- Steven Kwan has become a top 5 hitter in baseball, and he's a guy that pitcher dread facing when he steps up to the plate, he's super pesky, probably has the best bat control in the league, he almost never strikes out, he can slap the ball around, he can work pitch counts up 8 to ten pitches at a time, and on top of that he is a gold glove left fielder, and it's honestly ridiculous how little recognition he gets, he's putting up all star numbers, and has the best batting average in the league. In this video i'm gonna talk about what kwan is doing, how he is doing it, and i also wanna talk about his upbringing because his story may not be what you think.

He’s deserved to be an All-Star!!!!!
Kwan is so disrespected. This kid is an old school hitter.
I'm voting for him for Allstars.
It's cuz he's Asian. Everyone undermines Asian athletes. White dudes say Ohtani is overrated all the time and still say Babe Ruth was better.
Hitting .398 after four hits today. If he had enough ABs he would be winning the batting title in the majors by over 70 points. He is just a machine and so much fun to watch.
He is 18 at bats away to qualify. He will make that up in no time.
Love this dude's approach, uses the whole field, clean level swing, not trying to hit a homerun every time. I hope this kind of play comes back
Really happy to see how kwan has developed as a superstar
This guy is a superstar! Love to have him play for my team. His journey is like Jeremy Lin.
When Kwan got hurt, he was leading the AL in batting average, hits, and runs scored. Given the Guards success, he should have MVP votes.
If he hits .375 he absolutely will get MVP votes, if not the whole damn award
@@davidwindell Over the past 42 games, Judge is hitting .377 with 20 HR, 46 RBI & 1.384 OPs.. he’s #1 in HR, WAR, SLG, OPS, XBH, Walks & total bases after starting the first two months with a BA under .200.. love Kwan but its Judge’s to lose atm
@@davidwindellhe’s not even qualified for batting title right now. If Luis Arraez hasn’t come close to an MVP when he won’t both batting titles, Kwan wouldn’t be either
Ohtani got MVP on lock but yes Kwan is the most underrated player in mlb and hes the man!
@@mortystraphouse5077 Ohtani & Kwan are in different leagues. Judge is the AL lock.
This guy missed a entire month with a hamstring injury
Still has more multi hit games than anyone in the bigs
That’s really all you need to know about the kind of season he’s having. Cleveland found a diamond in the rough with this one. For his age and lack of experience in the bigs he makes it look so easy and comfortable. I seriously think that 0-2 counts doesn’t even register in his head

i love kwan so much home opener i got hit by a foul ball and he signed it for me
LOVE YOU SPENCERPREMIER
Can't believe I've never heard of this guy. He's awesome! And so is this video! This guy's fielding and hitting is superb, kinda reminds me of Ichiro.
Notice the difference in attention between Kwan and Arraez? Unfortunately despite Ohtani etc, Asian players still face so much discrimination in sports. Even Ohtani's first spring training they said he belonged in High School smh.
Great commentary. I like Steven Kwans smart baseball approach and small ball old school mentality.
Will be putting up Jeter, Ichiro numbers for years to come. The guy just sees the ball differently.
Kwan hustles and delivers. If he gains more power in the coming years he will hit more homers and rise to the very top of the MLB.
Kwan-tum theory..
Most exciting player in baseball
Steven Kwan is basically Brett Butler of the 2020s. "Superstar" is a bit of a stretch though.
Great video!!! Keep up the great work!!!
Hey Spence, thanks for this retrospective on Guardians LF Steven Kwan and his background growing up as a kid in the Bay Area of Northern California to his days at Oregon State and.....
leading up to becoming a RF starter with the Indians. 😏
Grew up with Steven. He’s a stud
He’s been incredible this year, he’s a worthy All Star, and he’s going to win the batting title if he stays healthy. That said, he’s still nowhere near Ichiro. Getting close, but long long way to go.
been following him since 2022. hes always been a dawg glad hes getting recognized
Boy Yankees could sure use players like that instead of big hulking home run hitters who strike out way to much
If we don’t sign him long term I will be devastated. There is no one in the league who can replace what he does for the team. I really enjoyed watching him play last year but this year he has quickly become my favorite player when we have Jose Ramirez on the same team.
STEVEN KWAN.
W KWAN-TENT.
GONNA SUB BC OF THIS VID
❤💙
He would be awesome as a Dodgers
Heck no, dodgers aren't allowed to buy more players
@@spencerpremier 😝
I'm surprised you didn't compare him with ichiro. Their playstyle looks identical to me!
lets be real, its becuase of his last name that he is not recognized. American rules not mine
He’s in Cleveland😂. Maybe if his name was Lebron Kwan. Racism isn’t always the answer, kid.
He's cooled off quite a bit... batting 11/40 (.275) in the last 10 games. His overall batting average is still a sizzling .375.
sadly there are only three spots in the outfield to start at the all star game. while tucker, soto, and judge are the clear top three front runners, he is easily the 4th best outfielder in the AL without discussion. he will have a spot on the roster.
I disagree, can't leave a .400 hitter out
i disagree
I agree
Kwan’s a better fielder and hits for a much higher average than all 3 of those guys.
Hitting every pitch you swing at in 100+ at bats is crazy
Watch out Ichiro...here comes Kwan
Got his first hit against Scoots.
Now Barlow is on our team. Funny.
good video... in-depth and interesting
After the slugging-first era, people are paying attention back to batting average.
Reminds me of Rod Carew
He is a g
he needs to play for his home-town team Giants.
Heck no
I’m rooting for him, but he doesn’t have enough bats to qualify for batting title. I love his story.
he is VERY close though
If AI could write and perform a script
I wrote it buddy 😘🤣
Eye know why
…
Because he's not a qualified hitter he's not recognized but if he makes it to the 86th game then he'll reach qualified status and destroy shohei Othani batting average out of the water.
Might even surpass ted Williams
He's like 5 ABs away from
Today I learned the Indians were now the Guardians. Sigh.
to be fair, they should have changed it long ago, because as more and more actual Indians live and prosper in the US, it just doesn't make sense to continue to mislabel Native Peoples.
Is there any evidence for the claim that he was denied opportunities because he's of Asian heritage? That seems like a startling claim to make without some scout saying it. I understand that racism exists, it just seems a bit glib to assert it like this.
no top 5 he just lucky
Ya whatever bro
it's impossible to be lucky in baseball. Everything is a stat, and everything today is based off of stats.
The only thing against him is that he plays for a team that so pathetic that they change their name to the Guardians instead of maintaining their Native American Heritage in at least keeping a Native American name. Ever since that's happened Cleveland has lost a massive amount of respect and fanbase therefore his Great Performances aren't seen the way they would have I believe beforehand.
If Kwan was black ESPN SAS would be frothing at the mouth yelling non stop.
Never heard of him till now!😮
Never heard of a 2 time gold glover?
