    "and nearly killing someone" 🤣 Klase's bean ball was epic. I am glad the guy wasn't hurt but he probably has PTSD from seeing that 101 MPH fastball coming straight at his head. Great game though. Go Guards!!!

    Our 3 & 4 hitters are on pace to hit a combined 75 HR's and 275 RBI! We haven't had power guys like that since the 90's!

      analytics doesnt predict how the season will turn out. cant predict the future with numbers and never will be able to. its not even the allstar break. expected numbers are the dumbest thing ever brought into baseball. advanced stats dont improve any sport at all. computers cant predict the outcome of games or the likelyhood of catching a ball. analytics doesnt add anything to baseball.

    If you consider the fact that Steven Kwan was called up to the Majors 3 years younger than Ichiro when he moved from the NPB, there is a good chance he could rack up career numbers like Ichiro. That being said, Ichiro came in with and sustained a 300+ batting average, hold the single season record at 371 and retired with a career 311 batting average over 18 years of MLB play. If Kwan can keep this season up he could well reach that kind of peak batting average, but he has yet to finish a season with an average over 300.
    TLDR: Kwan has the optics of an Ichiro, but needs to sustain this kind of play a few more years to even match him.

      Kwan is a better hitter than Ichiro, he just doesn't get out of the box as fast. I saw a twitter video comparing the two, and Ichiro has a two step advantage. But Kwan doesn't foul off obvious balls the way Ichiro would (which drove me crazy, I'm in Seattle area). I don't see Kwan matching Ichiro's BA, but he'll make up for it with more walks.

    whatever slim chance kwan had of winning mvp before he got injured, end during his injury. the team never lost a step. which is not a slight on his absolute monster season, but more a statement on how well adapting they've proven to be

    Biggest issue is starting pitching. Losing Bieber, Sticks is not 100%, Cookie is not the same. Bright spots are Bibee and Lively. But another solid starter would immense.

    i think the most insane thing about kwan right now is he has more games played with 3 or more hits than he does with 0 hits. (8 with 3 hits, 1 with 4 hits, 7!!! with 0 hits)

    being a Cleveland sports fan is so weird,
    even though Cleveland is a developmental organization.... the comment section is still full of people talking about trades that will bring in rent a players whose names they know.
    to think Cleveland is now going to abandoned their plan to panic get a SP or Right handed RF, when we still have young guys in those spots who need to be evaluated
    at some point and time I wish it would be based in some reality, because I really hope that the Cleveland FO does not panic and give up prospects who are close to helping the Major League team out all so we can live the Cleveland fantasy of getting that one FA who helps us win that one Championship.
    Cleveland is trying to contend for multiple championships for the rest of Jose's contract.... not hoping and praying they luck into one.

    • @jerrybrundage488
      @jerrybrundage488 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I both agree and disagree with this comment. Yes, we do need to see what some of these prospects have to offer at the big league level, no doubt about that. But bringing in a guy like Bo Bichette (signed through '25) or Robert (signed with club options through '27) aren't rent a players. They help this year and beyond. And who knows, if we did win this year, maybe Bo resigns? Our SS offensive production has been terrible. I've seen enough of Arias to know he isn't the guy. Rocchio has been above average defensively, but offensively haven't seen enough. No one wants to trade prospects, but if we remember, just a few years ago we gave up prospects in one, yes one, trade for Andrew Miller and that almost won us a WS. If we can bolster our offense just a little AND maybe add a rotation piece, even a mid to back end starter, the AL is relatively weak this year outside NY and Baltimore. At least so far.

    Homeboy, I’m all for positivity but we’ve also got to be honest with ourselves in the face of the eye test and data. Freeman is trying hard, but he’s been one of the worst defensive CFs in baseball. His range is in the bottom 2% in MLB and he has -3 DRS. He gets a bad read on a ball at least 2-3 times a game and often doesn’t get to balls that the vast majority of CFs reach easily. Finally, I said this last time you brought up Ichiro related to Kwan. Ichiro reached at least 200 hits in every single one of his first 10 MLB seasons. Kwan will be 0-3 after this year and his first two years weren’t due to a lack of at bat (when he was roughly the same age as Ichiro in his first two seasons). The two players are on different planets. Kwan is great in his own right, we don’t need to make hyperbolic statements about him becoming the best base hitter in MLB history to appreciate that.
