Over 50 years ago, the world was first introduced to what would quickly become a cultural phenomenon for the ages. Star Trek broke barriers then and continues to do so now, inspiring people of all generations and walks of life with its celebration of cultural diversity, scientific exploration, and the pursuit of uncharted frontiers. Today, the Star Trek universe continues to thrive, exploring all new missions for Starfleet.
OMG. Seeing Patrick Stewart, Brent Sooner and Jeri Ryan together on that stage made me realize a part of my heart I didn't know was missing has finally come home.
So happy for you !
Picard and Data are my Kirk and Spock. Seeing them together again in the trailer I tried to hold it together, but literal tears came to my eyes.
You're not alone in that.

JERI RYAN!!!!!!!! wasn’t expecting that!!! Fantastic news she’s back in Star Trek. Met her last year at Destination Star Trek in uk & she’s really lovely and hasn’t aged a bit
And still fine...
Oh come on, she's aged a bit. Like fine wine, admittedly, but aged she has. To me she's more beautiful now than she was 20 years ago, and I'm not talking about looks alone.
Dark Smurf agree Jeri is more beautiful now in every way. As I’ve said I met her last year at destination Star Trek
Here’s hoping for more Voyager characters joining later on!

I'm not a fan of Voyager. Does it show?
Sir Patrick Stewart, YOU are a beautiful creature!

I mean, Patrick, Brent and Jeri are amazing for obvious reasons, but Del Arco has been highly missed. He wasn't in enough Star Trek episodes back in the day imo, so to see him back again after so long makes my heart super happy
its so amazing that we get to see Jeri Ryan act along side Patrick, she was one of the best parts of VOY
They're bringing "Hugh" the Borg back?
Wow... That's awesome.
I'm sure everyone will show up for some attention..
The writers apparently had a chat with the devs behind the game Star Trek Online some time ago, concern it's lore/history. Since that game takes place 30 or so years after the destruction of Romulus established in the 2009 film...
If they follow or borrow some elements from it. In that game the Borg was split into two factions, the Collective, and Cooperative (disconnected/freed borg). Hugh appears in that game as part of the Cooperative...Seven of Nine understandably aids the Cooperative from time to time. Also, in that game, the Romulans formed a new democratic government, although survivors were scattered around in flotillas as well as colony worlds. The Tal Shiar were more a separate faction that they disavowed. The Tal Shiar experimented with Borg tech. So it wouldn't surprise me if the facility we see in the trailer is some sort of Tal Shiar facility, and maybe Isa Briones' character is some kind of test subject that is key to the Tal Shiar taking over the borg.
Of course. They could throw all of that out of the window and go in a completely different direction. Either way, I'm excited.

I can’t explain it but every time I see Sir Patrick - can’t help but smile ear to ear!!!
Jerel Yates same. Apparently, every time he walks on a comic con stage I cry as I also cried when he walked on stage as Professor X.
Seven of nine has been one of my favorite characters from the Star Trek universe. Over the years, with other Star Trek series which came up, and I'd see cameos from other Star Trek characters, there was always that part of me which was always waiting for Seven to also have her own cameo. Seeing her in the Picard trailer was a wonderful surprise, a gift. Honestly made me tear to see her again alive and well. Thank you Star Trek creators and writers for writing her in on this one!!
Di Jed I agree plus it seems they can give her a normal personality but can't get rid of her eyebrow implant; you would think after 20 years of medical research that Starfleet could've figured out how to remove that thing without harming her.
@@JohnFourtyTwo Nah, I kinda like it. That implant on her eyebrow is classic Seven of Nine, Wouldn't be the same somehow without it.
They should name the dog Wesley so, when it barks, he can yell "Shut up, Wesley".

When Wesley was told to shut up, he happened to be in the right. He was trying to inform the bridge crew that Lore had taken the position of Data.

For those of you wondering who Jonathan Del Arco is, he was in 3 episodes of TNG as Hugh the Borg.

It is sad, that Michael Piller is not with us anymore. He wrote a lot of the Picard speeches in TNG and had a very intimate understanding of the character.

I´m so happy this show is happening. Sir Patrick was something like a father figure for me growing up. With the rest of the crew my "family". Thx for doing this.
Hope is a strong feeling, and the trailer gave me hope. Glimpses of the story arc seem compelling enough.
But seeing Kurtzman sitting and talking on the same table as the cast, i am back to " i will believe it when i see it".
You're absolutely right! Let's hope Klutzman doesn't ruin the show.
You can blame Patrick Stewart just as much as Kurtzman if the show isn't good. He has script approval, and will be a contributor in the writer's room.
Kurtzman only developed the show for CBS. He will not be writer or showrunner. Michael Chabon was hired to run the show.
Thank you! I needed to hear this! I'm a full time Granny who loves Star Trek! And with the schools being closed. I'll watch it it at night!

Your welcome
Thank you for filming this!
Constructive suggestion, for the future if you shoot in 4K wide, in the editing room you can then cut to individual people talking easier (if you are delivering to a 1080p format such as youtube). This makes it so that when they are speaking, you don't need to pan around in person, and we can see who is speaking for the various bits of dialogue... Another option to get the same result would be to have two cameras on the crowd. One as a wide safety and the other keying into the various bits of dialogue.
Other than that. I love that this was filmed because I was not able to attend! Thank you so much! Thank you for capturing it!

@Raghu Seetharaman I wouldn't doubt it if they got divorced a few years after Nemesis just like people in real life do all the time.
Really pumped to watch this. In these years of division in our country and our culture we need the optimistic message of diversity and combinations and longevity and prosperity that has always been Star Trek's unique and enduring vision.
But instead, they'll just constantly scream, "Orange man bad!"
It will be a one-way, tone-deaf, illogical lecture with no basis in reality. That's my fear, anyway, because that's the norm these days. I hope I'm wrong this time.
Was not expecting Jeri Ryan to be involved and I am actually really excited for it. I resented her when she came on Voyager because she was replacing a character I liked (Kes) and she was clearly just there to be a sex object. But she turned out to be the best actor on the whole cast, even better than Picardo and Mulgrew. And now that she's 50 and won't have to be in a catsuit anymore, we can really focus on the character. There aren't many Trek alumni who can stand next to Patrick Stewart and give a truly convincing performance, but she is close to the top of the list. I think I would rank only Avery Brooks and Michelle Yeoh higher.
yes on the acting cred's. No on Yeah, they wasted her when Burnham killed her.

This is so awesome! I hope Kate Mulgrew shows up in some form or fashion as well. John De Lancie reprising his role as Q would be great as well!
Totally agree. It's hard to imagine a better female captain than Kate Mulgrew. I've been waiting for her to play Janeway again since the end of Voyager. Somehow I don't think she'll make a reprise.
@@curiosity_saved_the_cat She did play Janeway in Nemisis.
Considering this is about the Borg and the dealings Janeway had with the Borg, I can well see her coming back as maybe a admiral, as for Q, not sure how he would fit into the story as the story seems to be about the Borg and Romulans.
Now the real question is, will Beverly Crusher be back? it's high time her and Picard got married so we can end that on-off relationship they had on the show.
Remember there will probably be more than one season so it is very likely we will have some more cameos
The trial of humanity never ends.

It will be interesting to watch the old crew in a modern Star Trek show. The familiar faces will go a long way to making this show a success.
Unfortunately I have a feeling that most of the older trek cast that are returning will be just cameos. They may drop them in from time to time but I don't know if any other than obviously Picard will be a regular. Let's hope I'm wrong

Wow, imagine if the creators and writers of the new Star Wars trilogy had taken this approach to developing the script, sitting down with the actors who have lived the roles for so many years and involving them in the writing process. I’m so glad that they included Patrick Stewart in the development process, and have given him the respect that he deserves for the way that he has crafted the role. I have high hopes for this series.
except a lot of actors are nothing like their charactors. giving actors the chance to determine what their character is, especially after so long the risk is they let their own life over the last several decade skew their perspective of the character. like 7 of 9 in the trailer she looks like its just jeri ryan talking to patric stewart. she doesnt act at all like 7 of 9. sure time has passed but people dont change that much.
There were some initial talks with writers, but the only actor that will be involved in the writers room at all is Stewart. It's a slippery slope when you let actors dictate the direction of the character. Rick Berman and Michael Piller wouldn't even let writers on the set when they were showrunners for Star Trek. He knew that the actors would try to influence them.
Patrick Stewart is the cutest, sweetest old man ever 💖
his voice is a little shakey though
He's been old since he was young.
Love the characters and the series, can't wait to watch it. I do hate it, however, when the MC keeps asking people for more and more applause. It's like, that was their reaction; no need to force them to be louder for the sake of...what?

If this series is as good as it promises to be (and we all hope so), those cast member's lives will change forever. And I do hope this show is as good as we all hope. We need something that reminds us that tolerance, not indifference, is what Trek has always been about.
Yes. But the original series' (i.e. all Trek shows pre-STD) did so without beating you over the head with it, and without it being to the detriment of telling fun and interesting stories. STD was a nightmare to watch and tolerate the godawful writing.

I love Sir Patrick! It's not enough that he's acted for 6 decades, bringing us Picard among other memorable characters---he has also done so with humility and humor, growing and changing without ever diminishing as he ages. This year, I will be just 5 years younger than he was when he first took on Picard in '87. Can I say, at 43, that I have the same energy and drive as that almost 80 year-old dude? Well, that's the goal. He's one person who inspires me toward that. ;-)
William Scott Gordon What's ironic is that Picard was 59 years old in Encounter at Farpoint because he was born in 2305 and that episode took place in 2364. Patrick still looks the same that he did 32 years ago but his voice is giving his age away; he sounds like the description of he gave of Picard's father in his final years in that one episode he was talking about his father was a very strong man in his youth and frail wisp of a man when he died.
Notice the lukewarm applause for Discovery. Star Trek fans know...
I found it highly amusing when it was mentioned that Discovery was showing an optomistic view of the future, considering it is the only Trek, in my opinion not to do that, even at its darkest DS9 was far more light hearted and optomistic than STD.
I am not saying Discovery is bad just that, at least Season 1 was most certainly not Star Trek, season 2 improved greatly but not enough.

For real! If this show is a wreck, with this acting talent available, we know for certain who is to blame, and it won't be the cast. It'll be the same hacks who ruined STD and the rebooted movies.
I hope they learned a lesson or two, and let experts from the golden days to do the writing stuff.
They didn't learned anything! The very last questiion is Kutzmann saying how they have a "commitment to diversity"...

i really hope they save dr crusher's return for the season finale. like when things aren't going well she would be there. she's always been there for him.
SANTIAGOOOOOO! You cheeky devil you, no idea you were going to be on Picard! OMG if he's in Starfleet uniform I'm gonna faint.
He plays a former Starfleet officer, so we'll probably see a uniform in flashbacks
I'm so happy for Isa!! I've been a fan of her's since her Hamilton days and she looks great in the trailer
I love Picard but data will always be my favourite
They are both my favorites by a large margin!
Data is one of my top 10 fictional characters, period.
As much as I hate STD and everything it stands for with a passion, they’ve got me on this one. Son of s bitch, I hope they haven’t been duped me.
@@BC08 "I hope they haven't been duped me'? LOL Most DSC haters have the same issues that you have regarding the formation of coherent thoughts. lol
Kenneth Baker My thoughts are the epitome of coherence and logical consistency. It has been proven that ST:D fans lack discernment and are on average below the median IQ, just like yourself.
@@BC08 I probably passed the bar exam before your parents met each other, junior. lol You would come out on the short end if and when we compare our academic achievements. You are much better off sniveling about tv shows that you don't like.
With so many former Star Trek cast returning to reprise their roles (Councelor Troi, Captain William Riker, Data, Seven of Nine and Hugh), I am actually very excited about this series. The Next Generation was my favorite Sci Fi show back in the day! Makes me wonder if more former Star Trek characters/cast will return as well!
It's an Alex kurtzman show, it's going to be trash
@@sirmustardofhousemayonnais9907 Possibly, but with so many former actors returning to the franchise I doubt that. It may be an Alex Kurtzman show, but Patrick Stewart - Picard himself - was very vocal about where he wanted to go with this series...
@@DanielBrongers lol that's cute
@@sirmustardofhousemayonnais9907 Not cute, just the truth lol
@@DanielBrongers you clearly haven't been paying attention to what's going on with production, so you don't even know what the truth is. It is very cute
Here comment from someone that i seen on other youtube channel with which i fully agree so i wanted to share it here with you: ``Finally a Star Trek show that doesn’t start in the past, we finally get to see the how the future turned out for the TNG, Voyager, DS9 time lines. Finally we get to move forward...`` 👍🖖👌
@ IG REMAN Gaming I agree and I hope they stick with unaltered canon from the TOS/TNG timelines and totally disregard anything from the prequels and reboots that contradict anything originally established.
Also, I hope they avoid all time travel, alternate universe, holodeck failures, and other such scenarios because professional writers regardless of background should be able to write convincing stories without having to rely on such used and abused storylines to prop-up their writing.
Make it so!
Sooooo.... the only 2 we haven't had any indication of their being in the show is Worf and Dr Beverly Crusher. Maybe save them for season 2??
Geordi
I think the doctor opening the android drawer was dr crusher
@Robbi Rose Wesley didn't became a Traveller?
Ok, I am pumped for this!!!!
So Data, Seven of Nine will all just do cameo to pull people in? Bait and switch!
I liked the look of the trailer it was more than I was expecting but yes I do worry these will be short cameos to bring in people like myself. I'm willing to give it a shot so will just need to wait and see.
Data at least what did you expect hes dead. What we saw in the trail is prob a Holodeck
That Data scene from the trailer was analyzed, and it seems he's wearing his Star Trek Nemesis uniform. So it's probably a flashback or hallucination or something.
@@mariop8101 Per Brent Spiner (he might be lying), B-4 is the android parts in the drawer, but the scene with Picard, where they are playing cards and he's wearing a First Contact uniform (and refers to Picard as "Captain") is him as Data. It's probably a flashback, a holodeck program or a daydream sequence.
If it's not a flashback then it's safe to assume that it's an updated B-4. After 20 years of continuing cybernetic research including some or all of Dr. Soong's lost research combined with 20 years of medical research into the humanoid mind, Starfleet was able to copy everyone's memory that was in contact with Data and upload it into B-4/Data II. This is my opinion and the easiest and simplest way to explain the situation and move on.
After just re-watching Encounter at Farpoint I believe the writers could've skipped all the dialog from Data not knowing what snoop meant and all the other instances when someone has to explain to Data in simple Dick & Jane instructions the most basic of expressions and so forth; fortunately a writer remembered the Enterprise has computers and Data began referring to that instead of being schooled by the likes of Wesley on human emotion and such.
I always thought Data should've been much more versed in human emotion since he went to the Academy and other ship assignments and promotions like real humans and should've picked up from them the basics instead of being a simple idiot until he got to the Enterprise about 10 years later. I'm pretty sure when he was first activated/reactivated he was brought up to speed and by the time he went to the Academy he was functioning at the equivalent adult/18 year old level.
I thought Picard series was a bad idea, then I thought it was destined to fail, after seeing the trailer I’m intrigued
