You just earned another subscriber. I live in the US, and am so tired of watching many TH-camrs training their service dogs. One of the first things they do is slap on a prong or shock collar on their dog, and " train", when in reality their dog is shutting down.
Watching you take the time and patience to really train your lovely dogs has made my day. Thank you. :)

Absolutely not! I train with no aversives and utilise toys, treats and praise to achieve our goals. My spaniels are way too soft to deal with anything harsh 🥰 I'm so glad you enjoy my approach. They give so much to me, treating them with kindness and respect is the least I can do.

Prong collars and e-collars don’t cause my dogs to “shut down”, they understand what I need from them and it helps me communicate with them. I have arthritis and if my dog were to break a heel it would physically hurt me to correct him in a flat collar; the prong collar is easier to manage and should not EVER hurt a dog. Any dog training involving pain is NOT TRAINING, but that being said both e-collars and prong collars can be amazing tools to enable more positive training. Don’t be so harsh to judge without looking into it further

@Riotingk9 It depends on the dog. My 2nd service dog was very timid, I tried a prong, martingale, e collar, and a few other things but none of them worked for him. Using tools scared him so as soon as we tried them out and he showed signs of fear, I took them off and returned them. I worked on heeling off leash daily for 10-20 minutes, heel starts off leash, not on leash. Now he has a perfect heel. All dogs are different, they respond differently to different tools. You have to figure out what works best for your dog, not what works best for you. They are more important than you. A prong collar is painful, just like a regular collar, harness, and other things when the dog pulls. My current service dog in training responds best with a martingale. I tried 3 types of harnesses, 2 head collars, wide collars, an e collar with vibrations (no shocks at all), and a prong. He freaked out or kept pulling on all of them except for the martingale. As soon as he slightly wanders off he feels the slight pressure and he comes back. I never pull on it, I let him figure it out instead then I reward him heavily when he notices it and comes back to a perfect heel. I've trained a lot of dogs, a lot of them will shut down with certain training methods. Using tools does cause pain, you should know that. That's why so many dogs shut down during training. Instead of the owner or trainer using their brains and trying to figure out something that will work better, they don't, they think every device will work for every dog which is just not true.

I'm tired of it too! I see so many people using shock collars and prongs on their dogs that clearly don't need one. Instead of trying better methods they go straight to the last resort methods. When you train with a tool your dog will have to have that tool on to behave correctly because that is exactly what they have been trained to do. In their mind prong = heel. Without the prong, they will not heel because that prong symbolises what they need to do. Some dogs need tools at first, but it takes a while to phase it out, most people don't know that so they take the tool off when the dog starts behaving, then they get mad at the dog because they are acting the way they did before of course. You can't expect a dog to behave a certain way without the tool that is linked to a specific behavior.
My standard poodle is almost 8 months old and he is my service dog in training. I've tried multiple harnesses, head collars, flat collars, and some other things. He freaked out or didn't respond at all for those. So I tried a martingale in petsmart before I bought it, as soon as he wandered off a bit (like most dogs will while they are still in training) he noticed the very slight pressure and came right back into a heel position, then I rewarded him. He doesn't pull hard at all, if he did, I wouldn't be using one since collars can damage the trachea. I don't pull on the leash at all, I have a hands free leash so he is able to walk off about 2 feet away from me (unless I take the leash off), when he wanders off he feels it and comes back. BUT, my 2nd service dog that is now retired freaks out or viciously pulls if he wears certain tools. I had to work with him every single day multiple times a day for months to get him to heel, I realized that heeling starts OFF LEASH since it is a position. Now he has a solid heel. I also used a mini educator e collar without the prongs on it, I never use the shock, only the vibration in case of emergencies, it also have a flashlight which is useful for late night walks. I've started to phase out the martingale with my pup. I put it on him but I attach the leash to his harness instead since martingale = heel in his mind. He thinks that it's still attached to it, but it's not. If I take the martingale completely off then he still pulls a bit. We are still working on it of course, I only want him to wear a harness. He has been using a martingale for 1 month exactly, he had a perfect heel but then he started going through his adolescent phase, which most dogs go through. Next month he is getting neutered so hopefully that will take care of the problem. It's normal for them to pretty much turn into a puppy again during this period. A lot of people get angry at their dogs, but it's not their fault. It's hormones, puberty, and their brain developing. It's completely normal! My pup is coming to college with me next month, he has graduated 2 classes and he will start competing in a few sports with me soon. I think he is going to be very good at obedience and agility. We have not started agility training since he is too young, BUT, he LOVES hopping around my yard and he jumps up high when he is excited. We have bamboo in our backyard and he will jump up to grab the pieces hanging down. I think he's really going to like agility in the future!

I've ended up having a dizzy spell in public but I end having to sit on the floor getting blu to do Deep pressure therapy but it's always helpful when I've got Blu alerting before it happens.
