough sense of rhythm anyway. Plus if you’re blind you can’t see the conductor
Well, you can see that Bocelli is laughing at minute 9:29 probably because the orchestra is a mess and so out of time!
That second conductor looks like it should be somebody’s sleep paralysis demon.

In before fully automated musicians become a thing and auto-generated music becomes a thing
Hi
Ai generated music is already a thing, and it's better than this.
It is already a thing
@gJb 1 ... I don't think something that requires as much creativity as music can ever be automated at a high quality level. But to claim "most" technology after the industrial revolution didn't improve our world and didn't benefit our society is just objectively false. Sorry but you sound like a boomer in denial of all modern technology.
@gJb 1 Ok, so 16 years old. Listen: your claim is objectively wrong, period. You must know zero history to claim that humans had a higher quality of life in the times of the industrial revolution. Do you know what humans had in the early 1800s? _Poverty, famine, disease and war._ Want to know what they didn't have? _Basic human rights._
Let's imagine you were born in 1800 during the industrial revolution, and speculate what a "happy" and "high quality" life you'd have. There was a 44% chance you'd die before your 5th birthday. Managed to beat the odds and survive to teenage years? Ok then, the most important question is, were you born into a rich family? If the answer is no - forget about music, forget about hobbies, forget about education. By 16, you'd already be working your back off at some factory, making barely enough money to live on. You'd be constantly hungry, cold, sick and poor. You'd be at considerable risk of dying in your early 20s either in childbirth (if female) or in war (if male). If you managed to survive these challenges too, wow, tough accomplishment, cool. Then you might have around 7-8 children, 3-4 of whom would die before you, leaving you to endure that grief for the rest of your life. It wouldn't be a long life though. You'd be expected to die between 30-40 years of age, having spent the majority of your life in misery.
Did you know that Bach once returned from a 2 month journey to find his wife had suddenly died and was already buried? Imagine the pain of that. That's what led him to write his famous Chaconne. And here you are, so privileged that your loved ones are only one phone call away, trying to convince us that people were happier back then. I don't know who told you such a distorted version of human history, but they were completely mistaken. You have a lot to learn before you can give life lessons. It was extremely rude to insinuate that I've never suffered in my life. Funny too, considering I'm older than you and you know nothing of what I went through. But you're still a kid so I'll give it a pass.
The "progress and development" you mock is demonstrably and undeniably real, documented in history and statistics. The world is still a very sad place, but the average quality of human life is higher than ever before. Society has progressed as a whole, that's why you have rights as a citizen and you're allowed to choose how to live your own life today. It's the reason you're able to write these comments from the warmth and safety of your room, on your expensive high-tech smartphone or laptop, which quite literally puts the entire world at your fingertips, lifetimes of knowledge only one click away. So before you derail a conversation to serious topics again, please do your research. Critical thinking requires more than absorbing and repeating the opinions of people around you.
I think it’s futile to try to replace real artists with robots. It could be possible in the near future to automate science and research (already happening), but the arts are unique to humans. Idk maybe someday.
Edit: damn these likes, I’m glad I can see eye to eye with you all though!
The fact that us as humans can create what no other living thing so far can create is amazing. If people are just trying to automate that, they're kind of ruining one of the purposes of art.Why paint something to express yourself when millions of paintings are being made everyday with technology, why learn to master composition, when an AI can do it itself. It just seems dumb to me.
Arts are unique to living things*

For anyone wondering, the piece played by the first orchestra is called "The Impossible Dream".
It's a song from a Broadway musical, "The Man of The Mancha", created in 1965 and inspired by the 17th-century novel "Don Quixote". Since then, it has been translated and sung in many other countries around the world (I absolutely love the French version by Jacques Brel).

What is the best part of being a conductor?
@@sneha1469 destroying musicians with fax and lojik
Yeah, it's kinda sad that none of them were even convincing. I guess the conductor who taught the programmers weren't clear enough on how it should be done, don't you think? Since supposedly the Yumi the robot learned how to conduct from a maestro in a couple of days. Excerpt from the ABB news article on this event: new.abb.com/news/detail/2069/yumi-taking-the-stage
"YuMi’s performance was developed in two steps. In rehearsals, Colombini’s movement were captured with a process called “lead-through programming,” where the robot’s two arms are guided to follow the motions with great attention to detail; these movements were then recorded. The second step involved fine-tuning the movements in ABB’s RobotStudio software, where the motions were synchronized to the music. ....
While this performance gives an inspiring peek at the future, it is unlikely robots will ever prove capable of combining the scholarship, artistry, technique, interpretation and charisma of a skilled human conductor."
Can you maybe elaborate more on which parts of the video you found uhh iNteReStiNg? Since Brett and Eddy already showed their part of reactions as a orchestra musician, maybe you'd notice something different.
