Dang Brian, nailed my brother! Honestly i don't think you can go wrong with either. I'm still contemplating last years 85x95k. It does look like the 95l crushes some detail at times, but that me watching through TH-cam, may not be as bad in person. Great comparison!

It seems that the extra brightness of the x95 comes at a small cost. I definitely see deeper colors and contrast on the x93. It’s not much, but just enough to grab my attention. Maybe it’s not like that in person. I’m sure it could be adjusted in settings too.

I agree. the X95 is only a little brighter. Check out ratings for the numbers. You wouldn't notice if a display is brighter if one TV maxes out at 1900 nits and one at 2,000 nits. But you notice if one tv was 100 nits max and the other was 200 max. The X95L is an excellent TV and is really not worth the extra money. if money is NO object, then get the 95L, if you don't want 85" then that makes the choice a lot easier. Your best bet is to wait for the 2024 line up, the displays should all be very bright, 4,000 nits anyone????

It could be that it looks that way because of brightness difference. The camera doesn't show the reality because it cannot handle doing it all at once.
This was evident when the S95B was filmed last year next to older OLEDs. It made at times the red look orange because it was so much brighter and ironically made the older WRGB on camera at times look richer in color. When the reality is that is opposite of true.
When a TV is less bright on camera colors appear deeper. But still it could be true. But I think it's just the camera making it look more so.

I just want to THANK YOU soooooo much for doing this video. I've been looking at the Samsung QN95C on and off for a couple of months now, and I just came across your comparison videos, and you've won me over hands down changing my mind, and I'm purchasing the Sony X95L 85" instead and when I think I came so close to buying the Samsung I pinch myself and smile because I came within a hairs' breath of buying the Samsung instead of the Sony X95L which to me is clearly the right choice for my #1 choice without hesitation........ I'm so grateful that I found your videos just in time before I made my purchase, as I would have been so extremely disappointed in myself if I found your videos when it would have been too late for me to change my mind.

If they are out of the box, then congratulations to Sony for putting out a very consistent look. To my eyes both TVs look fantastic. No advertising for the X93L and no TH-cam reviews for it like this channel and many others that push the X95L and X90L as better as Sony told them to push the X90L, and secondarily the X95L. I have the 75" X93L and your absolutely correct, most underrated TV on this planet ! The picture quality blows away the X90L and is equal to the X95L. I saved a lot of money choosing the X93 over the X95! I actually got to see the X93 and X95 side b y side before I purchased and my eyes could not discern between the two. If you want the best viewing experience ever, get the X93! Also every negative I heard about this TV lacking "xr clear " is a complete joke!! The processing and clarity is stunning without Sony's latest sales gimmick. Personally, I wouldn't trade mine for ANY Oled as they all have great clarity but to me that dimness that all oled's possess ruins all the positives. Even the LG G3 doesn't have as good picture quality as the X93L. I agree best damn Sony TV made. Keep up the great work Brian, you and FOMO rock and save many consumers lots of money!

I am thinking I am going to wait for X95M and I hope they will let us have 65/75/85 next year and none of this "two models" crap. The X95M should (or Sony would be insane) the new Pentonic SoC and maybe they will have the usual smaller improvements year over year in the X95M. Maybe even a few more zones and updated XR processing a bit.
If the 75" X95L would have existed here in Canada I would likely have gone with that one. It also has more zone increase than 85" for it's size that is. 19-20% more zones vs 12.5% more zones in the 85".

While 95L clearly is better in areas mentioned I am considering to go for 98 inch 90L as I watch more movies and the black bars make the picture smaller (unless you are watching Imax content). 5:35 the brightness seems a little too bright on x95L, ive noticed it a few times. Colors look better on the x93L at times. Brian, I just returned the QM8 after a month and you can see the video on my channel, the 2300 dimming zones and their algo do nothing. 2300 zones that crushed blacks beyond watchable. I also hated that there was no custom modes in DV, and no brightness slider. Also no seperate backlight settings. Does x93L have one? Im seriously considering the x93L or U8k 75”’s. I dont know if samsung without DV is for me, although i feel some of their tvs are great :(..Your comment in FOMOs stream about lack of picture customization on QM8, hit home. I don’t think OLED is for me because how just overall dime they look compared to MLED’s.. plus their ABL. What would you recommend? Is no DV a deal breaker for you? QN85B looked deadass as good as a95k at best buy side by side same content/stamps, was thinking s90c s95b, c3/g2 if I go OLED. U8k, QN85b (idk how qn90b/c or 95b/c compares) x93L.. not sure of many other Mini leds, whats your take? Doesn’t necessarily have to be a 2023 model, if its best.

I think in some scenes there is more deep color and vibrancy on the x93l. However the upscaling ability is better on the x95l and that is important to me. I am torn. The 93l is also $800.00 cheaper. What to do?

He clarified it many times already that the higher color saturation on the X93L is due to the X95L being brighter, and with cameras, a brighter light tends to loose a bit of color saturation (overexposure, to be exact), which is why you see more colors with the X93L.

Looks to be that the x93l has better color/saturation/detail, i disagree with Brian when he says the x95l's brightness is controled, it looks to me that the x95l brightness is not controlled, 1 example would be the tree shot. I would probably save the extra cash and buy the x93l, it looks better to me.

    • @caleazacatechichi

      20:25 tree loss of detail
21:18 moss on rocks loss of detail
21:23 birds wing loss of detail
All due to brightness not being controlled.
You are right the x95l does have a little less blooming but that is costing some detail to be lost. X95k/X93l would be my choice because I value picture accuracy/detail/better color saturation. But you may have a different opinion and that's okay.

The Z9D was legendary my friend. The biggest additions you'll see is shadow detail and picture processing for very fine detail. The X95L has the backlight master drive which made it's debut on the Z9D. The Z9D had the best blooming control then of most Sony leds until the X95L. However it did this by crushing the blacks. You'll also have a much wider viewing angle and much quicker pixel response. All that said if your happy I'd juts grab a firestick and enjoy the Z9D 😁

Great video, but I agree with a couple of other comments that any differences are splitting hairs. I couldnt really see any difference for 95% of the video and for the times I think I did see differences, nobody sits and stares at slow moving demo content where that 5% would even be perceptible to the average non purist/non enthusiast. It also may be a limitation of my 2018 Samsung q9fn 75" that I cant really see the differences, so I feel like Im going to need to find these in store to see if my conclusion after watching this video is real.
As Im one of the few who watch videos like this who dont give a crap about accuracy and the directors intent (I care more about what just looks good to my eyes), Im disappointed that this video didnt push the comparison outside the box to show more of what its capable of, so Im hoping there will be another video that does that as I never watch in Movie mode and most of the time Im not watching in dark rooms.
Anyway, big fan of this channel and looking forward to more videos.

Great review - Late to the party but I feel that the X95L has a lot of better going for it and the X93L doesn't save much by giving those up. The X95 has better darks, better brightness, XR Clear, and better angles.
Looking at Rtings, the X95L's record smashing for a LED contrast ratio of 202,000 is much higher than the X93L's 73,000 which is still fantastic but not record-smashing. Then the brightness peaks are around 1,300 nits vs 1,800 - a palpable 500 nits when you expect a minimum of 1,000 for an entry level TV. Then there's the black level raise of 29 degrees for the 93L vs 70 for the 95L.
Usually the better TV is 10% better but in this case, it's substantially better. I just think they should have just offered the X95 line in the States.

Essentially, they supersample to 3x like Nvidia's DLSS. It's going to leave everyone else in the dust like Nvidia has.
SONY ADDS XR CLEAR IMAGE TO THE NEW 2023 BRAVIA XR TV LINE UP
Sony has announced a revolutionary new technology, XR Clear Image, in its upcoming lineup of 2023 BRAVIA XR TVs. The company said that this technology will deliver a level of clarity and sharpness that was previously impossible.
XR Clear Image is a next-generation image processing platform that utilizes cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) to recognize and maintain subtle details and textures that regular processing would otherwise miss. As a result, it produces images with three times higher resolution than the current 4K standard.
Additionally, Sony has implemented a new XR TruSeaColor engine to produce greater levels of color accuracy, vibrancy, and realism. This technology optimizes the look and feel of the picture based on ambient lighting and color temperature settings. The result is an image with stunning and cinematic visuals.

    • @techsamurai11
      @techsamurai11 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@91DivineAngel Yeah, it seems the X93L has different panels depending on the size like the X95K did. I find that almost unethical.
The 65 inch has 420 according to Rtings and another place I'd read which is interesting as the X95K 65 inch had 432 suggesting a slight difference there. If the 85 inch X93L has 768 zones, that puts it very close to X95L territory and explains the mammoth $4,000 price for it.
Is the 65 inch X95L not a AUO different panel? That's the one Rtings bought and it's the one with 200,000 contrast ratio and the one VIncent Teoh used so it must be a high-end panel.
This means that US consumers don't have access to the best LED models in the 65 and 75 inch sizes which aren't that much more expensive in Europe. The X93L (which is 98% of last year's X95K) is what Sony offers at a steep discount.

Eh, 85 is too much. My wife and daughter wouldn’t care about the difference anyway. They absolutely love the 16 year old plasma that they watch regularly. I would get the 93l. Good video. 👍🤪🏳️‍🌈

Their eyes have become accustomed to viewing the crappy plasma picture. If you got one of these TV's it would blow them away.

All we need now is a x95l vs OLED vs conventional lcd/led to see how the black levels compare.
To me if the x95L can get rid of that horrible light bleed/raised blacks look enough to the point that its a huge difference even if its not 100% = to OLED, that would be great.
