After taking a sabbatical from TH-cam for a while, I started to really miss this channel lol! I am glad to be back, mainly because of this channel alone
My wife, the Bible geek in the family, loves the premium Bibles. They're all out of our price range, but it's nice to dream! She sends her thanks for the great review, loves your channel and noticed that your church is near a Waffle House in one of your videos. A good sign for sure!
Great job here! I was just asking myself last night how it would compare to a PSQ, I love the look of that Wellington leather, but still not convinced to pull the trigger at that price point for an esv right now. Thanks for the review.
I really like the blind stamping and the unassuming look of the Wellington leather. Very discrete and classy. I wish they offered the goatskin leather with blind stamping, that would be perfect.
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews sorry Tim 😆 they just don't compare. Crossway has no competition when it comes to readability in most formats. The only exception being the Quentel over the Omega. Alpha/Thinline is best in class for smaller EDC bibles. The Heritage is the ultimate personal size. And the Wide Margin Reference is the greatest wide margin bible.
@@kriskoletar9500 I just don't think it comes close to the Alpha in terms of readability. I love the NKJV with all of my heart but I find the TN editions totally lacking in comparison to Crossway
Clarion has more references, but it’s way thicker. Really depends on what you want in options. Alpha only has a few notes, but it’s compact and thin. Font seems about the same-ish.
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews thank you for always responding! I also wanted you to asked if purchasing a smith sewn edge lined esv personal study Bible would hold together if it’s genuine leather. I ask because it’s the finest leather on the market for personal size
I don’t think any of the genuine leather ones are edgelined. They have vinyl paste down liners. However; the brown Cowhide one is. That’s the one that I use.
Seems kind of unfair to say the PSQ isn't quite double the thickness when it's barely thicker, but completely miss that the pitt is actually almost half the thickness. Goatskin does seem better than the wellington

That’s a nice bible, Tim. Pretty impressive! I really like your quick, concise style when you do your reviews, too 😀

Yep! We are also near an IHOP!
Just pulled the trigger on the Black Goatskin Alpha due to Crossway's 50% sale on Premiums. The free shipping is icing on the cake.
Love the small Premium Bible comparisons. Thanks Tim. 👏

It would be really interesting to see black goatksin blind stamped. But I don’t think you’d be able to see it.
Thanks Tim! I agree, Crossway's goatskin is awesome and breaks in very well compared to other versions.
Best review of the Alpha
Awesome review as usual.
Wouldn't be more similar to a thinline than Omega because it doesn't have cross-references ?
I was speaking purely from a layout perspective. Would you find it surprising that I’ve never actually seen the thinline? I need to change that!
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews Shocked :o :o You sure do need to change that !! I personally like it more than the Omega :)
ESV fans are so spoiled! If only the NKJV had editions as beautiful as these
Have you seen some of the NKJV compacts? Dude…they have a couple awesome ones! But…I do like the larger font in this one.

Totally expected Nickels to come at you with the NKJV Maclaren blue letter. That thing is fantastic.
Compact is the only option for this conversation.

What would be a good travel case for the alpha? It’s too big for the small size and too small for the next size up.
Goodness. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a case that small before.
Great review. Nice Bible but the price….. wow
Using the free Crossway+ membership takes it down 30 percent. It’s not as bad then.
Do you like the Alpha better than the Clarion? I’m debating on which to buy 🤓🤔

Does this have wrinkles in the gutter like other crossway compacts?
No. This is Royal Jongbloed bound. This is a different level.
Is the Alpha's text line-matched?
I believe so. I’ll double check tomorrow.
Does the Alpha have the same pagination as the Omega?
It is not.

Goatskin does seem better than the wellington
It’s quite a bit thicker.
