"Nature has a way sometimes of reminding Man of just how small he is. She occasionally throws up terrible offspring's of our pride and carelessness to remind us of how puny we really are in the face of a tornado, an earthquake, or a Godzilla. The reckless ambitions of Man are often dwarfed by their dangerous consequences. For now, Godzilla - that strangely innocent and tragic monster - has gone to earth. Whether he returns or not, or is never again seen by human eyes, the things he has taught us remain..." -Raymond Burr (Godzilla 1985)
I like Godzilla is anti-hero because it is what Godzilla to me. My is Ian Cassidy. I will be a senior this year. I will be a movie director, when I have a job.
This scene makes me cry every time. The makers of this movie did a fantastic job with the human stories, they made Godzilla look magnificent and had him acting so. I also liked how they brought out that he can be hurt and how they moved me to hurt for him. They showed him being a true anti-hero and yet showed some moments that had me thinking that Godzilla does notice us and is not purposely out to harm us, but does not care for or about us-an interpretation I am fine with rather than the terrifying one Toho seems to want to portray in recent movies. Yes, he can be terrifying and sometimes be angry enough to want to harm us and do so, but he also has a side of him that can go after what he needs to-food, defending his territory without meaning to cause us harm. There is nothing wrong with showing this side and I like it being shown more. This movie brought out this side of him and I loved it. I do acknowledge that his destructive and terrifying side does need to be shown from time to time but I'm not a fan of movies that have him being that the whole movie. I hope Legendary/Warner Bro. future Godzilla movies show both sides of him in some movies.
TheRivrPrncess I agree with you and I will be movie director, when I have a job. I like Godzilla portrayed as destructive force of nature and anti-hero in the Heisei series and Millennium series. I was possibly inspired by Godzilla, as we both have a common. Godzilla will fight King Kong in 2020. However, Godzilla and King Kong don't belong together at all.
