Getting your net caught in your sabiki rigged pole reminded me of my last few trips out in my kayak - classic! And, always right when you're ready to use the net!
Hey dude you rock. Really enjoy your videos. And thanks for the video on tying snail snot setup. I’ve referred to that many times. Off to try for some Coastal Cutthroat up here in Del Norte county.
White croakers (AKA) Tom cod have a lot of bones but more importantly consume part of their diet from filter feeding. This means they can take in bad toxins from sewage discharge. You have to be careful were you harvest these taking note of local water discharges.
I've had King Fish plenty of times, they even sell them at the market, it's a good tasting fish IMO. King fish may not be on your menu but in defense of the "Croaker" it's worthy of the dinner plate. Maybe it's a good cook, bad cook thing ;-)
Love your video's, I'd like to catch my own bait.. if you don't mind What size and type of sibiki are you using to catch your bait? What type size main line on pole, and do you add scent or bait?
get a fish descender device or two for fish caught in deep water, or make one yourself out of a wire clothes hanger and and a big wait or rock in a net for weight to take it down, easy peezy
Man I use to target croakers when I lived in California! Especially down in Baja, where the spotted fin croaker gets up to around five pounds or so! Here in the Atlantic ocean, many types of fish LOVE croaker! Especially redfish! Nice lingcod though!
I have to join the choir, kingfish/croaker are great tasting fish. A lot of small bones, kind of a pain to eat so I usually don’t keep them. but at the end of an unsuccessful fishing day, going croaker makes it into a successful fishing day. It’s hard to not catch them, if that makes sense…🤔

Croaker are good eating. They serve them in the tofu house so they are good eating. Hope to see you cook some of the fish you catch but thank you for the videos.
At one time, Kingfish were Ok to eat. But over the years, as pollution, sewage and run off, they now usually have worms. They are bottom fish, and when the bay was more pristine, before 1960, they tasted more like the ocean. Not anymore, they taste like the back slough water now.
@@alphakennybody2583 They started getting wormy in the 70's-80's. We stopped eating them after that. They had allot of sewage problems back then. They often broke down, or were not working up to demand. A few crude oil spills, and that was it, most bottom fish in the bay area were compromised.
Hey Die Hard and Fans. I'll be up in the Redwood City/ Half-moon bay to meet my brand new granddaughter. Can you and your fans recommend a quality fishing charter in the HMB area for a day trip? Salmon or rockfish. Either is Ok. Thank very much.
White croaker (AKA) Tom cod are filter feeders which means they will filter out toxins from the water. Regardless of flavor they can posse a health threat if taken from areas with poor water quality.
@@VuTang858 Look up the OEHHA "Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment, for regional posting on which species are safe to eat. This agency posts signs regionally regarding local species and which are a health risk. The Navy also dumped a lot of chemicals, notably PFAS, into the San Diego Bay area. This is a big issue and California Senator Alex Padilla has a proposed clean up bill.
Sorry, that's a great bait also called a brown bait, great for big calico bass, halibut, white sea bass and other! Fished this bait for over 40 years off Malibu!!;
A box of 10 dried croakers sells for like $100 in korean markets. If you prep it correctly it’s one of the most delicious fish you can eat

My net steals sabiki hooks. Lol
Little tip to catch croaker from a boat or pier that size I like to use the 3 inch gulp minnow on a 3/8 or 1/2 Oz jig head gets em every time
I grew up on the beach in Ventura, Ca. We called these guys "Ronkies." My buddy with the boat sold them for fertilizer.
If I get a small smelt surf fishing I save them to throw off rocks and it tends to weed out a lot of the little guys.
used to catch a bunch of those south of coyote point to san mateo bridge west shore.. never kept any .. thanks for the video
koreans eat a lot of king fish/croaker and they taste very good!

You're exactly right. Those suckers hit your bait as soon as it hits the bottom. Nice double rig, I always use those for live blue gills.
4” to 6” White Croaker (Tom Cod, Kingfish) is an excellent bait for Halibut. We commonly call it “Brown Bait” on the party boats in SoCal.
Croakers are delicious! At least Atlantic Croakers are….

there hella good . when i was young that was live bait for striper and halibut
Such a cool trip Adam! Great work as always 😎

Be cool if you got some underwater/landing cam shots,

They taste like ink
@@bryankerckhove9501 Taste like ink? Dude, I think you've got a problem.
I’ve had them too and they aren’t that bad. Kinda bony but I’m sure the bigger ones are good!
I also think they fight really good if you use light tackle!
Croaker, whiting, corbina. High on the todem pole for people surf fishing.
Tastes great. Just salt, pepper, and then fry it.

Use shrimp for bait, store bought uncooked in shell. Use size 14 hooks for small bait and larger hooks for big bait. My honest opinion
Good job buddy thanks for sharing
In Alaska, fishing for ling cod and halibut, we use “C” hooks.
What brand is your bait tank?
How do you like the Baitshark?
OLAF sighting 🐕🐕! It looked choppy and rough water! Nice catches, Adam! Stay safe out there!
Do you have a video on how you tied that set up?
Never ate a croaker? Not sure if they are different than the ones in the gulf(I doubt it), but they taste great and they get 2 plus pounds.
So cool seeing that ling spit the croaker the second he was in the net.

Nice baby ling cods good little eaters . ours have to be 26 to 36 small too . Hard to find small ling cod here were I fish take a look.
Hey, I have caught halibut on king fish bellies so they are good as dead bait as well. 👍
