This video is a public service. Been using a CPAP since 2005, and I'm *very* particular about my mask (F&P's Pilairio Q). I was about to click "proceed to checkout" on my cart that included an AirMini to be my travel/backup CPAP, but then I noticed the proprietary connection. I was about to abandon my cart, but then I thought to google around to see if there was a workaround. And then I found this video. The website I was on also carried the Zephair connecter adapter, so I added that to my cart and just completed the purchase about 10 minutes ago. Thanks mate!
@@cyrannodbI’ve read that the Airmini is very loud. Do you believe this is true? I’m also searching to see what I should purchase for my travel machine.
@@LisaNix2 it's louder than the regular model, since it doesn't have any of the physical noise suppression elements in order to make it travel sized. I personally don't find it excessively loud, but I also am not easily bothered by noise, so I might be the best person to ask. 😁
I just bought this machine last month, I have the mini nasal mask that just fits in your nose, with the built-in humidifier...best machine I've had, easy to carry, got the battery with it good for 2 nights so I can go camping, and use the car charger on the way home or wall charger when staying at a hotel or someone's home ...
The "proprietary" part that the poster cut is supposed to accept the humidifier packs. The mini doesn't have an integral humidifier like the bigger machines... so you lose that feature when removing that part.
The humidifier packs don't even come close to an actual humidifier chamber. More of a gimmick and a way for them to try and get people to buy ResMed masks. When I travel I use the mask I want to use and go without the joke of the humidifier packs.
Another thing you can do if you get the Medlock adapter and have an F20 full face mask is use the Resmed HumidX F20 HME filters. That would be a full face mask with humidification that's quieter than the standard air mini masks with a quick disconnect.
Lifesaver for yet another reason. Just found your site. That Medlock Magnetic Adapter seems like the solution to my regular hose deteriorating at the connection (I guess from all the twisting & bending over the years). I previously duct-taped the hose where it tore but gave up & bought a new hose. My current hose is about to spring a leak and I'm chuffed that I can cut off the thin, worn part and use the Medlock to repair it. Just one other comment - pls answer all questions. It's far better to get an "I don't know" rather than be ignored. You've got a great site, so do the right thing and not be like so many other posters.
I bought this device and was having a rough time with the CO2 exhalation noise using a Dreamwear/F30i mask with the Zephair adapter. I was ready to get rid of it as I can’t do frontal support masks but as a last ditch, I tried the Breas Qlite muffler. GAME CHANGER! my ahi hasn’t changed, I may ramp up my pressure a bit but I’m very pleased and haven’t used my Dreamstation 2 in a while…..
I used the wessle to remove the foam on my dreamstation. It's only a tiny bit louder. Going to try it for the 1st time tonight. Woo-hoo, no snori. I'm so excited.
I like this for a different reason. I"ve got a Z1 machine and I use an N20 mask. In the past when I wanted to use the airmini hose with the Humidx I had to cut and seal a connector from an old hose to connect the airmini tube to my Z1. that little magnetic connector will make it easier! Thanks!
My solution to the noisy humidX chamber was to remove the humidX filter first then remove the chamber from the hose. After that I let running watter flow from the cap side of the chamber for 10 seconds to let the foam settle into the holes. I then assembled it again without the humidX and let the machine run with my hand plugging the nose/mouthpiece. The foam then completely settles into those small holes below the chamber. Voila, no more noise. Added thing, never spray lysol on your humidx chamber. It seems to melt that foam I was talking about.
man, how long I've been looking for such an adapter....Swift FX fan here and have been buying new old stock for some time. Just bought one. International shipping costs a fortune though. But it'll be worth it. Now I just need some company to ship me a battery....thx for that video!
Interesting, however you don´t need to cut the tube, the little lip inside the Redmed connector fits on the standard cpap connector. I use it all the time like this and it has never failed.
I just bought an AirMini with battery to take on long flights and to use on the trip. I'm surprised to learn about the mask noise it makes. I've read about some people talk about collapsable hose and or muffler to quiet it down. ResMed says the noise is a common complaint and they don't have any info on what if anything helps with it. I'd love to hear about a noise test with these type devices and find if anything actually helps. I'd expect you probably have most of these items and testing would be easy and a popular video with all mini owners. I'm thinking I should have picked up a used Resmed S9 and traveled without the humidifier part. Thx for all your videos.
Dear Uncle Nikko I am going to try this with the new Bleep set up. Ill send you gthe bill if i need to replace it. Of course I am kidding. Appreciate you !
Do you know if the airmini tubing is the same diameter as their regular tubing? Their website says its thinner and more flexible, but I don't know if that means the diameter is smaller. When I use my regular tubing from my regular size resmed cpap with the mini, I can hear the air going through the tubing right next to my earSounds like Darth Vader. I use Resmed nasal pillows, so the tubing comes up to the top of my head.
Thanks for the vid! Any chance you know of a way to connect tubing besides the magnets? I love the thread idea, just would love to not have the extra weight. It can be a permanent solution, rather than magnetic. Thank you
Just got this machine and had an awful experience while traveling. I use the ResMed 10 with the Philips dreamware mask and it’s great for home use. How can I make up something using the mini and the dreamware mask while keeping the humidity disc setup/noise level down?
Love the hack - but I need the Humidx module. Can you insert the medlock above the humidx module? Visually the diameter of the hoses seem compatible. It would definitely make the hose from the face longer before the Humidx module, but wasn't sure if the added length would effect the Humidx efficiency.
great video ! thanks. Question if I may. I have just bought the AirMini and my fav mask currently is the N30i. how best to use it but also have the HumidX inline ???
Hey legend, you can't use the N30i with HumidX as for HumidX to work it needs to be near your mouth and the N30i connects at the top of the head. Cheers mate
You can also use a DreamWear mask with the N20 adaptor and keep the HumidX by fitting the N20 elbow inside the DreamWear quick release fitting. The problem though with using the AirMini with some masks, specifically the DreamWear, is the AirMini is bloody noisy compared to an AirSense 10 and it's super distracting when trying to get to sleep.
when u say adaptor u mean connector right? and n20 elbow then to the quick release of the dreamwear mask but i dnt see how it goes on to the quick release from the elbow????
Hello. 😊 My question: What if I want to use that specific Airfit P10 mask with the HME for an Airmini BUT I want to plug it into my Resmed S9 machine, thus avoiding bringing the water tank and need for distilled water while traveling? Is there an adapter that will allow connection of an Airmini hose into a regular cpap machine? Thanks very much and look forward to hearing back from you.
Can you do a video with the complete SoClean Cpac connection and full cleaning. No one has shown how to actually do the setup or cleaning connection with the tube.
Thank you for these great videos. I just got the mini for travel. IT IS SO MUCH LOUDER than my Airsense 10. I'm looking for some sort of muffler to help reduce the loud inhale/exhale. Your video to switch to a regular mask...how do you use it without humidity. I need the humidity. Any help would be great!
Is there a way to use the F20 mask with humidity filter and standard tubing that can be used in both an Air mini and air sense 11? Trying to use one hose and mask between 2 machines that still has the humidity. If it is has to be the smaller tubing between both machines then so be it.
Love the simplicity of this machine fist night using it and I’m still awake at 4.15am from the loud whooshing sound through my nasal mask - what an absolute shame
I am new to Cpaps. I don't like massive caps because I like the freedom to sleep anywhere. I thought maybe the mini is the way to go. My question is can I use the mini as my only machine. I do have some significant blockage.
My favorite nightly mask of all time is Philips Respironics DreamWear. But it doesn't go with my travel Resmed Mini. I know you can get the adapter but that cuts off the use of the humidifier filter. Is there something to keep all three together? The Mini, the filter and the Philips Respironics DreamWear ?
What is the small grey “Zeph air “ ?? adapter that he is talking about at the beginning of the video? What is it and where can you get them? Seems the easiest solution by far.
?? Hello Looking to Hack similar to one you suggest but wondering if there is an adapter that fits From a Philips CPAP Go 12 mm hose "Not the end at the Male" into the Resmed mini but the other end that will attach to regular 12mm open end and then to the bottom end of special HME Resmed container fitting ? Or suggestions ??
Hey Nicko! I'm a truck driver over here in the States, just got a new air 11, do you know if you can use the air mini 12v dc converter with the air 11?
Gidday Nick, if I purchase the ZephAir adaptor for the Airmini can I use my F30i mask???. I have Googled, asked the So Called Experts and searched high and low but I'm lead to believe "No", your look on this would be appreciated. Cheers from Central QLD
Hey mate, First of all thanks for your great content!! I have been using the Air Sense 10 Autoset with ClimateLineAir tubing and AirFit N20 nasal mask for about 5 years with great satisfaction. As I travel a lot for work, I bought the Resmed Air Mini about a year ago. However, I'm having a hard time with it, and I've already spent a lot of money on various accessories. I watched already your videos how to improve the noise problem from the mask port., but unfortunately without success. I have now measured the noise levels, hoping you can give me some advice. Air Sense 10 Autoset with ClimateLineAir tubing and AirFit N20 nasal mask: 45-50 dB Air Mini with AirFit N20 mask and special Resmed AirMini waterless humidification tubing (HumidX): 60 dB Air Mini with AirFit P10 for AirMini and special Resmed AirMini waterless humidification tubing (HumidX): 55 dB Air Mini with AirFit N20 mask and non-heated tubing (non-Resmed) and Resmed Air Mini standard adapter as suggested in the video: 69 dB Air Mini with AirFit N20 mask and ClimateLineAir tubing and Resmed Air Mini standard adapter: 62 dB Can you tell me what other options there are to reduce the noise level of the Air Mini?"
I use a Resmed Quattro mask and do not want to change. The software for the Air Mini does not have an option to choose this particular mask. What do I do?
I enjoy your vedio. Can I ask you a question? The dreamstation with foam cast and foamless cast setting in the same pressure will offer the same pressure output?
I was excited to hear of alternative mask solutions for the Airmini... I had hoped to take the unit in the field for a multiday hiking/camping experience. Can you comment on rechargeable batteries for the Airmini?
I’m about to migrate from the airsense 10 to the airsense 11. The VA (Vererans Affairs in the US) sends me way more more accessories than I need. I literally have about two years worth of CPAP equipment because I tend to make them last. As I migrate to the air since 11 I know that my hoses are not going to fit it. Is there an adapter that will allow airsense 10 hoses to hook to the Aires se 11.
I got the adapter5 for my air mini to use standard tubing and any mask. But then the waterless humification will not work. But since it is not really all that good maybe it will not make much of a difference. I use on my standard machine one of ResMed mask but it will not work on my air mini unless you do one the hacks you mention.
Please help me. I've been using my air mini for about a month and had no problems. Randomly about four days ago, the air flow started making it hard to breathe. it felt like breathing through a straw. Sometimes I would get a puff of air that was too strong on the inhale. I also couldn't exhale without coming up against a feeling of having to push really hard to exhale. I'm just at the end of my rope. My sister and I used the app to change all of the settings many, many times and we tried each setting many times over and over again. This had previously happened and I called the retailer and worked with someone over the phone for 2 hours. She couldn't get the machine working OR the brand new second resmed air mini working for me either. Shortly thereafter the next day, the air mini just randomly started working, and I have no idea why. So I've been able to use it for about a month and now this air flow problem started. If you have any suggestions I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
Thanks for the video. Do you know a solution for using a N20 with the Humidx on other machines than AirMini? I find the Humix does the job not only when travelling but also at home as it diffuses the exhaust vent of the mask so my wife is not bothered by it. The issue is Resmed proprietary connector is made only for the AirMini. There ought to be a better solution than duct tape to make this work on a AirSense 11
I have a question, I have the AirMini and have the full facemask, but after 6 months, the Velcro for the straps are not holding any longer. Are there any other hacks to extend the life of this strap? Thank you
Hi from Sydney. Thanks for this video. I need your guidance, hope you can help me. I have bought the Air mini and the AirFit mask P10. I don't like the loud sound coming from the breathing using the AirFit mask P10. My regular maks is the old ResMed Swift FX which I love and it is not noisy. How can I connect the ResMed Swift FX to the air mini? Thanks!
I thought you weren't supposed to do this with the Airmini because you would be breathing in expelled air. The vent on the airmini hose is needed to prevent poisoning yourself with expelled carbon dioxide. Please confirm?
Hi Nick, ResMed AirMini power stuff is expensive and have a proprietary connector; but generic 24vdc battery packs and power supplies are cheap. Would you happen to have a diagram for the power connector? I suspect ResMed is just using a weird connector to mess with us like they do with their weird air hose connectors.
Hi Nick! I use an AirFit N30i mask with my Resmed AirSense 11 but how could I use it with the AirMini? I would like to use it with my regular mask but keep their HumidX humidification system. Is it possible? Thanks!
Interesting! How does this work considering the airmini uses ActiveAir Technology to reduce workload on the motor? By bypassing this and using a vented mask, it defeats the purpose of activeair.
ActiveAir is not designed to reduce the workload on the motor. AirSense 11 has the same motor and can be used with any cpap mask. ActiveAir is to improve the HMX humidity delivery. HMX *must* be located between the patient and the vent (otherwise no moisture will be captured). Because of this, they moved the vent down the tube, below the HMX. Cheers
Okay, my problem is a little bit unusual. I have a Res Med Air semse 10 for women machine that I use at home .I also have an Res Med Air Mini that I use for travel in our caravan.I like the size if the mini for travel but it does not work with the only mask that I can use . My at home mask is one that has a 22mmm hose with the connection on top of my head, You cannot use this mask with the air mini, as it only has a 15mm tube, and they dont have the exact mask for the air mini mask range . My question is does the magnetic adapter fit both the 22mm tube and the 15mm tube. I had a bright idea the I would buy 2 magnetic adapters and put one in each of the 2 different line and then I could just snap connect the 15mm tube from my air mini to my 22mm tube to my head gear. I know this sound a bit hard to understand , but does anybody have an answer.
Thanks for this information! Do you know is there any other Cpap machine on the marked.. a bit cheaper? They charge 1000.- Euro in Germany for this one.
Hello - new subscriber here and love your content. Question - can you lower your max pressure beyond your p95 pressure? For example : My current pressure range is 5-15 for the min and max respectively. My current p95 pressure is 10, I’ve reset my max as low as 9 and my AHI is still 2. Should I continue to lower the max even if it falls below my p95 level? I know you recommend to keep lowering it as long as AHI is below 5 but I’m hesitant to lower it beyond my p95.
Hi Nicko If I use a standard mask adapter and cheap 22mm tube do I still change the mask settings in the set up for each mask type (not sure what that does actually). My main gripe with the airmini masks is that they seem noisy at the humidx chamber , with or without the disk.
Agreed I was about to buy this machine yesterday but then heard the running of it. Far louder than any other machine and mask combo (FAIL Resmed) I would accept the mongrel lock in actions of Resmed IF the mask worked quietly but no way with the crazy noise level. So Now I can proceed and do this swap out of the hose. THANKS so much Nicko. I cant source a Z2 which I would prefer as it is 12 volt not 24. It is just blowing air why do companies take the money and not have to keep gouging for every last cent.

Where can I buy that adapter?
Ty. Can I hook up a dreamwear headgear and still get humidifier?
Hey mate,
First of all thanks for your great content!!
Air Sense 10 Autoset with ClimateLineAir tubing and AirFit N20 nasal mask: 45-50 dB
Air Mini with AirFit N20 mask and special Resmed AirMini waterless humidification tubing (HumidX): 60 dB
Air Mini with AirFit P10 for AirMini and special Resmed AirMini waterless humidification tubing (HumidX): 55 dB
Air Mini with AirFit N20 mask and non-heated tubing (non-Resmed) and Resmed Air Mini standard adapter as suggested in the video: 69 dB
Air Mini with AirFit N20 mask and ClimateLineAir tubing and Resmed Air Mini standard adapter: 62 dB
Can you tell me what other options there are to reduce the noise level of the Air Mini?"
How can u use the humidex with any mask?
Do those humidity disc really work for the mini
Any hacks to make the mask quieter?
I use a Resmed Quattro mask and do not want to change. The software for the Air Mini does not have an option to choose this particular mask. What do I do?
Hello, Where can i find your magnetic appliance? Can I find within Amazon is so, what's the name of the device?
One problem with that hack was that you don’t have spot for the humidity cartridge. My wife get dry nose otherwise.
I enjoy your vedio. Can I ask you a question? The dreamstation with foam cast and foamless cast setting in the same pressure will offer the same pressure output?
and how do you reduce mask noise?
I was excited to hear of alternative mask solutions for the Airmini... I had hoped to take the unit in the field for a multiday hiking/camping experience. Can you comment on rechargeable batteries for the Airmini?
I have the recommended battery from Medistrom and battery life depends on what pressure you need. I typically only get 8-10 hours. Hope that helps.
Thank you for this!!
How can I connect my Airmini AirFit N30 mask to my Airsense 10 climatetubing ? thanks.
I hope you can help us solve the noise problem with the air mini. I have one and sadly it’s so noisy I’m unable to use it. Love the hacks!
The piece you cut off, is there any way to reattach it? I would like to shorten the 2 meter tube to 1 meter.
What about where the mask is, is where the filter goes air mini?
Thanks.
so that way you can not use the HUMIDX????
Uncle Nico, be safe! Hope you don’t have some Resmed tough guy hanging around your car😂 now.
I bought the Zephair but could not connect to my Amara view mask because end connector is not fitting, any suggestions on how to connect? Thanks
Nice and simple. Good one.
I have a question, I have the AirMini and have the full facemask, but after 6 months, the Velcro for the straps are not holding any longer. Are there any other hacks to extend the life of this strap? Thank you
How strong are the magnets? They won't leak air will they?
Hi there, they're very strong however still easy to uncouple when required
Hi from Sydney. Thanks for this video. I need your guidance, hope you can help me. I have bought the Air mini and the AirFit mask P10. I don't like the loud sound coming from the breathing using the AirFit mask P10. My regular maks is the old ResMed Swift FX which I love and it is not noisy. How can I connect the ResMed Swift FX to the air mini? Thanks!
Good to know was thinking of getting one these
I thought you weren't supposed to do this with the Airmini because you would be breathing in expelled air. The vent on the airmini hose is needed to prevent poisoning yourself with expelled carbon dioxide. Please confirm?
My airmini is not showing the data after use . It said not used .any suggestions
Hi Nick,
ResMed AirMini power stuff is expensive and have a proprietary connector; but generic 24vdc battery packs and power supplies are cheap. Would you happen to have a diagram for the power connector? I suspect ResMed is just using a weird connector to mess with us like they do with their weird air hose connectors.
I don't mate but you can probably just by a AirMini DC cable from medistrom and then cut off the connector and use it with any setup. Cheers
@@CPAPReviews but that would be simple and easy. ;-)
Can I use my resmed airsense 10 tubing on the resmed air mini???
Hi Alex, no unless you get that little adapter i showed :)
Hi Nick! I use an AirFit N30i mask with my Resmed AirSense 11 but how could I use it with the AirMini? I would like to use it with my regular mask but keep their HumidX humidification system. Is it possible? Thanks!
Do the adapters as shown work with the nasal masks (Resmed Airfit P30i) that has the hose attaching on the top of the head?
yes
@@CPAPReviews Thank you.
thanks man!
Neat Nick
I live in Portugal, Europe. Where can I get it online? Those parts are hard to find!
Cheers
Hi Nicko, re your air mini hack, how can I increase the moisture. I use the humid X plus but it's just not enough. I look forward to your advice.
Tony

Hey Uncle Nicko, can this hack work with the AirFit P30i?
Thanks for this information! Do you know is there any other Cpap machine on the marked.. a bit cheaper?
They charge 1000.- Euro in Germany for this one.
Hi Alex, check out the Z2 auto mate. It's a great little travel cpap and a bit cheaper than the ResMed. Nick
Good question
Hi Nicko
If I use a standard mask adapter and cheap 22mm tube do I still change the mask settings in the set up for each mask type (not sure what that does actually).
