"Doors" imply that there are ways to enter, but only through specific entry points. Doors can be open or closed, and if judged necessary, locked. I was 10 years old when he was elected, and even into my teen years during his second term I was not focused on politics. Those started long before, in the 70s, when he had nothing to do with it. Reagan undoubtedly made many mistakes, but on a global scale he was wildly successful.

I had forgotten what a President that actually cared about the people was like. Even if you did not like him, you respected him. I was 10 years old when he was elected, and even into my teen years during his second term I was not focused on politics. I cared more about my skateboard than anything, and I do not apologize for that. Looking back, Reagan was the real deal; he was not perfect, but stood for most things I hold true today. The point is, I grew up, just like when he said he was a Democrat until he grew up. That let me know that everyone can realize whats right. I think we are all more liberal when we are young, but mainly because we don't really understand how the system works works.
